I want to add on my site, a page that has ALOT of stuff on it and i would like to split it in more "pages"...i.e.
I saw someone make a link for "1 2 3" with "javascript:GoToRecNo(30)" I don't realy know much about javascripting or php/MySQL.
Anyway, my question is...How can you "goto" a "RecNo" ? where is that RecNo? Atm, my "1 2 3" are link to a .html each...
How do I complete this so that when a user clicks on on the div rollOver, it loads in a new html page into the current browser window.

I have JavaScript code:
Now i want compatible this code with Jquery, but i can not do it.
I am trying to find a tutorial and learn how to create an option list and when a user selects an option they are automatically directed to a new url. I'd rather not have to use a submit button, but i guess it would be nice to learnt that too.
The thing i'm having difficulty with is what function it would use? onchange, onclick etc. I'm not really sure what to search for, and how it is described.
I currently have the follwoing javascript function: Code:
/**
* ask question, if true goto X
*/
function watsConfirmAction( question, letsgoto )
{
// ask question
if ( confirm( question ) )
{
// on YES goto location
location.href = letsgoto;
}
}
which is used as follows:
HTML Code:
<a onClick="watsConfirmAction('ask question', 'some URL')">link</a>
If a user doesn't have javascript, for whatever reason, this will fail to send them anywhere. is there a better way of doing this to allow for javascript non compliant browsers?
When you lick it it will opn up a url in a window. then in 10 seconds it will open up another url in another window automatically.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to 'activate' an item in the list of items inside Scrollable? The thing I want to accomplish is this: call the api.seekTo() method inside a piece of javascript (this part works) and then visualy show the user what item in the Scrollable list it was that was sought. I know I can influence the appearance of an item clicked but what I do want is tell the scrollable to activate an item (and scroll if neccecary to bring said item into view). So clicking I understand, telling or programaticaly setting the item _without_ clicking and make it stand out (by using the activeClass property).
But I need the scrollable to goto the particular item, in this case my project is a dj timetable for times, so if its currently 2pm, goto that item in the scroller on start - of course, there's PHP involved, so that'll be used, I've already got the item classed as .active, all I need is the scroller to go to that item automatically.
I want to disable all the option, which inlcude:
using right click and select back,
pressing the backspace button on keyborad
and the back option on above menu to be disabled.
and other ways of going back to previous page.
Is there a way to do that using JS.
i found this sample code
Code:
<script>
function setOptions(chosen) {
var selbox = document.myform.opttwo;
selbox.options.length = 0;
if (chosen == " ") {
selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Please select one of the options above first'

I am trying to use the Goto method of the Word ActiveX object. I am
trying to open a document and go to a named bookmark. If I use this
code in VB it works, so I'm sure the approach is possible, I just can't
get JavaScript to work with it.
Here is the code I am using, the error I get from IE is Object

function PageLoad()

var WordApp = new ActiveXObject('Word.Application');
WordApp.Visible = true;
var documentlocation = crmForm.all.new_documentlocation.DataValue;
var wd = WordApp.Documents.Open(documentlocation);
wd.Select();
var Name = 'TestFred'
var wr = wd.Selection.GoTo(What : Word.WdGoToItem.wdGoToBookmark,Name :
'TestFred');
}
How can I use the same code for 50 different items ?
$('#slide00').click(function() { $('#slideshow').cycle(0); return false; });
I'm trying to add a function to an existing JS object without much success. The new function is included in a file of dynamically loaded JS (included using document.write), appended after the core JS script tag at runtime. This should be a simple task:

Adding extra script tags to the html source isn't an option either. There would be too many pages to think about. My new function must be dynamically loaded in with JS somehow. Is there anything else I could try?
Basically what I want to achieve is a timeout on "over" followed by a subsequent timeout when the timeout is being removed....
I have got as far as:
Code:
function toggleMenu(el, over)
{
if (over) {
setTimeout(Element.addClassName(el, 'over'), 200);

I am working on an HTML project that displays a field with a number in the field by each day. What it does is start at 0 on day one. Each day it adds a 1 to the field. Day 2, the field would say 1, then day 3 would say 2, and so on. I am not sure how to approach this. This is also displayed in an HTML format. I want to to be automatic and change as the date changesI will also need a way to reset it back to zero if possible.

I have had to use javascript due to certain css elements not working in safari browsers.My problem is due to the multi level aspect as when a sub link is clicked, the parent link above it then deselects. I need the parent link to stay active when its sub links are clicked and only deselects when a link outside of that list is clicked upon.I understand the theory of adding a conditional statement but simply don't know how to apply it correctly within the functionHere is the existing function which tells a link to be active or selected:var Lst;

I've got the following JS function that does a basic countdown to a specific date. I have a series of dates, and rather than change the date manually each time the previous one has passed, I'd like to automate it a bit and have it just read the date from an array, and use that date for the countdown. The check would be if the countdown'd date has already passed. Here's what I currently have:
<script language="javascript">
// date/countdown
function showDate () {
var now = new Date();
var date = now.getDate();
var month = now.getMonth() + 1;
var year = now.getYear();
currentDate = now.getMonth() + 1;
window.status = month + "/" + date + "/" + year + " thisdomain.com ";
var roundCDiv = document.getElementById('roundC');
var showDate = month + "/" + date + "/" + year;
//roundCDiv.innerHTML = showDate;
// countdown
var nextDateB = new Date("October 30, 2005");
var diffB = nextDateB.getTime() - now.getTime();
var daysLeftB = Math.ceil(diffB / (1000 * 60 * 60 * 24));
var roundBDiv = document.getElementById('countdown');
//roundBDiv.innerHTML = daysLeftB + " days until ...;
roundBDiv.innerHTML = daysLeftB;
roundBDiv.innerHTML = daysLeftB + " ";
}

I have been asked to make some changes to a form that uses Javascript for the form validation. There is a 'function' that contains the variables of the various form fields and then further code to raise 'alerts' if one of the fields on the form hasn't been filled in. My problem is that for some reason I am unable to add an extra variable to this code after the field of 'County' (this will hopefully make sense when you see the code / link...) and I am stumped as to why. I am able to add variables for all of the other required fields except for 'Postcode' after 'County'. This is the case for both forms. The link is here: [URL] and the code I am trying edit is below. The issues seems to be when I add && isPostcode() to this chunk of code:-
Code JavaScript:

I tried to create a function to reduce some in line code. However something is wrong with the function call getGenderChoice() because the code stops working. If I comment out getGenderChoice() and uncomment the lines that would be in the function it works properly. What would possibly be wrong with a function call that seems to follow function rules?

I am looking for a cross-browser way (Firefox 1+, IE 5.5+) to
have my Javascript function execute from the BODY's "onload" method,

I am using a simple slideshow script. I have a div on top of the image that contains text. I'd like the slide to forward to the next slide in the slideshow when the user clicks on that div (#slideshow-caption). Here's the code with the .click call. If you see anything else funky with the script, let me know.
function slideShow(speed) {
