JQuery :: Different FX Between Pager And Next / Prev Slide Toggles

Dec 20, 2011

I have a slideshow similar (albeit more sophisticated) to this example [URL]. However, I'm trying to make the slideshow accessible to all JAWS users, leveraging aria-live attributes appropriately.

The problem is this: I am using the fx: 'fade' transition (this is out in the wild and I'm unable to change it at this point). However, I have a hidden button that gains visibility on tab focus. When the 'next' button is triggered I need the cycle plugin to leverage NO fx at all or the screen readers will end up using the subsequent slide for reading content due to the opacity + display time delay with the fade fx.

Basically I want my slideshow to have 2 fx, one for the default behavior (fx: 'fade' for the pager links) which is fading from slide to slide, and another fx (fx: 'none') that is used to prevent aria-live issues with screen readers. Is this possible?

JQuery :: Cycle -- Hiding And Showing 'prev' And 'next' Links

Sep 15, 2010

well, I thought this wasn't a cycle question specifically, but it looks like it is. [URL]

in case it's not ok to just post link to my post about this on "using jQuery" forum:

this is code in cycle plugin to hide "next" nav at last slide, hide "prev" nav at first slide:

$('a#prev')[index == 0 ? 'hide' : 'show']();
$('a#next')[index == opts.slideCount - 1 ? 'hide' : 'show']();

but what if instead of just 'hide' and 'show' I want to call a function (because I want to, let's say, just change the font-color of the link instead of hiding it)? so I did:

$('a#next')[index == opts.slideCount - 1 ? 'disableNext' : 'showNext']();
}
function disableNext() {
$('a#next').css('color','EEEEEE');

[Code]....

(and what I actually want to do is change the link to a non-link by doing sthg like $('span....').html(change code to non-link..), etc... )

JQuery :: Cycle Plugin - Order Of Transitions While Using Prev / Next

May 24, 2011

I've been working with the Cycle plugin for a while, but the only problem I'm having is that if I pass a string of transition names (comma separated), the next button goes through them in the right order but the prev button does not use the previous transition as one would expect. It uses the next transition in the list given as input. I've looked around but I could only find people fixing it for scrolling horizontally. I want it to maintain the order of transitions passed as input, not a reverse animation effect.

JQuery :: Cycle Plugin - Hide Next And Prev Buttons With Several Slideshows?

Jan 26, 2011

I am using the jQuery cycle plugin for several slideshows at the same time in Drupal. The problem is when there is only one image in a slideshow, then I want the "prev" and "next" buttons to be hidden away. I can get:

Drupal.behaviors.image_slider = function (context) {
$('#block-views-work-block_1 .views-field-field-work-images-fid .field-content').each(function(i) {
$(this).after('<div class="slide-pager"').cycle({
fx: 'scrollHorz',
speed: 500,
timeout: 0,
nowrap: 1,
sync: 1,
easing: 'easeInOutQuint',
activePagerClass: 'active-slide',
pager: $('.slide-pager').eq(i),
prev: $('.prev').eq(i),
next: $('.next').eq(i),

after: function (curr,next,opts) {
$('.caption').eq(i).html(this.alt);
var msg = (opts.currSlide + 1) + ' av ' + opts.slideCount;
$('.msg').eq(i).html(msg);
}});
});
};

JQuery :: Fade In First Slide In Cycle?

Jul 7, 2009

I am using Cycle and I am trying to get the first slide to fade in. I am new to all of this and I just can't get it to work. I looked at the 2 examples that Mike has on his page, but I just don't know what exactly to put where with regards to the code. I am setting up a portfolio with simple fade transitions between each example. I am utilizing both a prev and next option with the paging feature as well. If someone could be pretty specific as to what code needs to go where,

At present, the slideshows pause on mouseout.I would like for each of them to return (paused) to the first slide instead. Ideally this return to the first slide would also be a fade transition.

The code in place at the moment is as follows:

<script src="/scripts/js/jquery.cycle.min.js"></script>

I have a sideshow to add to a clients site, my plan is to utilise the cycle plugin (correct me if I'm wrong, a little new to all this). The critical aspect is that we have an image which should only be seen once, this being the very first image in the set, this will carry into the cycle/slideshow, but when it loops/repeats i want to skip past this first image.

JQuery :: Cycle Plugin - Multiple DIVs Per Slide

Sep 21, 2010

I've been using the jQuery Cycle Plugin now for a variety of clients and feel pretty comfortable with implementing it and how it works. I rarely have any difficulties and it always seems to shave time off my projects. Its really is an awesome plugin that I am extremely grateful for. That being said I'm having a little difficulty with a more involved implementation on a personal project. [URL]. The plugin is working correctly - but not ideally.

Each image and title you see is a callout for a blog post. The posts are automatically added by calling the WordPress theme's "loop" - a PHP function loading the information and images from the last several posts written - then it displays each post's featured images, titles, and other info inside divs labeled "post". Afterward, the jQuery cycle plugin uses all the "post" div's to create a great user-interactive recent blog-post slider - using (my favorite) vertScroll effects.

What I'm looking for is a way to display 2-3 posts at a time instead of just 1. I've seen people have 2-3 images displaying per scroll by adding two-three images into a div - and then having that div (with more divs) cycle. What prevents me from doing something like that here is the fact that the list of blog-posts is dynamically populated by PHP. There isn't a way (I know of) to insert a </div> after 2-3 posts and then open a new <div> for the next 2-3 so that the cycle plugin knows where to stop the scroll content.

JQuery :: Cycle Shows Last Slide For Split Second Before Starting Up?

Sep 2, 2011

Have cycle plugin implemented and it is functioning correctly except for the page quickly flashes the third slide before the rotation starts up.

I was able to assign opacity: 0 in the CSS for webkit and Firefox browsers that hides all three <LI>'s before it starts and that works. However, IE (even with filter: alpha(opacity=0);) won't take.

I tried using the cssBefore option but it throws an error when I try to put thefilter: alpha(opacity=0), into it.

Heres' the current code:

jQuery('.video-gallery').each(function() {
var holder = jQuery(this),
list = jQuery('.video-holder > ul', this),
switcher = jQuery('.items > ul', this),
