<form> Action Should Popup In Same Window And Focus()
Feb 17, 2006
I am using a standard html <form> to send data to a pop up calculating somthing.
I want all coming requests to go to the same window.
Quite easy with forms since we have the target attribute, thus target="calculating_window".
However future <form> submitted entries will appear in the "calculating_window" window, but keep behind the current active window (with the <form> formular). The user therefore cannot see new entries beeing calculated.
I tried working with a OnClick thing with the submit button and javascript focus(), but i just can't get i to work. Any suggestions?
I have a page where it accesses the same popup a couple times. When I click 'Help' it opens the popup then goes to the section. But, if i go back to the other page, and click another link to the popup which goes to another section, it doesn't re-focus on the popup window.
The sections are accessed by the '#SECTION' link...
Code:
<a href="javascript:helppage('help.htm#Section','title');">Help</a> How can I focus on it when it goes to a new section when the popup is already open?
I have this ads on my webpage that popup whenever you go somewhere (obviously prett annoying ). So my question is: how can I make so the previous window I was at gets focus and the popup doesnt. My thoughts was on making it with the onLoad function after you popup the popup but its stops there.
The crux of the problem is I only know if the popup *has been* opened, but not if it *is* open. Therefore, the script doesn't know whether to simply refocus, or whether to popup a fresh window.
Are these the only solutions? * handle onerror in some creative way * hidden frames
BTW, I do have the luxury of ignoring non IE 5.5+ browsers on this project..
I am working on a ASP.NET application and have some forms that require to be popped up and let the user edit information on them. These windows must stay in focus until closed, but I have having some issues implementing this.
We are targeting IE explorers and have tried the showModal() which is exactly what we require (as it forces the user to the window till complete) but the page cannot refresh/postback which is what we need.
I also tried the on blur = self.focus() but that doesnt work either as when I user clicks the textbox on that popup to update a datagrid the focus is taken off the textbox and to the window again.
What I'm trying to achieve it a popup window that has focus until complete and allows the window to refresh as it requires use to update & delete a datagrid. Any ideas?
I have an html button that calls & open another browser window on the onmouseup event, but once I close the popup new browser window my button has focus & is like selected.
I want it not to be selected or clicked or has focus, how do i loose the focus after close of popup window?
I've got this hidden div that pops up using jQuery when the login menu item is clicked. <div class="entry-wrapper" id="reg-login" style="display:none;"> <div class="t"></div> <div id="loginFormHolder" class="c"> <div class="close"> <a href="index.php" class="spotlight-close"> </a> </div> <!-- close --> <div class="login"> <div> <!-- blank --> ..... What I'm trying to do is setting the input focus on the user_session_username text input and the code is not working. The div pops up but the focus is never put into the user_session_username edit field.
I have a popup window which has the search form in. What I want to do is for the popup window to close once the form is submitted, and to post the form data to a page on the main window.
Is anyone able to advise. As the main page is dynamic, it is not possible to give the page a name.
Im trying to create a hidden form field in a parent window from within a child window (popup). I am trying to use jQuery, but unfortunately the hidden field does not get created.
I have a form that is in a popup window. I need the form to submit to the opener window. Is is possible to do that? The opener window is the main window so it is does not have a name and there are no framesets.
<form action="something.php" method="post" target="????"> I'd like to use window.opener in the target but that's JavaScript...
I know somebody has done this before and has the code.
I have come across a very interesting problem that seems to be impossible to solve. Basically a web application that I am working on relies on a JavaScript function called go to change the input named view to the page name and submit the form. This form's type is post, so no values are included in the actual URL string. There is also another input called action and it's value is view. This is to tell the application that the user would like to view a page. The problem is because of the variables being of method post, page refreshes and back and forwards return errors because the post variables view and action aren't sent with the required data. To somewhat solve this problem I have created a feature that tells the application that if the post value page is empty then to try and get a GET var called page. To insert this var into the go javascript function I simple add this code
This line basically adds &page=[page] to the action of the form. The problem is, this code doesn't work because action is also the name of a form element. Referencing document.go.action refers to the input element named action and not to the form's action. Changing the named of the action input value is out of the question (Way to much changing of code, and possible room for error). What can I do to change the action of the form without referencing the input named action. Here is my go form and the JavaScript code:
I have a form which open in a jQuery Fancybox Window. The fancybox window opens automatically when the page loads. When it loads, I would like it to set focus on the username field in the form in the Fancybox window. I have found that this must be done when fancybox is envoked, thus I have tried the below code which does not work :
Here is a short and sweet code snippet for submitting a form to a popup window. It only requires modifying the <form> tag a bit. Non-JavaScript users simply get a regular new window. <form action="formParser.php" method="POST" target="newFormWindow" onsubmit="window.open('about:blank', 'newFormWindow', 'width=340,height=260');">
I am created a site where personal messages will be sent to other members. To do this I want to allow users to either type in the users seperating their name by ; (ie Joe Bloggs; Michael Jackson; Fred Flintstone). or alternativly have a popup box where all the names on the database are displayed in a list with a check box next to the names. I will be using PHP to interact with the database and know about this
My problem is getting details from the popup box and displaying them in the text field on the main browsers form? So if in the popup box the user checked Michael Jackson's name how would I get Michael Jackson to dispaly in the main browers field (input name ="to")?
Need some working sample code to post hidden form data from a php page to a new popup window. 540 x 500 centered. The popup that I'm calling already is formatted and has a TITLE:web-2007.php so what I need to do is to write the values from the PHP page to that popup in specific places.
Some of the hidden values are also like this format;
Put a link on my page that will open an external site (over which I have no control) in a pop-up window. When the user closes the pop-up, I want my original page to redirect to another page. The difficulty I'm having is that I can't add any code to the page in the pop-up as it's not my site.
I have a very weired problem (which is not easy to describe.. but I'll do my best):I have a html page with several forms , only one of the got the action="ComputeAndReturn" and the other forms got only name="" tag.the problem is that after i submit the form with the action , and than after a computatioon it returns to the original page, now... if i will submit any of the forms without the action=.they will act as if they were defined action="ComputeAndReturn" (altho they are not!)if they were defined from the first time with action="anything", and than i would submit the form with action="ComputeAndReturn" this problem would not appear (the other forms will keep their action="anything" and would not "imitate" the action= "Compute AndReturn" to them selfs...
any ideas how can i keep my forms without action="" , cause all i need them to do is be submitted to pass the submitted value to other form inside that page.[code]
How can I create a popup window in a form without showing the status, menubar, location and with width of 502 and height 550?
I was doing something like this, it will popup a window, but I do not want to show the status, menubar, location, etc. The form is submitted to other site.
I dont know much about the functionality on what causes some popups to trigger a browsers blocker and some not to.
Situation: I have an account information page (where users can edit their account details) one of the fields the user can edit comes at a cost. For billing I am using a 3rd party billing portal (standard form action pointing to the service & value is passed via post variable)
-user hits submit (not on the 3rd party billing form, my fake ajax button)a service is selected that cost $1 (lets say)verification DB is updated (no page reload)value field is updated in the 3rd party billing form to reflect the additional service I then initiate the form submit on the 3rd party billing form into a popup window I do not want to user to leave the site, I want the $1 billing window to pop up, they take care of it then close the window returning back to the site. In order to get the form to popup in a window I set the forms target to the popup window:
Code: window.open("", paysys, "width=760,height=550"); functionality everything is working perfect, except most browsers catch the popped up window in their popup blockers. Anyone know how I can create a popup that isnt flagged by the browsers?
I am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work
when a popup window appear, can I force users to focus on the popup window "ONLY" that mean, if users don't close the popup window, they can't do anything to other ie window (include close the opener window...etc)
I'm trying to get a popup to keep focus when it is re-clicked. The script below is supposed to produce this exact behaviour, however it doesn't work, at least on firefox 1.0.7 and moz 1.7.12 (linux kubuntu). It does work with konqueror....
I have an input element on a form. When I open a popup form and then close it, I try to put the focus back on my input element by using the focus() method. However, that fails and it doesn't get focus. When I press tab to get out of this input element, it takes several tries for it to get the tab event (since it wasn't focused, but how come it suddenly gets focus to respond later?)
In my application i use window.showmodaldialog() to pop up a window. When i run it in IE pop up blocker wont blocks the window... But when run it in FireFox pop up blocker will blocks the pop up window.. is there any way to open a window with out blocking(avoiding ) by the pop up blocker?
I'm having trouble with Safari. After i close a popup it does not focus on the parent window. I have been looking around and i think its this sort of thing i need 'javascript:window.opener.focus()" target="_self"' but tbh i'm not in anyway a javascript whizz, so im a little confused.
Is there a way to set the focus on a form field without using focus()? I use ajax to build the form and if I try to set the focus using focus() an error is generate because of the form hasn't been built by ajax. So, it would be nice if I could set the focus() as I built the form.
