I just want to show something like "OCT 2009", etc.
I have this reservation form found on the main page of: http://www.avis.com.lb/
As you can see the current month "August" is selected as the default month and so is the year and day (the day is programmed to jump 2 days ahead for the renting of the car...)
However if you look closely (check the screenshot attached) you'll see that the month "August" is repeated twice and so is the year "2009", the current month is repeated twice. What I wanna do is remove the duplication and just auto select the current month without duplicating it.code...
I have 3 selects in a form for day, month and year for the user to enter his/her birthday.What I'm looking for is a piece of code / script which will dynamically change the day dropdown menu dependent on the month which is selected to display the correct number of days, and also according to if it is a leap year.Ive tried looking on google but I'm not sure what the correct term is to look for?

disable select until user puts mark in check box. Then enable select.I have two select box's on a page. The first asks what product, the second is based on the first and presents a list of pdf's according to which product the user selected. (yes, multi dimensional)What I have works fine, but now i need to make the user put a check mark in a check box before the First SELECT box becomes enabled/available.So basically, when they agree, they can get the download.Here are my select boxes.
HTML Code:
<form>
<select name="category" style="width:180px"></select>
<select name="site" style="width:180px" onchange="openLink(this.value)"></select>[code]....
(ignore the The 'open' button. It's there in case the default option is what the user wants, so they don't have reselect via the select box.)
1. How do I disable the select boxes by default on page load?
2. How do I detect that the user has put a tick in and the enable the disabled Select box?
I have a ColdFusion page with a select drop down list. On submit, I'm storing the value in a cfparam and trying to use jQuery to auto select that particular option. Currently I'm using :contains but this is unacceptable because it selects the last item that contains the cfparam.
$("option:contains('<cfoutput>#form.company_type#</cfoutput>')").attr('selected', 'selected');
Is there something like this:
$("option").equals('<cfoutput>#form.company_type#</cfoutput>')").attr('selected', 'selected');

I'm using a text area to display textual updates to a user from the server. I'm inserting the text at the bottom of the textarea and need to set the scrollbar to the bottom of the textarea after every update. The problem is that the onChange event only fires if the user actually changes something in the text area, not if it is changed by an ajax update.Does anyone know of a way to detect if there has been an update to a textarea that was NOT triggered by a user?

I am working on a class registration system that requires students to register for a main class (101, 102 or 103). The student is supposed to select one main course as well as provide a second choice in case the first is not available. I have two dropdown select fields to capture data
1) Choice -1: 101 / 102 / 103 ( Student needs to select one - Reading the classID from classes table)
2) Choice -2: 101 / 102 / 103 ( If student selects 101 in Choice-1 then the only classes available under Choice-2 should be 102 or 103).
How can I accomplish the above? Further to this there are two fields on the form where I would like to auto populate based on what they have selected in Choice-1 and Choice-2.
For Example:
If a parent selects choice1: 101 the child Choice1 field should autopopulate with 100.
If a parent selects Choice2: 201 the child Choice2 field should autopopulate with 200

I have this code that unhides a select box when the user clicks in the parent li containing it. Now I just want the .focus to seem more natural to the user as if they had just clicked in a normal select. As it stands, you have to click on it again to make it active (view the selections..)
$(function(){
$('li.col1').click(function(){
$(this).find('select').removeClass('nodisplay').focus();

I'm working on a content management system for my website, and when you add a new user, there is an option to select the users class, such as member, moderator, administrator. I want to make it that when moderator or admin is selected, a new table row appears under it showing options for the users permissions. Also, the PHP script for adding users checks the information for errors. If there are errors, it will display them. All of the form info is posted to the error page. Therefore if moderator or admin is selected, the permissions need to come up as well.

I am working on a little project here. I have two arrays (States, Cities) I am trying to allow the user to chose one from a select form (Choice) and then have the values of the chosen array displayed in a alert(). Obviously I could just write an if statement and display the required content depending on whether the value selected == States or Cities. But this project is just a placeholder project for me to figure out one aspect of a much larger project I am working on. And it is important for the result to be chosen dynamically as in the final project I won't know the values that the select field is being filled with.
What I need to do is take the value returned from the select field (Choice) and turn that into the name of the array and display that. If I use this code alert(States); then it returns the values of that array. But like I said I need to be able to dynamically select what array to display based on users input.
alert(document.getElementById("Choice").value); returns the value chosen. How can I take the value chosen and actually display the value of the array with that same name. In other words let JS know that I don't literally want it to display the value chosen but rather the value chosen is the name of the array I want it to display?
Pseudo code
x = document.getElementById("Choice").value;
x is name of array;
alert(x);
I need to use Javascript or similar to do this, but not certain. I want to set up a form in HTML to sell photo prints. I'd like the user to be able to select a print size (eg 4x6 or 5x8 or 7x9) and as a result, two values are set:
1. the print size in text (eg Ɗ" x 6" print')
2. the price of the print (eg $5.00)
How do I code my form so that two values are set at once, and if the user changes their mind (eg selects 5x8), the two values are set again.
I have a script which allows me to select random users from one select field to another and works like a charm, but... I want to be able to get random users from one select field to multiple (lets say 2) other select fields...
So lets say that I have 5 users in the first field (select1):
James
Bill
Jennifer
Bob
Karen
Now when I press a button:
<input value="" type="button" onClick="randomusers();" />
2 users a moved to select2 and other 2 users is moved to select3.
My current script is as follows:
Code:
function randomusers(){
var given = 2, used = {}, randnum, opts = $('#select1 option'), olen = opts.length, hiddiv = $('#hiddendiv');
function ran() { // generate a unique random number
random = Math.floor(Math.random() * olen);
return used['u'+randnum] ? ran() : randnum;
} for (var i = 0; i < given; i++) { // get the correct quantity of randoms
used['u'+ran()] = true;
} var players = opts.filter(function(index) { // remove all options that are not one of the randoms
return !!used['u'+index];
}).appendTo('#select2');}
