why the following code (which counts the remaining allowed chars in html-textarea) does not work in Firefox although it works in all other browsers, IE including?
I use this code to create a div element with inside a text and a button, for than adding this div in a cell of the jquery grid. Everything works fine with firefox and IE instead in chrome I found out with alerts that only the click of the button is added, the other handlers like change and keyup NO or are not triggered.
myJQGrid.myElemKodi = function (value, option, disabled, lastsel2, id) { var el3 = $('<div></div>'); var textField = $('<input type="text" />');
I'm having trouble setting this keyup event w/ jquery. The first alert fires fine, but the second alert doesn't. This is driving me nuts. My textbox does have the name and id set to "typename".
The reason I ask, is I have a barcode scanner and I want to be able to trigger a submit button next to the matching product on scanning the barcode. So basically, the user can open the page (and may have clicked on some elements already) then scan a product which will input a 13 digit number and the submit button with that matching id will be clicked/submitted. This is easy enough to do if I use a text input, but I a) don't want the user to have to click in the text box first. b) don't want the user to have to delete the text box to scan the next product.
Perhaps it can be done somehow with a hidden field that automatically resets on each scan?!?
The scanner works just like a keyboard as I have used it to filter products with keyup() in a text field...so it does actually activate keyup(). So it should have exactly the same affect if you type the numbers manually.
Alright, I'm trying to make these variables pass through as a post, but it's not receiving any posts through the other side. When I use the GET method though, it picks it up.
I have below code to create two ajax requests. When ajax requests fetched, they alert the related request number.
Code JavaScript: function ajaxIt(url,num){ var req = new XMLHttpRequest();[code]....
why removing var phrase overwrites requestNum value for two different asynchronous functions? How can I make sure variables are not overwritten by different function calls?
this will not work on change. also the innerhtml wont display. please help. here is the js:
function checkemail(){ if (document.suform.email.value && document.suform.emailcheck.value) { if (document.suform.email.value == document.suform.emailcheck.value)
I am using ajax in my site and want to implement a friend request button. When a user clicks this button their userid and the userid of the friend thwey are requesting will go into a table called notifications in my mysql database. This works fine in regular html/php with javascript disabled but not when using javascript/ajax.
Here's my code which may clarify things:-
Code:
<script type="text/javascript"> function makeRequest(friendrequestloggedinuserid, friendrequestuserid) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
[Code]....
The above code works perfect if javascript is disabled and the button is clicked as the new row is inserted into the database however if javascript is enabled the alert shows inidicating the ajax file is working but the new row is not inserted. Is this something to do with the POST process between my javascript code and my ajax_processrequests.php file?
BTW $loggedinuserid and $userid are retrieved earlier on in my code but showing how they are retrieved is irrelevant to this because I know they are present at the point of the above code.
I want to call a javascript function when a <span> is clicked, pass two variables to it, and then use jquery to hide that span.
A simple example is:
The variables (1,3) & (8,9) are loaded dynamically with a php script. Adding the two variables together isn't the intent of the script, but it seems the simplest way to explain what i'm after.
So how do you get $(this) to work in a function that has to have variables passed to it?
I need help getting variables in an external js file to transfer to the html page that uses them. I have an html page that lists verses to memorize, which, when the mouse hovers over a particular verse, a small popup reveals the book reference for that verse, thus giving a check to see if the user has accurately referenced that verse for its source.
I have an external js file (VERSES.js) that houses the verses and popup references sequentially as elements in an array and then writes them to the html document. A simplifed version of what I am using, with only a few verses listed here as an example, and that works beautifully, is given below: Code:
function validate_form(){ if(regform.reguser.value == ""){ alert("Please completed the selected box");[code]....
to validate a simple registration form, however I initially tried to streamline this function by cycling through an array using a loop to point to various input elements in the HTML page itself. I found that when trying to use a variable in the aforementioned if statements the javascript failed to work i.e.
var test = "reguser"; if(regform.test.value = ""){ }
I know the javascript is looking for the input element "test" instead of "reguser" but is there any way I can force it to look for the contents of the variable.
<script language="JavaScript"> <!-- Begin var msg="I am flashing!"; var speed=300; var visible=0; function Flash() { if (visible = 0) { window.status=msg; visible=1; } else { window.status=" "; visible=0;:confused: } setTimeout('Flash()', speed); } // End --> </script>
I cant get to know how can i make a dynamic box work with sql!i found this code online which takes in the values from database and puts it in combo box one,once a field in combo box one is selected the related field will be displayed in combo box two.its like country and state combo box but from sql database. it does not load from database the field for combo box one.
I have an input textbox that I am using to create (and populate) paragraph tags below it depending on the content that is in the textbox at that very specific time. There is an add button to the right of the textbox that adds the contents and clears it for another entry.
The reason I need keyup for this is because I need to get the value of the textbox on the fly. With the example I've enclosed, it seems to output every key event since page load, and I don't want that. I want the result from the last keypress, which I will then add and start again.
How would i make it so basically everytime you keyup it would post that data in the url without refreshing so when a user clicks on a link they searched for and go back it will have whatever they typed last in the search bar?
I try to make a script which check's input's value every time when value changes. There must be ready example somewhere, but I just could not found it. The value shoud be hex-color-value (like #FFFFFF), so script should check if the first character is # and after that only characters a-f, A-F and 0-9 are ok. I guess it goes something like this:
function checkHex(value) { // if value string includes only characters # a-f A-F 0-9 value is ok // else value is not ok } <input type="text" id="hex_input" onkeyup="checkHex(this)" />
I am using the following code to add a keyup event listener to the body tag. It works fine in Webkit and Chrome but FF and IE just do nothing. The event never fires. However, no javascript errors occur in any browser.
here is the code:
Code:
var Body = new Object(); Body.trackKeys = function (target){ if( document.getElementsByTagName("BODY")[0].addEventListener ) {
I have a webpage with addition questions for numeracy training. I am storing the sums in a table(id="sums"), with an empty textbox(id=ans1) for the user to type the answer. After the user types an answer and moves onto the next Q, I want to activate a popup dispaying if the answer is correct or not. I am tackling this with onmouseout. The script checks the answer, then displays a confirm message if correct or and alert message if wrong. The onmouseout is not working
I must have a syntax error, because this function crashes the entire script (even the other functions).
function newNote() { allNotes = document.getElementById('notes-stickies-app').innerHTML; secondadder = 1;
[code]...
EDIT: to get to the stickies part, click the apple menu, and click stickies. you'll see how the stickies wont drag because this script that adds new stickies has a problem.
