Calculating Total Price Based On Extra Data In Form Field?
Nov 2, 2009
I need the value of my drop down box options to contain size information rather than price. However I would like to be able to calculate a price for the items based on what size the user selects as well as the quantity. Below is the code I came up with (which doesn't work obviously)What can I do to get this to work for me?
i am currently developing a cart for a website at my company.What i am attempting to do is update the grand total field dynamically as the product total (determined by quantity & price) are being populated.Each product in the cart is being generated by a foreach (php) reading from a mysql database.As the total values are not being prepopulated im not exactly sure what the logic would be to get the desired values.
I will also mention im relatively new to the whole web development area, i started begining of this year and feel i could still learn alot about the 'logic' of a computer.If anything is unclear about what i stated above feel free to request additional information.
I have everything working up to this point but when I try and put the math equation into my script section, I get multiple error and cannot figure out how to get the function to return the actual total rental cost.Below is the code with the math function at the end of the script section in the heading which I seem to be receiving error on.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">[code].........
I am trying to have a form calculate total using this script, works OK until the total reaches 99 from there on it only returns 2 figures. Also it won't work if I complete the dollar value (i.e add .00)
<script type="text/javascript"> function startCalc(){ interval = setInterval("calc()",1);[code]....
I am more of a front end guy with experience in xhtml/css and want to get my hands dirty with some back-end programming (Javascript/jQuery/AJAX/PHP) and was wondering about a specific task involving (mainly) what I would believe is AJAX.
I was wondering if there is a way to have a page with a starting price of $299 (lets say a basic vacuum) then below that are 20 or so customizable add-ons to choose from through simple checkboxes. That (to me) should be easy enough, but I would love to have the grand total at the bottom of the page be updated in real time as the user checks or unchecks certain add-ons (kind like how apple.com does it).
What is a good starting point for this, and would it be possible to send out the order as an email with the total price sent to the business owner.

I'm stuck with this one since my knowledge of javascript is very low, PHP I'm ok with but this is a new language to me. Anyway, I have a form (a table-less one) which I would like to have the ability to add extra file fields if needed. One is already placed but I would like the user to have the option to add more photos. Here's my html:
Mootools 1.3 user here. I am just wondering if I can pass extra data along with form values when I use the $('myform').submit(); method.
I am wondering if there's anyway to attach data the same way you do with a Request object (ie: Request.send(data) or do I have to create hidden inputs in my form to pass the values?
The reason is some parts of my form are dynamic. The user can add as many entries as he wants. Those entries are stored in an object that's a module's property (Modyle.property = {obj, obj, obj}).
I am wondering if I'll have to iterate through the entries and create hidden inputs for each before submitting the form or can I just create a string that I can pass with my Form.submit() statement?
I am trying to find a way to add an extra piece of hidden text onto the end of the text a user enters into the form field so that when the form is sent the extra text will automatically be added to the end before sending. I have tried cobbling together different scripts using onblur/onclick etc but I just cannot get any to work as I need..
I'm working on a financial form that is filled out and then a pdf is outputted (via php).
I'm an xhtml/css and php guy but new to javascript - I'm sure there's got to be a way to do the following with js...
I've got a section for "project costs" with 4 fields (numeric is expected). I'd like to add a 5th field "Total Project Cost" that adds all the inputs of the first 4 fields on the fly as they are typed (or at least, after focus changes).
Also I'd like to have a field which defaults to "10" and a drop down with 3 items that will either add 0, 5 or 10 to the field which defaults to 10.
sample code, whereby if I change a field value in a web form (from a drop-down list for example), the value shown in another field is automatically updated to show the needed value for that selected option?
I have been trying to write a script that allows a user to click on a button like a plus sign to add an additional field for a phone number when they have more than one phone number to enter. I have created a script that sort of does this. It doubles up what is already there, so, the first time, everything is fine, but after that I get a lot more fields than I want. I am a php programmer and not familiar enough with javascript to get to what I want. My script is included below. What I am doing here is retrieving the html content and then adding it to what is already there. In php I would use an if conditional test to see if the data has been retrieved.
The first time it would retrieve the data into a variable. After that it would not retrieve it. I think I am getting into some scope and sequence issues here. Javascript is a bit different than php in these regards. Also there is a commented line in the code that asks another question about the use of variables that I don't understand. I also tried using appendChild() here to no avail. I couldn't get that to work at all.
I'm trying to get the total price of a dropdown value to change.eg. When Option 5 is selected the total at the bottom should display 12.00.I've already managed to get this code working with radio buttons but can't seem to get it to work with dropdown menus.
now the problem occurs when i put more rows there then the javascript function does not work anymore, my ultimate goal is to create a function to add tablerows with javascript, but i'm trying to create the update function with a static situation first.
Firstly, I got this script which gets values and automatically calculates it and shows result. Script: <script type="text/javascript"> function calculate(f){ var prod=Number(f['users'].value); var quan=Number(f['months'].value); var tot=prod*quan; f['total'].value=tot==0?'':tot.toFixed(2); } </script> <ul><li class="bold">Users</li> <li> <select name="users" onchange="calculate(this.form)" id="users"> <option value='1'>1</option> <option value='2'>2</option> </select> </li></ul> <ul><li class="bold">Period</li><li> <select name="months" onchange="calculate(this.form)" id="months"> <option value=''>Select Months</option> <option value='1'>1 Month</option> <option value='2'>2 Months</option> </select></li></ul> Total: <input type="text" name="total" readonly="readonly">
What I'm trying to make is, the total, to be in a div and not input type text Something like <div id="total"></div> I don't like because it shows in form, I want it directly. One more thing, is possible to make the default price 0.00 ? and when selecting automatically changes to price..
What I'm trying to do is, a jquery script to show in real time the total price. I got this: <li>Users</li> <li> <select name="users" id="users"> <option value='1'>1</option> <option value='2'>2</option> <option value='3'>3</option> <option value='4'>4</option> <option value='5'>5</option> <option value='6'>6</option> <option value='7'>7</option> <option value='8'>8</option> <option value='9'>9</option> <option value='10'>10</option> </select> </li>
1 Month and 1 User price should be 0.50 USD +1 Month = + 0.50 USD + 1 User = + 0.50 USD Example: 5 Users + 2 Months = 3.50 USD I wanna make the jquery to show the total price at li class="price".
I'm creating a website where users won't need to register but can vote for one thing once per day. What I'm having trouble with however is how to go about calculating each vote, and displaying the total votes next to each item. Every a time user votes, I want the total to be updated and shown in the red areas next to the choices that can be voted for.
I've been given this ridiculous assignment where I have to create a shopping web page.finding the javascript codes that will allow the user to update their total as they enter the quantities of the different products in the assigned text boxes.I don't even know where to start because we were never taught how to do this in class!
As soon as a user types in an integer into one of the quantity boxes the total quantity gets updated. How exactly would i do this? I can make it update the total quantity after a user hit's a Validate button or any button, but i cant make it update in real time.
I found this useful script for setting equal column height for divs. But is doesn't account for the padding inside the divs. How to make it calculate the total height including the padding from the heighest column?
I have a program in which a user must enter number of books and price and then calculate the total cost of the items, i have tried and tried to get it working to no effect can anyone see where i have went wrong.
Is there a way I can calculate a field in a form based on another field in the same form. When clicking submit, both values should be posted to the next page. I want to be able to type in a value in one field, and automatically in a second field the value*1,36 should appear.
I have a registration form that I am working on in which I need to assign a price to each option in a selection box then write that price in the document.Then I have a radio button that will add (different amounts based on selection) to that price before it is written. Then I have another radio button that just needs to write a price based on its selection. Both of these values will be written and then totaled. (See below for a less confusing explanation)
On HTML form: >drop down list (name courseName, value of selections 1,2,3,4) > radio button (name returnStudent, value of selections 1,2)
