Calculating Total Height Including Padding Inside DIVs
Feb 11, 2011
I found this useful script for setting equal column height for divs. But is doesn't account for the padding inside the divs. How to make it calculate the total height including the padding from the heighest column?
I am trying to get the height of a div that is inside 7 other divs. I noticed the height() method works with the first and second div, but it does not work after that.
Example : <div id="first"> <--------------------------- $("first").height(); works ![code]....
how to get the height of a div that is inside multiple other divs ?
So, I'm new to jQuery, but have a pretty good understanding. Still, I've come across an issue that I'm not quite sure how to resolve. I'm using wordpress, and have a .swf inside of a div, "player." The player class has no height spec, as the height of the .swf is different depending on the page. What I need to do is detect the height of the .swf on each page, and then apply that number as padding-top to another class?
I'm creating a website where users won't need to register but can vote for one thing once per day. What I'm having trouble with however is how to go about calculating each vote, and displaying the total votes next to each item. Every a time user votes, I want the total to be updated and shown in the red areas next to the choices that can be voted for.
I have everything working up to this point but when I try and put the math equation into my script section, I get multiple error and cannot figure out how to get the function to return the actual total rental cost.Below is the code with the math function at the end of the script section in the heading which I seem to be receiving error on.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">[code].........
I've been given this ridiculous assignment where I have to create a shopping web page.finding the javascript codes that will allow the user to update their total as they enter the quantities of the different products in the assigned text boxes.I don't even know where to start because we were never taught how to do this in class!
I am trying to have a form calculate total using this script, works OK until the total reaches 99 from there on it only returns 2 figures. Also it won't work if I complete the dollar value (i.e add .00)
<script type="text/javascript"> function startCalc(){ interval = setInterval("calc()",1);[code]....
I need the value of my drop down box options to contain size information rather than price. However I would like to be able to calculate a price for the items based on what size the user selects as well as the quantity. Below is the code I came up with (which doesn't work obviously)What can I do to get this to work for me?
I am working on a UI that, when you click on a menu option, a div opens and show three divs inside. These divs all have different heights. The heights are based on the divs content.The problem I'm having is... how do I measure what the divs height should be? IE, how do I grab the height for a div BEFORE it has had any style applied to it.
I have a div that is absolutely positioned and stretch on all sides using top: 10px; left: 10px; bottom: 10px; right: 10px; When I try to get the height of the div, using $('#id').height(); I get 0 (zero). Is there a problem calculating the height of elements like this one, or am I missing something?
I am working on outlet pages of an online store.There are 4 products displayed on each row.On that store, products are displayed with images,product name, model no., price and buttons.For some products, the name is longer, for some price is longer.I am using <td> for displaying each information.The problem is - the height of the name's <td> and price's <td> are different for different products.I want a JS code which can detect the biggest height (for each row separately) from both the above td's separately and assign the maximum height to the corresponding 3 td's of that row.This should be done for each row separately.note : I an right now using this code - But it takes the height of both td's for 1st product only and assign it to all the products.
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var ht1 = document.getElementById("name_td1").offsetHeight; document.getElementById("name_td1").style.height = ht1;
I'm working on a script to pass the content height to some other element. The whole script is within the document ready function, but somehow Google Chrome thinks the content height is 0 (zero), because it's so fast. When I set a timeout it works correctly, but I don't really like this solution because of the delay.
var contentHeight = ($('body').height(); setTimeout(function() { var contentHeight = ($('body').height();
I want to enhance the script to increment the index of the last List element in the last row of my table.
Here's my jsp snippet:
My jQuery script is as follows:
The table i want to insert a row to has class 'tableAddRow' and the button that adds a new row has class 'addRow'. The problem I'm having is that when i click the addRow button, the browser freezes and a popup to stop the script comes up.
The content is coming from an Ajax request. The content gets used more than once on the page for other purposes which is why I don't simply change the iframe src--I have to do an ajax request regardless so I'm trying to avoid multiple calls.
After I load the content, I need modify the height of the iframe so it fits snuggly around the content.
Calculating the height isn't a problem with the exception that it's not always correct and I think it's because the calculation is happening before images have downloaded.
I don't seem to be able to rely on a `load` or `ready` event to delay the calculation. The load event is the only one that tiggers on a change of iframe content, but it doesn't see the new content.
I have a div in which I've placed some anchor tags with the css property code...
I've given the div a grey background color and when I view the page on the net the div doesn't surround the anchor tags. The height of the div seems to be the padding, top and bottom, added together.
Any ideas on how I can get the div to inherit the height of the items contained in it? code...
I came across JQuery when searching for a solution to get matching column height with Divs. I have downloaded JQuery which appears to be one file named jquery-1.3.2.min I also have the following short script that I found, which I believe goes in the head area of the page.
The script works with jquery.
HOW TO DO:
1. I assume I need to rename my download file jquery-1.3.2.min to jquery.js ?
2. Do I need to edit the jquery file somehow in order to get the above script to work?
Is it possible to have an iFrame set at 100% so that you will not need to scroll up or down inside the actual page? I have been searching for a while now and one thing to note is that the source file is from another web site (with permission) and is https on an http page. The code works fine but I cant seem to get the 100% height.
Is there a way that I could get id values of input fields that are inside certain divs and these divs have same class. For example say I have this code (simplified):
I want to hide all divs inside a specific div. Fx. <div name="theDiv"> <div id="hidden">hidden div</div> </div> I would think it was: document.getElementsByName('theDiv').getElementsByTag('div').style.visibility="visible"; But that doesn't work?
I have around thirty divs inside a master div. These divs contain each one a dot image of a dotted line. I want to create an animation with this dots so each one will set its opacity from 0 to 1 a tenth of a second one after the other. I know this should be very simple to do with a loop but I don't know how to loop through the divs inside a master div.I have a few lines of code from jquery to set opacity but other than that I dont know how to do what I want.
I'm pretty new to JavaScript and I've been searching for a way to toggle the visibility of many divs with images inside. Basically I want to have nothing visible, then I have three links that represent three categories of the images. So for example if the user clicks the link "Illustration" I want all the divs with the class illustration to appear. But when the user chooses a new link say, "typography" I want to hide the divs with class illustration and then show the divs with class typography.
