Xmlhttp.open "GET" During Browser Post?
Jul 23, 2005
Anyone know if it's possible to speak with the server via xmlhttp.open while the browser is doing a post -- file upload in this case:
<form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="product" method="post" name="product" onSubmit="do_action_form(); return true;">

I tried POSTing from XMLHttpRequest, i can get the XML right on server
but responseXML from server is coming null. I can see the XML right in
responseText. but responseXML is null. responseText to DOM conversion
also fails while the XML in responseText seems valid ..

Currently transitioning from a shared host to a dedicated server. The
same code that works on the old server is not working on the dedicated
server. It is a simple AJAX request like:
<code>
function createXMLHttpRequest() {
if (window.ActiveXObject) {
xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
else if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
xmlHttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
}
function doRequestUsingPOST() {
createXMLHttpRequest();
var queryString = "response.php?";
queryString = queryString + createQueryString() ;
xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = handleStateChange;
xmlHttp.open("POST", queryString, true);
xmlHttp.send(null);
}
</code>
With the code as is above, the requests works fine in IE. With Firefox
it throws a 403 on the page. A call to the response.php page with
parameters runs correctly outside of AJAX. Changing all POST requests
to GET resolves the issue, but I would prefer not to have to change
ALL POST requests to GET requests.
Does anyone know of a setting on the new server that can cause FireFox
(1.5.x and 2.0.x) to return a 403 with an AJAX post call?

So, my url looks like index.php?id=2&name=test&place=14
There is a next link that uses an onClick= to call an ajax function. This ajax function runs this php script (bar_next.php) behind the scenes.
I need to put just the id value into the code below.
xmlhttp.open("GET","bar_next.php?id=URL VALUES GO HERE",false);

I have searched the forums for a solution, however I cant seem to find one. Forgive me if there was and I couldnt find it. My problem is that every time I send my form, the script stops at the line xmlhttp.open("GET",url,true); and says access is denied. I know there are security issues, but I am using php to send the information to the script. The goal here is to scan the url for all the contents from google search. I am searching for a city, state and postal zip. That will give the according information. Here is my code:
var xmlhttp;
function getdata(){
xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject();
if (xmlhttp==null){
[Code]....
This should solve the security issue but i am still getting the access denied error at the same line. I even tried redoing it all in javascript still no luck.

I have a main.php page with multiple divs. I load whole pages in these divs using AJAX. Some of these pages have forms with submit buttons. The structure of the pages is like so[code]...
So the form is processed by acc_settings.php itself. When the submit button is pressed, the form info is sent to acc_settings but the browser loads up acc_settings.php
What I want is that the form should remain the way it is but the response should be displayed in the same div in main.php and acc_settings.php should not be opened by the browser.

I'm trying to read a file (will be a firmware update) into a byte array or binary stream or stream of some sort, and then POST it to my server. Any suggestions on opening and reading files from within js? Note, the server is a development server and will not run PHP or CGI scripts for example. I just need to be able to open a file from within a js function.
Also, no ActiveX objects, this needs to be Cross Platform.

im sure this will be pretty simple, at the moment i have some code which sends text from a textarea to a php file, the php file then stores the data into a database.the javascript post is as follows:
var text = document.getElementById(area).value;
http.open('post', 'autosave.php?text='+text);
there is a little bit more to this(just a handle response).My issue is that when the data is passed through javascript newlines and breaks disappear, so when i call the saved data it is presented as one long string with no formatting.i tried the nl2br() function and htmlspecialchars() function in the php file that the javascript passes the data to, this made no difference. I then tried to replace /n with <br /> in the javascript before passing the text variable again this made no differnce.

On a page, I have a javascript json output that is generated through PHP. So, for instance, it would look like this:
Code:
var upny_iniresults = {
// "q_id" : "65977",
// "q_txt" : "What is your favorite genre of Music?",
"q_cdata" : [
And then PHP code that generates the JSON. I loop through a question, scan for the results (survey site) and display it as json data. Works perfectly. Basically, the JSON is important because I have existing functions that work with that data (display survey results of that question/etc)Here's the question.How can I generate the same Json output, so it can be read by my other jquery functions (Created by a previous developer, I am a PHP guy) by using Jquery POST as well as a query string. The idea is something like:
Code:
$.post("create_json_results_for_this_question.php", $("#firstform").serialize());
# Firstform is the name of the form that is submitted.
So, would a jquery POST allow the JSON to load in my browser (which I will activate during a click function) just as my PHP json output works or is there another way? I just want to simulate the same effect, but be able to USE the jquery querystring that I have, which is:
$("#firstform").serialize());
because this lets me return survey results of a previously submitted question.My last q. was too convoluted and I realized my dilemma is just the json output.

I was guessing if it was possible, using jQuery, to have a link that, when clicked, opens the relative url and sends to it a post request. I'm trying to do this with the $.post function, but i found the problem that the request is sent, but the page isn't opened.
This is my code:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script>
[Code]....

I'm opening a new window with window.open() In the new window a file is loaded with the following post data function:
function ajaxPost(url,data){
$.post(url,data,
function(data){
alert(data)
[Code]....
If I call this function form within the new window everything is fine
- If I call it from the opener window the callback function is broken
- only in safari - ff works fine.

I'm running a bat file that runs a php script, that backs up my db.
Problem is that I'm limited by the functions I can use as I'm on a winXP box and dont want to compromise security.
The function I'm left with means I should run the script from a browser as it echoes out the results. At this point I'm not opening a browser so it is creating a few problems.
To get around this I thought I might be able to use js. But, I've been testing with a script I hacked (and I mean hacked, its probably a mess).
4 problems:
1. its trying to download a file
2. still has a pop-up asking if its ok to close window
3. its not displaying the php file
4. even if I click the 'go back' link it still asks if it should close.
I will enclose the php script I'm running from bat file in the hopes some-one will kindly put it all together for me For testing I've just been running (trying to include, not download, as I'm getting now) a small php script that says 'hello world' Code:

The link will be ad generated by Javascript code.Here is a bit more detail about my situation. I am creating a web-based mobile app. In other words, the native app acts just like a set of frames that load web pages. One of the frames loads an ad. The ad is invoked via javascript provided by various mobile ad networks.On the iPhone, we are noticing the ad loads within the ad frame inside the app, instead of spawning a new browser window. We would like to resolve this w/ javascript code that forces all links (specifically links generated via javascript) to open in a new browser window.

I need to know how to create a pop up window that opens behind a browser window. I don’t want to bother my visitors with a pop up window every time they visit my site and I don’t want to use cookies to prevent my site from popping up a window when a surfer visit my site a second time or more; some visitors may need to read my offer more than once before they subscribe to my newsletter.
The answer seems to be a pop up window that opens behind all other browser; this way the pop up window will not interfere with their visit to my site.
Does anyone know the codes for such a pop up window?

Is there any jquery script that would detect a browser. What I exactly mean is when a visitor opens a website, the script detects the browser and if it's IE6-7, the message to upgrade/change the browser is displayed. It'd be nice if the rest of the screen got blurred, as it is in some jquery photo galleries.
