View 6 RepliesI would like to get the id of a html check box when the client clicks it. I want to do this on the client side so i need to use java script. I want to be able to do this in both fire fox and ie window.event.srcElement works great for ie but not for firefox do not tell me to use Event.target for firefox because that does not work. At least it is not working for me anyway.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have put the following code into a sharepoint aspx page. So that when I change the value in a drop down box it runs a function (in this case it displays "Works").
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function getField(fieldType,fieldTitle) {
var docTags = document.getElementsByTagName(fieldType);
for (var i=0; i < docTags.length; i++) {
if (docTags[i].title == fieldTitle) {
return docTags[i]

function TestFunctionName() {
alert("Works");
}
getField('Select','DropDownBoxName').onchange = function() {TestFunctionName()};
</script>
What I'd like to be able to do as well is when a check box is changed or clicked on the same thing happens. I dont seem to be able to achieve it though. I've change the line...
getField('Select','DropDownBoxName').onchange = function() {TestFunctionName()};
to...
getField('Input','CheckBoxName').onchange = function() {TestFunctionName()};
and
getField('Input','CheckBoxName').onclick = function() {TestFunctionName()};
I very new to JavaScript and I need to validate a text field after a checkbox has been clicked. This is part of a larger form validation. I am looking for the simplest and easy solution to this issue. I have seen a couple of other examples that are far too complicated for the my needs. The form is asking a user to identify a referral source. If the referral source is a website, it wants the user to provide a URL. To clarify, all it needs to do is verify that if the website checkbox is clicked then there is text in the corresponding textbox. Here's what i'am been trying to make work

I have a form, what I want to happen is that a user clicks a checkbox and a list appears or is enabled so that the user can then select a option. Also when the checkbox is unchecked again, I want the list to disapear or become unabled and it's value set back to whatever was the default.
After a bit of looking around I thought I has done it, but no luck. Can anyone let me know whats going on here? Code:
I have an <input type="checkbox"> whose immediate parent is an <a> tag. The <a> is significantly larger than the <input>.
I want the checkbox to toggle on/offwhether the <a> is clicked or the checkbox itself. I also wantto store the value of the checkbox after it changes.
This sounds simple butI'm having trouble with the event bubbling (as in, I don't understand it).
Here is my current code.

I have a lot of information on my site that is in multiple categories. I have a list of categories, each with its own checkbox. By default, all the information is displayed (therefore all the checkbox's are checked by default).When someone unchecks the box I want to hide the divs with that class, and when someone rechecks the box, they should reappear. Here is my code so far. It is hiding the div's fine, but they are not reappearing when user tics the checkbox again.
<script type="text/javascript">
function toggledisplay(category){
if(document.getElementById(category).checked){

I'm using the following code for a checkbox that when clicked, either
checks or unchecks a group of checkboxes on a form. The code works
fine, except when there is only one checkbox in the group in which case
the check all checkbox doesn't work at all.
The code working with three checkboxes in a group is as follows, but
remove two of the three and you will see the code stops working:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function checkAll( control, cbGroupName )
{
var cbGroup = control.form.elements[cbGroupName], i = 0, cb;
while( cb = cbGroup[i++] )
{
cb.checked = control.checked;
}}
</script>
<form>
Check all
<input type="checkbox" this,'select[]' );" >

<input type="checkbox" name="select[]" value="234">
<input type="checkbox" name="select[]" value="235">

I'm pulling some records out of a database and placing a check
box next to each record that the user can check and use the delete button to delete the record.
I'm looking for some help to create a javascript function that I can fire
off when the user clicks on delete to check if a any records are checked
before submiting the deletion. if no check boxes are checked, I want to alertthe user to make a selection.
I'm thinking about having a loop in this function to loop through the
checkboxes and figuer out if at least 1 box is checked. Code:
I have a page that displays records returned from a database and places a check box
next to each record that the end user can check if they want to delete a record.
The function below checks to make sure that at least 1 checkbox was checked before allowing the delete to be processed.
this function works just fine when I have more than 1 recored returned, but if I only have 1 record displayed on the page and check it and hit the delete button, I get this error
"Checked" is null or not an object
is there a way to modify the function to fix this problem.
function isCheckBoxChecked(boxgrp)
// This function is used to check if any check boxes
// are checked before processing
{
var i = boxgrp.length;
do
if (boxgrp[--i].checked)
return true
while (i);
alert('Select an Item to Delete');
return false
}
When a checkbox is checked, I would like a group of checkboxes on a page to be automatically checked.
I was thinking of going about it like this:
- value of top checkbox = check1
- values of all checkboxes that should be automatically checked (when top checkbox is checked)= check1_1, check1_2, check1_3 etc
- on the onclick event of the top checkbox, a piece of javascript would be executed that would iterate through all the checkboxes.
x = 1;
while (x < 10)
{
check1_(value of x).checked = true;
x++;
}
How could i go about doing the above in javascript?
I have several checkboxes in a switch statement like the one below:
How can I use a continue button to determine which checkbox was clicked and redirect me to the correct page?
There are a couple of things I'm having issues with and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction:1) When you click the check boxes, the image area is selected in red. I'd like to make it so when you click on mild=yellow, moderate=orange, severe=red. But as the colour is specified in default_options. How do I specify the colour for each check box separately?2) I'd like to move the text and check boxes to the top left of the image (I can get the image to float right, but can't seem to move the text (as an asp:panel) to the top left. It is still at the bottom, even after playing with the height etc.
