Validating Radio Button Groups?
Mar 19, 2011I have a form that has multiple radio button groups and i want it to validate so that if any button is selected in one group you cannot make a selection in the other groups.

View 1 RepliesI have a situation where within my form I establish two different sets of radio button groups. The real world example field group names are "Mens" and "Womens".
Everything works fine with my form until the user submits the form but then selects their browsers "back" button. When they are returned back to their product page from their cart their previous selection remains active. If the user then selects an option from the second set of radio buttons their submission contains both selections which I do not want.
I can clear all of the radio button states with the following function just after the form is submitted:
Code JavaScript:
$(".cart input:radio").click(function(){
$(this).parent().submit();
this.checked = false;
});
But I think it would be much more graceful to inject some logic; e.g. if the clicked buttons group name is "Mens" make sure clear the state of any selected button in the "Womens" group. But I guess for me this is easier said than done.
If it does make more sense would I define the condition in my click function? (here is me hacking away at this logic - I realize my sytax is probably messed up)
Code JavaScript:
$(".cart input:radio").click(function(){
if(this.checked[name@Mens]){
$(radio[name@Womens]).checked = false;

I would like to have one questionare it consists of 5 questions and has got 5 options as an answer.Conditions are[B]1.All questions must be answered.2. If any question is not answered on submit i have to get error message "U have not answered All the questions."3. Kindly answer the question numbers 2,5 ( If question no 2 and questions no 5 is not answered.)[/B]For that i have created radio buttons group and wrote validation code.But its validating only one question not to rest of others questions.If some one misses any questions it is submitting answer

The application I'm helping develop is about 10 pages long and allows users to move back and forth, updating previous selections. Certain pages use Javascript to check current selections and show/hide divs based on those selections. Most of these fields are radio buttons and use simple onClick calls. However, one of these requires that 2 fields be checked for a specific value and if they are both true, display a div.
One problem though... for other reasons these form field names all begin with either a "r^" or a "t^" signifying it as either a text field or radio button. I can get the check to work fine without the "r^" but with it I'm lost. The carrot seems to be causing problems for me and I've tried many different combinations of things to get it to work. Code:
I am a newbie to jQuery and still learning the ropes. I would greatly appreciate your help in resolving the following issue: I am using jquery.validate.js plugin to validate a form.
The form has two groups of radio buttons with names ( g1 and g2 ). It also has other elements like textboxes and select boxes.

I have a form that makes visible a text field when a specific radio button is checked. That works. Then I validate to see if a radio button is checked before I let the form be submitted. That works.
BUT - I cannot seem to get it to validate the form field that is made visible to see if it has content or at least the proper content when the form is submitted. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong please?
I can give more info on what kind of validation I want done if needed, but I think my code speaks for itself Code:
for (i=0; i<document.form1.radiogroup.length; i++) {
var myRadio = document.form1.radiogroup[i];
}
but this does not:
for (i in document.form1.radiogroup) {
var myRadio = document.form1.radiogroup[i];
}
I'm sure this is down to a simple lack of understanding on my part. I have
hunted round all the w3c recommendations for DOM and HTML and the ECMAScript
bindings, but I can't find anything that properly explains the programming
model for radio groups. Have I missed something?
I am trying to validate my radio groups. I have a page which has about 30 questions. I have created a radio group for each questions. All questions are in a form. I just want to validate the radio buttons/groups to make sure all questions are answered when the submit button is pressed. I dont care which one is selected.
View 5 Replies View RelatedToday I have a page of many groups of radio buttons. As you will see in the code, I have 6 sets of 2-button groups (OK/notOK). I need to loop through the entire page of buttons, find the ones that are checked 'not ok', then create a report that lists the Name properties of all the 'Not OK' checked buttons.
The only common denominator I can see is the value="notOK', but I can't seem to get the loop to look for that property. Here is the code:

I am a PHP programmer and new to Javascript and jQuery and I have tried about 20 examples/tutorials and cannot seem to get even close to what I want.I have a form (PHP/MySQL) with a list of subjects I got from my database, and then create a set of radio buttons from that list. And based on what radio button they select, I need to pass that variable to a div (at least that's what I want to use) and then show a list of videos that match the radio buttons value. I don't care if its a get or post or other.I tried to use GET or POST so I can use that value for my PHP/MySQL lists.I am open to any suggestions/tutorials, etc.

The problem I'm having is that if a radio button is checked and one clicks on it again then the onclick event is triggered.
Is there any way to prevent the onclick event from triggering if the radio button is already checked?

I am trying to produce a web form to allow wedding guests to RSVP. The form allows them to enter a name and select from a radio button whether they will be attending or not. If they select the "yes" radio button then a further pair of radio buttons are displayed for their meal preference.
They can then click a submit button or they can click another button to add another line for another guest which operates in exactly the same way. I've almost got this working, but it seems that the checkbox change handler is lost for the current guest when a new guest is added and the checkbox value is reset. I've got a feeling I'm doing something stupid but can't for the life of me figure out what.
