I have a function which can be called with an unlimited number of
arguments.
I want to call another function with exactly the same arguments. I know
I can get the arguments in the arguments object, and as such also in an
array, but how do you pass the elements of an array to another function
as parameters?
It is kind of difficult to explain what I am trying to do here, I will provide the form here to give a better idea.
<ul>
<li>Select the type of your starting point of interest:<br/>
<div id="start_menu"><form action="test_getrss.php" name="form1" method="post">
<span><input type="radio" value="Apartment" name="start"
[Code]....
I get values for start_time, end_time and semester, but not the last two values. I noticed that the first two forms here are dynamically generated from Ajax.
How can I pass the values of these two selected menus to the third form, to process.php so the values can be retrieved?
is this correct
var mid = math.floor((0 + array.length)/2)
from here you could use array.slice to divide the array into two equal sized arrays?
I'm calling `setInterval(myfunc, 100);`.
That function receives one parameter which seems to be -3, 0, 3, 6 or 9.
This isn't a problem, but I'm wondering what it is. Does someone know?

Here is a small snip-it that I'm using to colour lines of a table as a user rolls over them.

var rows = document.getElementsByTagName("tr");

Alright, am I missing something?
I create a 2D array like so:
var blah = [];
blah[0] = ['one', 'two', 'three'];
blah[1] = ['four', 'five', 'six'];
Then I *attempt* to create an independent copy based on all of the pages I have read that
said it was as so:
var copy_of_blah = blah.slice(); // does not create independent copy
var copy_of_blah = blah.slice(0); // nor does this
I tested it by immediately changing either:
blah[0][0] = '' // "one" is now ''
*or*
copy_of_blah[0][0] = '' // "one", is again, ''
And of course both reflect changes upon the other.
Is it possible to create an independent copy of an array without having to write a
function that dumps the contents into a new array?
I know in different languages (VB.Net,C++,C#) how to pass an argument to function in this code:
<html>
<head>
<script language="Javascript">
<!-- hide
function openNewWindow() {
popupWin = window.open('[URL]',
'open_window',
'menubar, toolbar, location, directories, status, scrollbars, resizable, dependent, width=640, height=480, left=0, top=0')
} done hiding -->
</script></head><body>
<a href="javascript:openNewWindow();">return to front page</a>
</body></html>
I need to add several links in my page, so I need to pass indexes from links to main function, so I can open images in specific folder with indexes filenames. For example in vb
Subname("text_to_pass_to_SubName")
Public Sub SubName(ByVal function_text as string)
End Sub
I'm use prototype quite a lot for ajax calls, but have always used inline onclicks. I'm trying to be less obtrusive by creating event handlers/listeners.I used to do this with the aid of pHp to place arguments into the function (usually via 'while loop'):
<li><a href="#" onclick="dofunction(arg1,arg2);">item 1</a></li>
<li><a href="#" onclick="dofunction(arg1,arg2);">item 2</a></li>
<li><a href="#" onclick="dofunction(arg1,arg2);">item 3</a></li>

I use addEventListener and I cannot (or at least don't know how) pass arguments to the function.
Let's say we have a function:
function warning(arg1, arg2) {alert('Argument 1: ' + arg1 + ', Argument2: ' + arg2 + '.');}
It's possible to have:
onclick="warning('my argument 1', 'my argument 1');" as an html attribut.
But I think it's not posible to do it like this (still the same function):
el.addEventListener("click", warning('my argument 1', 'my argument 1'), false);
So how can I pass arguments to the function?
I would like to display few calendar fields on the same page with different days disabled. I guess that the easiest way to do that would be to let thenoWeekendsOrHolidaysfunction take care of it but in order to do that I need to pass some values to it. How can I do that?
$('.datepicker:not(.ui-datepicker)').live('click',function(){
alert(this.name);
//var disabledDays = '12-15-2011';
$(this).datepicker({

I haven't come across an exampe that would enable me to pass data to my event handler.For example, if I click a button I want it to pass the value of an adjacent text input to my handler.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThis example is much simplified as the original script.VBScript is making a value, passes this to Javascript, which puts that value into a div tag.Now, as you see in the VBScript, the value contains a call to a javascript function. It shows perfectly in HTML, but the call can't be made when clicking the link.Is it possible in VBscript to write dynamic hardcoded javascipt function that pass arguments?
Code:
<script type="text/vbscript">

Why is the callwhy is the slice method only a method of an Array instance? The reason why I ask is because if you want to use it for the arguments property of function object, or a string, or an object, or a number instance, you are forced to use Array .prototype slice.call(). And by doing that, you can pass in any type of object instance (Array, Number, String, Object) into it. So why not just default it as a method of all object instances built into the language?In other words, instead of doing this:
function Core(){
var obj = {a : 'a', b : 'b'};
var num = 1;[code]....
//right now none of the above would work but it's more convenient than using the call alternative.
}
Core('dom','event','ajax');
Why did the designers of the javascript scripting language make this decision?
I want to pass an array of unknown length to a function, in the way that every element of the array is received as an argument:
I could do:
But the problem is I don't know the lenght of the array in advance.
I am a newbie and am writing a function. I want the function to refer to an arrays elements to get the biggest, but I dont know how to do this.
Here is the code:
what I am trying to do, is get the array elements to be called and give me an answer. Will I need to add the array to the function? It is further down the code after the function at the moment. Or will I need to add the array elements to the function?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is the first question I couldn't find answered by Google! No doubt the answer is out there, but...
So I have a function that is being passed an array of nodes: some of them plain vanilla DOM nodes, (say, those created by document.createElement), others are jQuery nodes (say $("<div></div>").
What's the best way to determine if a node is of each type? I can obviously look at the node contents, but I wondered if there was a "best practices" here?
I have been working on this issue for a couple of days. I have image names stored in my mysq. database. I need to somehow get those image names from the mysql database to a jquery array.Here is what I have so far.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow would i build a multidimensional array? would it be: PHP Code:
var rinksAndPriceArray = new Array();
rinksAndPriceArray[0] = new Array();
rinksAndPriceArray[1] = new Array();
i've figured that out so far.
now, i want to be able to access a part of one of the arrays based on a variable that is passed into the function
the variable i'll send in will be the first part of the array ex: rinksAndPriceArray[0][0] and i'll want to return the rinksAndPriceArray[0][1] value.
I'm scripting Adobe InDesign via JS. (don't be frightened this post is purely about JS problem)
I've created custom 'Classes' for custom InDesign objects.They all inherit common methods from generic 'Item' class. Now the problem is that most of these methods need acces to the arguments of the child's constructor.

I am writing a Javascript to sort and write out some stuff. PHP is not an option so I need to get this script working.
The problem arises when I want to make a link to the next page. (i.e. Like the link in google for the next 10 results)
I have <a href=# onclick=FUNCTION(VALUES)> written dynamically by the script.
It is written onto the document correctly, but the problem is, when the link is clicked, some seemingly random values are passed to the function.
I also have an invalid character error that arises when I pass the "whereVARquoted" variable into my function (code 2) which disappears when the variable is removed (code 1).
My code is below:
Code 1:
<script>
Code 2:

I have 10 web links on my index but at the top my page is there one <input type="text" name="myurls"> So I want to create an effect like the following:
<a href="http://www.yahoo.com">Yahoo!</a> <a href="#">click add</a>
When some user press to the "click add" link the url link http://www.yahoo.com is passed on <input type="text" name="myurls"> and if the same user click on other link the present link disappears and the new is writing.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get the value of an input box after a delete key has been pressed at a certain position. For example: If I have: afghanistan and my caret is at position 4 and I push delete I will be left with: afghnistan I'm able to determine the caret position and detect the delete key and then I am trying to use slice to return the new value of the string like: Code: value.slice(caretPosition,caretPosition+1) This returns the value of what was sliced out of the string - how can I modify the parameters of slice to return everything BUT the removed part?
