Trying to learn the basics... Here is a script for three toggle buttons that each when clicked open their corresponding divs. Fine. Now how does one go about automatically closing an open div when clicking on a new 'toggler' that opens it's div? I see other posts about this very question, but I'm just not grasping the logic.
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
$("#toggle1").click(function () {
$("#toggle1div").toggle("drop", {direction:"right"}, 500);
});
$("#toggle2").click(function () {

I'm trying to get a mootools plugin to work with a slide in/slide out javascript using multiple divs. Here's the page: [url] The mootools code (Noobslide) slides a main image on the right when you click thumbnails on the left, which are wrapped in a thumb mask using CSS. The first row of thumbnails works perfectly, but when it's passed on to the next div the mask isn't passed on and the effect breaks down.
Here's the html:
The javascript:

I am fairly new with jQuery and am trying to figure something out. I am trying to update multiple SPAN elements on my page using the $.get function. So far this is the code I have...
I can loop through and verify it is catching all of them
This outputs the data I am expecting from the GET
How can I set the data returned to the innerHTML of the current span element in the loop?
I have tried $(this).innerHTML and this.innerHTML, but neither worked

My goal: I'm trying to to create a configuration dialog and persist it so the user can edit it later. Since the configuration is long and has Datepickers, Sliders, different types of inputs and such, I'm loading a new page for the configuration and using ID to get values from them. For example, the page has a datepicker text input "startDate" and a datepicker for it.My problem:1) I load theconfigurationpage into a div of home page make a dialog out of it. jQeury moves that div to it's own div that it created in the body of home page. So when I add multiple dialogs, datepicker doesn't work anymore since there are two "#starDate" input fields in the page now. I also plenty of other cases where I use the ID directly to do other tasks. Is there a way for me to go forward with this.

I've seen websites that had large flash ads that covered content on pages that, after they had run, resized or disappeared.
We would like to use the technology behind that (presumably JavaScript) to show and hide an intro flash on a home page. We would like to have a "close" link on the flash also.
I have searched Google and here but haven't found any good resources and many of the sites I have seen using the technology are no longer using them. I just need a little assistance on the JavaScript part of the puzzle.
We want the flash to start over the copy on the page and then roll out softly when it's done playing, revealing the content below. Code:

I am using jquery with the cookie plugin and I have multiple image buttons that can hide/show multiple elements. My question is how can I add a cookie to this code to remember whether each separate element is opened or closed?
The code,
$(document).ready(function() {
// choose text for the show/hide link - can contain HTML (e.g. an image)
var showText='<div class="expanddown"></div>';
var hideText='<div class="expandup"></div>';
// initialise the visibility check
var is_visible = false;
// append show/hide links to the element directly preceding the element with a class of "toggle"
$('.toggle').prev().append('<a href="#" class="togglelink">'+hideText+'</a>');
// capture clicks on the toggle links
$('a.togglelink').click(function() {
// switch visibility
is_visible = !is_visible;
// change the link depending on whether the element is shown or hidden
$(this).html( (!is_visible) ? hideText : showText);
// toggle the display - uncomment the next line for a basic "accordion" style
//$('.toggle').hide();$('a.toggleLink').html(showText);
$(this).parent().next('.toggle').slideToggle('fast');
// return false so any link destination is not followed
return false;
});
});
HTML,
<a class="togglelink" href="#"></a>
<div class="toggle">
Content

I am trying to build a 2-column table with a slidedown effect in each cell:
[url]
Thought I would be clever and copy the first cell into the others and change the content. If you click on 'continue,' you will see the issue I am trying to solve.
Is the cause a float issue? Div? Something else?

I've been using the jQuery Cycle Plugin now for a variety of clients and feel pretty comfortable with implementing it and how it works. I rarely have any difficulties and it always seems to shave time off my projects. Its really is an awesome plugin that I am extremely grateful for. That being said I'm having a little difficulty with a more involved implementation on a personal project. [URL]. The plugin is working correctly - but not ideally.
Each image and title you see is a callout for a blog post. The posts are automatically added by calling the WordPress theme's "loop" - a PHP function loading the information and images from the last several posts written - then it displays each post's featured images, titles, and other info inside divs labeled "post". Afterward, the jQuery cycle plugin uses all the "post" div's to create a great user-interactive recent blog-post slider - using (my favorite) vertScroll effects.
What I'm looking for is a way to display 2-3 posts at a time instead of just 1. I've seen people have 2-3 images displaying per scroll by adding two-three images into a div - and then having that div (with more divs) cycle. What prevents me from doing something like that here is the fact that the list of blog-posts is dynamically populated by PHP. There isn't a way (I know of) to insert a </div> after 2-3 posts and then open a new <div> for the next 2-3 so that the cycle plugin knows where to stop the scroll content.

I have the code for a javascript slider in my header. It is supposed to slide a menu out to the LEFT of the facebook icon at the top of my page. Unfortunately....this is not the case. Here are the 2 issues happening. I think they are both related to the javascript, but I do not know enough about it to fix it. [URL]
The attached pic shows what the alignment of the icons, is supposed to look like (my nav menu is pushed down a few pixels, as well). Here is what the sliding menu is supposed to do (top right menu in the white part of the page) [URL]

I think right now jQuery slideDown() will show the content bit by bit (line by line) of that DIV, showing top content first, and then little by little, the content below it...
Is there a way to actually slide the *content* down as well? In order words, showing the bottom of the DIV, and then it will move down, a little by little, and then show more of the content above it.

I'm encountering an AJAX problem when I try to execute multiple AJAX requests at the same time. What I want to do is delete a message and display the status (succes or failure) of that in div1, and refresh the messages on the page in div2. This needs (for as far as my knowledge reaches) two AJAX actions from which I both need the responseText.
The problem:
What happens when I execute my script is that the second action (refresh a part of the page) happens before the deletion is executed. The result of this is that when the deletion has been executed, the page is already updated, and the deleted message is still there.
The script
What I now have is:
function doAjax(url, element_id, img_url){
var ajaxObject = createAjaxObject();
ajaxObject.open('GET', url, true);
ajaxObject.onreadystatechange = function(){
if(ajaxObject.readyState==4 && ajaxObject.status==200){
document.getElementById(element_id).innerHTML = ajaxObject.responseText;
delete ajaxObject; .....

I know the atomic way to set style properties of a DOM element like
Is there any way to set multiple properties in the same time? I'd like to spare some cpu time...
I assume if I use framework like JQuery to set more style props at once that call will be interpreted to the atomic way I described above...
Am I right with this guess?
