Sending An Image Outside An Iframe?

Sep 18, 2011

I posted this in a CSS forum, and was instructed that this may take some elaborate javascript to accomplish.

I have a website that a lot of people iframe, and I want to let them still be able to iframe my site (no framebreaker used), but I would like to show an image on the original page that is iframing my page. Is there a way I can make an image show on the page that is iframing my site, not over my iframe?

Example, a sites homepage (that I have no control over) has part of my page in a 300x300 iframe. Can I make an image that shows outside of the 300x300 area of the site that my page is framed in?

Sending Variable To Page From IFrame?

Jul 24, 2011

I'm trying to make a cross domain iframe and want the iframe to dynamic resize the height. I have read that this is not possible, but if I own both domains I thought that I in my cross domian could make an variable which tells the height of the page and then send it via the iFrame to my page. My crossdomain page has a javasacript like this:

Code JavaScript:
var pageHeight = document.getElementById("container").clientHeight;

And my page would get the page like this:

Code HTML4Strict:
<iframe src="mypage.com" width="100%" height="The height from my crossdomain" frameborder="0" scrolling="no">

Sending Out Of Iframe And Catching In Parent?

Apr 1, 2009

I have a page contained in an iframe. The page contained in the iframe shows videos all the time.Each video has an id that changes when a new video is played.I need to be able to catch this changing id in the page that has the iframe (the parent page) and that is hosted in a different server from the contained page.The only languages that can be used in the contained page are javascript, ajax and jquery
In the parent page you can use these languages + php.

I'm not posting the contained page code just because, believe me, it's humongous,full of variables and functions from other files and modules.The only thing needed there is a variable, myid, that stores the new id when a new video is played.Then I have to post, send, throw ... etc. myid and after that catch it in the parent page, remembering that myid's value changes when a new video is played and that.I have to get that new value at all times.I have to get the value of the playing video id to do things like changing the background of the page depending on the video played or showing a webpage depending on the video played ... and so on.

Sending Data To Php W/ AJAX

Nov 16, 2006

I'm having a weird problem, not sure if I'm overlooking something or leaving something out. I'm trying to send values of a form to through AJAX to a php script then return a value. It works fine, except the author field is always blank. I've created a simplified version and it still works weird.

This is the javascript used to get the values and send them, when they come back the alert message shows Name as blank. I've looked in the PHP file to see if I made a mistake but I don't see anything.

function postComment() {
var author = document.getElementById("author").value;
var email = document.getElementById("email").value;
var comment = document.getElementById("comment").value;
var url = "includes/testComment.php";
request.open("POST", url, true);
request.onreadystatechange = showResult;
request.setRequestHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
request.send("author="+escape(author)+"&email="+escape(email)+"&comment="+escape(comment));}

function showResult() {
if(request.readyState == 4) {
var message = request.responseText;
alert(message);
}
}

HTML Code:
<form>Name:<br />
<input type="text" id="author" name="poster" size="25" /><br />
Email:<br />
<input type="text" id="email" name="email" size="25" /><br />
Comment:<br />
<textarea cols="36" rows="7" id="comment" name="comment"></textarea>&nbsp;
<input type="button" onclick="postComment();" name="submit" value="Comment" /></form>

PHP Code:

$author = trim($_REQUEST['author']);
$email = trim($_REQUEST['email']);
$comment = trim($_REQUEST['comment']);
$response = "Name = ".$author." email = ".$email." comment = ".$comment;
echo $response;

Xmlttp Not Sending All EncodeURIComponent Data

Jul 23, 2005

I'm trying to send data to my server using xmlhttp POST. The data being
sent is actually an HTML page that is built with javascript in the
browser. The HTML code contains a small javascript function in the
<HEAD> section. I applied encodeURIComponent to the data prior to
sending it but anything between the <script> </script> tags does not
get sent. The tramsmitted data is cought by a Perl script on the
server, it handles the input as normal FORM data and writes the html
data sent to a file (with the javascript function missing). Maybe I
need to do something different related to encoding the chars for an
HTML comment (?) ...

Ajax :: Sending Data With XML HTTP

May 12, 2009

I am doing xmlhttp ajax stuff. I am using a script called "SEXYALERTBOX". I am using it to allow the user to input a password. The textbox is called BoxPromptInput. I do not think its inside a <form> tag.

Here is the code:
function askForPass() {
Sexy.prompt('Please type the password in order to see the pictures/videos','' ,{ onComplete:
function(returnvalue) {
if(returnvalue) {

var xmlhttp = false;
var pageResponse = null;
try{xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");}
catch (error){try {xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");} catch (error) {xmlhttp = false;}} .....

Any way to pass the value since I am sure the request.form would not work in this case since its not in a form.

Sending Data Inside .js File?

Sep 14, 2010

I have several functions in a .js file that collect various types of information from the visitor, let's just say they are strings, and want to send that information to my database. I have no problem putting the information in my database once I get everything into PHP (I'm relatively new to JS).

Am I able to make a form in the .js file and automatically submit it once all the functions finish? I also need the page not to refresh when sending this information so I'm assuming some AJAX will need to be involved. I was able to send a basic form using some jQuery I found and have the page not refresh but can't figure out how to do the same in a .js file.

<script type="text/javascript">
// wait for the DOM to be loaded
$(document).ready(function() {
// bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function
$('#myForm').ajaxForm(function() {
});
});
</script>

Keeping An Iframe From Loading Outside Its Source

Aug 6, 2003

I need some code that prevents the contents of an iframe from loading outside their source. Namely, the page has its main text content in an iframe so it can be scrolled through while keeping fixed size layouts. That iframe points to a file, content.html, that I want to keep the user from loading directly in the browser. I'd like it so, if they do go to content.html directly, it will just boot them back to the main index.

Put IFRAME Source Code Into Textarea

Jun 27, 2006

I would you grab the source code from an IFRAME and display it in a textarea?

I'm trying to create a sort of preview page that both shows a rendered page, then shows the source code next to it.

[edit]: I'm thinking that using OnLoad JS event in the HTML body tag would allow this to work. The page loads, the OnLoad event calls a JS function that pulls the innerHTML from the IFRAME and inserts it into the textarea.

Ajax :: Sending Form Data With POST

I have a problem with sending data from a form to a php script with AJAX. To test if it works, I try to send data from the form, print it in the php with "echo", and then put it back in the initial html file.

My Javascript code is:

The function stateChanged, basically says:

The problem is that the response is empty, but I don't know why. I have checked the input data and the postData variable says "firstName="+input (e.g. "firstName=Robert"), so that's not the error.

IFRAME Source Swap - On Page Refresh

Nov 2, 2010

I am working on a module where I have 2 div tags which I wanted to swap on page refresh. i.e., when page loads it displays 1st div and upon refresh it loads 2nd div(and one more refresh wil load 1st and so on....). that works perfectly but the issue is I have an iframe inside both the divs which points to two different html files and its not swapping upon refresh. whatever iframe loads first remains there.

I thought its because of browser caching and the browser caches the iframe thats loaded 1st., so I tried adding meta tags on head like no-cache and expire=-1 but no luck.
