I have a normal web page that contains a link.
When the link is pressed a javascript popup window occurs asking the user for a choice.
The popup window then closes and I want also for the original page to be refreshed.
So how do I do the refreshing is my question.
I realise the reload command is relevant, but am unsure on how to tell the pop up window to refresh the original page.
i have a popup from the parent window which allwos the user to add in new location. when the lcoation has been added succesfully. then thewindow closes and the parent gets refreshed. In particular, just the location listbox gets updated with the new value. the location listbox i generated from the database using asp.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on this system, where an admin can manage articles and stuff. The editing, adding and deleting of articles is done from within a Javascript popup. When the new article is added, the admin can hit a "close this window"-link to return to the admin-page, which contains a list of all articles.
This works fine, however, when returning to the list-page, the new article hasn't been added to the list, because there was no page refresh. Is there any way to invoke a page refresh from within the editing-popup?
I use this code in a popup to refresh the parent browser. It works fine
as long as the user actually clicks on this link but does not work in
cases where the user closes the child popup through the Windows X
(close) button. Any way to accomodate this also?
I was curious if such a thing is possible, I've seen it done before, but not exactly sure how that would work. Would it have something to do with the window.close (); function?

I'm having a problem on a particular site I am working on.

The problem is that when I try to close the browser in IE on the main page I get an popup with an error which says: "An error has occured on the script on this page"
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
"Yes" or "No" (Buttons to Click)
I have to click the 'Yes' button about thirty times before the browser will finally close. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

I am trying to do a popup window, which will load when the page loads. Using the onLoad in the <Body> tag. However it doesn't seem to be working. Also when the popup loads there will be a form which the user selects an option and the form is sent to a email address with the answer chosen and then the popup closed. Code:

but not if it *is* open. Therefore, the script doesn't know whether to
simply refocus, or whether to popup a fresh window.
Are these the only solutions?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am very new at this - and have found code everywhere for pop ups and popunders, but I need both in the same place. So - I am on a main page with a link. If the user clicks the link they get a popup window (it is a specific url). When the user exits out of the popup, I want the popunder to go under the main window they were looking at (not the popup window)
If I am in my main window, I have an href link to click for the popup.html window. This works fine, and I tried to put the code into the popup.html to load the popunder upon exit. What a disaster. It loads on TOP of the main window because of course it is trying to popunder the popup.
Focus is never returned to the main window. Is there any one that has any ideas on how to do this? I have looked at it for days and cannot figure it out - but like I said, I am very, very new at javascript.
I have the need to create a popup after a delay. The problem I'm getting is that the parent page is refreshing automatically from the action of creating the popup. I don't want the parent page to refresh!

$delay is the delay before the popup opens, in microseconds (so 6000 would be 6 seconds).
What can I do to have the same delayed auto-popup functionality, but without it automatically refreshing the parent page where the above code resides?
As some background to what I'm achieving: The issue with not wanting the parent page to refresh is that each time it does, the login session gets extended. The popup itself (which I already have working ok) provides a 'continue working' function, or close and refresh the parent is nothing has been done after a short period.

I'm looking for nice solution to handle file downloads. The problem with classic link in <a href="file"> is that in case of missing file, the main browser window is reloaded with 404 error, but I'd like to present to user a popup message without reload of main browser window.

On my webpage, I dynamically create an iFrame when a button is pressed, then load a html page from within my own domain into the iframe, based on what html page is loaded into a variable. My question is, can I dynamically change the font family of the loaded html page from the javascript of the main page? My code to create the iframe is:

the variable "subTxt" has the url of the html page to be loaded (always on the same domain). The code: document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial"; was my attempt to dynamically change the font, but it didn't work. Also, it should be noted that there is no font family set in the html pages which would override this.

I'm designing a web page, Having a banner on top, then a search option following it.There is a menu item list below it on to the left.And the content of the links of those menu item should get loaded in the center of the page.And a footer having some copyright info.All these are in div tags. The problem is when i click on any menu item it should be loaded in the center div tag.Ive tried using Iframes but there is a scrollbar coming only in that area of center div tag.I don't wan't this to happen.Based on the size of the html page to be loaded the div tag size should increase, and so the whole page.Have tried using Ajax but not working.

That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date.
When I load a page into an existing page I think the div's are not nested properly therefore the javascript is not working correctly. What's happening is ALL the div's on the second page are showing. I have a popup window which has the search form in. What I want to do is for the popup window to close once the form is submitted, and to post the form data to a page on the main window.
Is anyone able to advise. As the main page is dynamic, it is not possible to give the page a name.
