Search Mysql Database In Popup And Select Variable To Pass To Main Form?

Aug 7, 2010

Basically the user would see a button on a form that would be something like "add contact"...then a window opens that shows a search window (want to implement something like [URL]) and it would show all the contacts available in the contacts table...then the user selects the contact to add (via a link).

I think i could get it this far, but how would i then pass that $row to the main form so that i can use the fields from that $row in the contacts table on my form?

Populating Order Form From Mysql Database

Oct 1, 2010

Am looking to find the easiest way to populate an order form that customers can email through to us.

I have created a database with 2 fields, id and name.

I would like to be able to have a form on my page with 3 fields, id name and qty.

I want to link the id and name fields on my form to my database so that when a customer starts to type a product id or description it will show a list of available matches. underneath which once clicked will populate the mssing field.

So for example is i have 2 products id 998 green apples and 999 red apples.

Typing in 999 in the id field of the form would populate the name field with red apples and typing red apples in the name field would populate the id field with 99.

if someone didn't know which apples they wanted they could type apples in the name field and underneath it would show both red and green which when clicked will populate both fields.

Sumbit A Form With A Link To Search A Database?

Dec 21, 2009

I know this is a combination of asp and javascirpt so bear with me. Can I use a hyperlink to submit a form that can look data up in a database? I am going to have a page that has a bunch of links that will link to other pages. However all the pages are in a database, and I need to look it up via another page to pull up the right page.

<form action="../forms/selectpage.asp" name="form1" method="post">
<td> <a href="java script:document.form1.submit();">page1 </a> </td>
</form>

The only way I can think of is to use a hidden text field to submit when the user sumbits and each link be it's own form, but that's a lot of extra code. If anyone is curious- the look up page is this

Set oRs=Server.CreateObject("adodb.recordset")
strSQL = "SELECT * FROM Pagetable WHERE Location = '" & selected & "' "
oRs.Open strSQL, connforms

Selected would be the data being transfered from the linked page.

Pass User Input From A Form To One Database Field Using Several Form Elements

May 4, 2009

I need to pass user input from a form to one database field. I'm relatively new to JS but the idea I had was to have several form elements and use JS to collect the users input and send all the values through a hidden element. What's happening is the variable names are being sent rather than the values. The code below is only passing to the next page. Limitations: I am editing an intranet site built by a 3rd party so a lot of the files we've been given are encrypted. I cannot change the method to post.

JQuery :: Php Form With Basic Popup Notification Message When Php Has Made A Successful MySQL Db Update?

Jun 12, 2010

I have very basic javascript skills, just started looking into jQuery and jQueryTools to enhance my websites. I have been coding PHP for about 1.5 years.I have a php form with which users can update their purchase order before making a final confirmation and payment.

Thought it would be nice if, instead of using php for redirecting to a success/fail message in a separate php file and redirecting again back to the form with a 3 second delay, I could get a jQuery script to pop up with a success/fail message, so avoiding all the clumsy php redirecting and page refreshing.I've searched for plugins, but they all act on event listeners attached to a submit button or other clickable html element.Ive searched the net for ages and can't find an easily understood explanation and complete example, where a jQuery pop up notification is displayed in response to a php script executing a db update.

Closing Search Box When Main Page Unloads?

Sep 12, 2011

I'm using the code below to create a pop-up search box that finds text strings on a contents page. The contents page contains a list of hyperlinks each of which opens a PDF document in the same window. The search box does exactly what it's intended to do, but the problem is this: if the user clicks on "Find next" or "Find previous" once the PDF document is open, an error occurs; the same error occurs if the user then navigates back to the contents page and clicks on "Find next" or "Find previous". I'm thinking the solution must be to get the search box to close as soon as the PDF document opens, but how do I achieve this?
