Pass Function To Php Variable For Form Submission?
Aug 8, 2010
I'm working with the following code:
parent window:
Code:
<html>
<head>[code]....
Currently, the Code will open the child window, show a search box, search for the database and display links, when you click on the link, the parent window will show the variable passed. My question is, how would i change this so that each of the variables displayed would have a php variable that i could submit with a form?
I was wondering if there was a way to dynamically read a field input and respond to it later in the form. My situation is this: I have a question that asks how many workers are employed at a business. Later in the form, the user is asked to add as many workers as they have (section with information on each worker) ..Is there a way I can have something echoed or document.write above the latter section saying "Please add (Number of workers listed above) sections for each worker employed"
I am trying to combine a php form submission with a javascript function.Basically my form includes an address and UK postcide and I need to get the longitude and latitude of this address using the google map api. I have a javascript function that performs this geocoding.My problem is that I need the following sequence of events to occur.
1. User completes form including mandatory address and postcode
2. User clicks on the "Submit" button
3. Javascript function is called to retrieve the longitude and latitude
4. If successfully retrieved the longitude and latitude, submit the form data including the retrieved longitude and latitude.
Here is my javascript geocode function
Code: function geoCode(location) { if (location != '') { localSearch.setSearchCompleteCallback(null,[code]...
Code:
<form name="myform" method="post" action="" onsubmit="return geoCode(document.getElementById('postcode').value);"> This is not working and it appears to just immediately submit the form without going into the following bit of the javascript function if (localSearch.results[0]) {
I have email, password and some other fields, and I'm using $.post to send data for Ajax submission.
The problem is that I don't want to submit a particular field. The serializeArray() returns all the fields in the form. So, I tried something like this to prevent the password field being serialized.
This works great but the ajax submission doen't work.
I'm trying to set up a simple "change your password" form. I've got an AJAX process that is checking the new password the user enters against their current password to make sure they're changing it. This function is firing via the password field's onBlur event handler.
I want to do some other form validation using the form's onSubmit handler (onSubmit="return validateForm();", and if all those conditions are met, the form submits.
Problem is, if focus is on that password field and the user attempts to click the submit button, the onBlur event fires, and after that, nothing happens. The flow seems to be interrupted - I get no further activity indicating the click happened. No onFocus for the submit button, no onClick for that button, no onSubmit events will fire, and the form does not submit.
How do I continue the process beyond that onBlur function if the user is trying to click the submit button?
If it is possible to pass a php variable through to a javascript function.
Example.
I have a bit more to the code but that is the bare essentials as an example. If i remove the $id and $name from the passTest() for onClick the function works properly. However if I leave them in the function doesn't seem to work at all.
I have these 2 functions... The first draws a graph, then second I am trying to use to generate the "layout.addDataset" line of code, which it does perfectly. However, I am unsure how to call the function generatedataset from within drawGraph, and pass the variable "mainstring" as it is not set as a variable. code...
I have a javascript will a) look for a certain value in a drop down box and b) depending on what value is selected open up a div that includes link that when moused over will pop up with an alert box contain the passed parameter. A couple problems with this, one is I am not as sharp on Javascript as I am on PHP, and two, when I manually place a value into the function parameter, if it's a number it works fine, but if its a string or word, it comes up with an undefined error. why the undefined error is coming up only on strings or words?
In the following code I am trying to pass the return value of the function "getrownum" to the PHP code...but the problem is, when i am trying to pass the return value of the forementioned function, i got no result. "please find my attempts highlighted below in red"code...
Let's say I have this function: function add(x, y) { var add = x + y;
[Code]...
So let's say the value of select_first is "1", and value of select_second is also "1". But when they are passed to the add function, the returned value is 11 and not 2. So what I understood is that it took the values as strings instead of integers. What should I do so that select_first and select_second are integers instead of string?
I have a bit of php that creates an entry on a page for each row in a table, some pages may have multiple entries, others just one.
eg.
<h2 class="title">{title}</h2> {summary} <p onclick="openBox({entry_id})">Click to read more ></p> <div id="{entry_id}" style="display:hidden;">{body}</div>
I would like to have just one function to open and close all individually, eg.
$(document).ready(function(){ function openBox(id){ if ($("#id:first").is(":hidden")) {
[Code].....
Well I know I'm doing something wrong as this is not working, and I don't know how better to explain I hope this is sufficient, I'm not worrried about the php/html bit as that is working fine.
Pass variable to jQuery function in another page? I have what I think is a simple question but I can't find an answer. I have two html pages - one.html, two html. [URL] one.html contains a jquery function that alerts the variable it is passed.
[Code]...
The problem is I want to call and pass the variable from another html page - two.html How can I call and pass a variable to the jQuery function in one.html from two.html ?
Might be a simple question, but I'm a Javascript and OOP newbie.
I have a form that I'm using Java & Ajax to dynamically validate while the user is typing (sort of, it actually executes the validate script after a 1 second pause in typing has passed). code...
I was wondering if anyone knew if you could usea javascript variable in an html form. I made a dateusing javascript (I need the 00/00/0000 format, and only in javascript could I get it).
<script LANGUAGE = "Javascript"> Variable for hours requested var sday = 8 var checkhour
[Code]....
This is the part of the form where I want to enter it into as the default value
After this point I have no clue what to do. If needed i can post more code as well.
Can I pass a javascript variable to another page without submit the form? I have page1 with the selection and some links. I would like the user to select it without submitting a form, but I can get it from another page when clicking on the link. So I would think about the onChange function may help, but don't know how.
How do I pass a PHP variable into a window.onload event function? I have a URL that I need to pass to the JavaScript file that has this function in it. The JavaScript file itself is being linked from the PHP file that will pass the variable and I've seen many examples of how this is done via embedded JavaScript, but none where someone is linking to an external JavaScript file. I suppose this is probably a trivial matter to most of you, but I've never done this before and could use some guidance!
How to: pass local variable from <head> JS function to <body> textarea
I have a JS function in the head that calculates a variable. the function is triggered by the vevent of a button click. when calculation is done, how is it sent back to the page and placed in a textarea or textbox?
If I do not have enough information provided, please tell me. I am VERY weak when it comes to Javascript.I am trying to pass the variable status using a form and it works in IE, but not in Firefox/Chrome.How it is called;
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html lang="EN" dir="ltr" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head>
[Code]...
In a few words it creates a button which when it is clicked it launches the add_text script. Add text script creates a text element for a form and puts a random value for the textbox. Textbox also takes a name which is of array type name="txt[]". Also form has the post method.
When I press e.g. 4 times the add text field button 4 text boxes are added. But when I click the submit button I get a result of 1 instead of 4 when the print count($txt) is executed. Copy paste the code to see the problem.
