Put The Words 'Degrees Converter' Onto Page (as A Link)
Mar 7, 2011
I've been reading my JS book, have done a 'Degrees Converter' which converts fahrenheit into centigrade. There is a prompt box which automatically loads when the website is loaded. I am pressuming this is because I have my script in the body.How do I get my script as a link? I wanted to put the words 'Degrees Converter' onto my page(as a link), so that when people click the link, it loads up the prompt box.

For example I have a link that I want to when I click on it, It writes some words after the link. I have written a code but it does not work as I want and it clears all the page and writes the words. I don't want to clear the page and write just words, I want to add words after the link.
Here is my code:
HTML Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function a() {document.writeln('aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa');}
</script>
<a name="aaa" href="javascript:void()" onclick="a()">Click on me!</a>

Recently in my IT class, we made a HTML page which would open a popup box, where the user could enter a key word. When the user pressed enter, the page would navigate to a specific page. The code we used was:
<script language = "JavaScript">
where = window.prompt ("Please tell me where you would like to go.");
switch (where){[code].....
implement this code on my workplaces server, and have the keywords link to other html documents within the server. However when I tested this, for some reason the links are not working.

There's a feature I want to implement, but don't really know how to code. The intention is to use jQuery to convert words with a certain class attribute into Wikipedia links.
An example to make things clearer:
PLAIN TEXT: There is a <span class="wiki">penguin</span> there.
EXPECTED RESULT: There is a <a href [url] there.
Hence the code would have to grab the string of words inside the tag and place them inside a href with the first part of the link already attached to it. Doesn't seem too complicated, but I wasn't able to do it.
I have been trying to use the code below (created by Patrick Haney and improved by enraged) as a basis, but no deal. This code subistitutes words for code, but it searches for specific words.
If anybody knows a script like that, modify the code below,

I have a forum with over 5000 topics (lots of content in each topic) and I have a wiki-website with over 4000 articles. Both share the same database and are similar in context.
Now, I was wondering if there is a JavaScript out there that can could scan my forum page and underline words on that page that are articles on the wiki. For instance, if I have an article in the wiki entitled "Heart", where ever "Heart" appears in the forum, it is underlined and linked to that exact article on the wiki.
This conceptual idea is very similar to In-Text advertisements, such as Kontera, but I can't seem to find the scripting they use.

I have extremely text intensive web pages. A search engine can find the page but then my users have to search for the word using Ctrl+F. Google can highlight the found terms on the page but google does not index every page on my sites.
I need a way to highlight found words on my web pages by using an input box at the top of the page. The user will type in a word to find and the script will highlight all the found words on a page.
Here is code that is supposed to work to find an individual word but not all words. The code does not work for me.

How can I truncate all words greater than 30 characters using a class name when the page loads?Been trying to do this for about 5 hours. Trying to conside the following:
* Truncate long words and churn anything above the minimum length with an ellipse.
* Only truncate words and not the whole sentence or paragraph.
* Should truncate text that are inside HTML tags and not truncate the tags themselves.
* When you hover over the ellipse, it will show you the complete word.
* The long words are already truncated when the page load (SEO friendly).
* Block of text are included in a max of 25 <div> elements and a minimum of 1. That's why I'm not using ID.
So far I have this lines of code:
<script charset="utf-8" language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function test(gaz) {
var sbText = gaz.innerHTML;[code]....
I got this from the web and modified it but not working as I intended it to be.

Is it possible to use Javascript to rotate an image around a certain point?I'm trying to simulate a speedometer on a car, based on live statistics, which will fluctuate. Therefore, I don't know what "speed" the page will have to show.I've created a background image for the speedo and an image for the marker, but I need to rotate the marker around the centre of the speedo image to point to whichever speed is appropriate.Can I do this using javascript?If not, is there any other way to do this, or do I need to create an image for each speed?

What i'd like is a simple converter to allow a user to input the distance travelled
in miles and the time in hours and minutes, the result being an average speed. What i'd appreciate is for someone to write the script for me and post here if possible.

I need to create a conversion tool. On one side of the tool are 4 form boxes. On the other, just text (not in form boxes). Under the covers, I have formulas for converting the numbers -- mostly basic math functions. So, the user types in numbers, clicks convert and the text changes.For some reason, I'm having a hard time getting this to go. How can I get the results of these calculations to show up as text within a DIV tag and not inside a form element? There are lots of examples of getting these calculations to appear within form boxes, but not within DIVs. This page is already using the Dojo toolkit for some other functionality, is this something I could leverage here to build my Javascript?

When it hits top right corner can it then flip 180 degrees and drive back in the other direction? Also how can I do it in jquery for the browsers that don't support the CSS3? I was also wondering if you click on the car could some flames shoot out the exhaust which makes it drive faster??
