We're trying to make all the HTML we write to be forward compatible so we're running our code through an HTML validator.The problem I'm seeing is that the 'rel' attribute is not valid for the <input> element. Although it works fine, is there a work-a-round for this?I've used the 'rel' attribute extensively since I've started using jQuery.
I am trying dynamically modify the scrolling attribute of an iframe, in order to get rid of the buggy horizontal scrollbar that appears in IE when the scrolling is set to 'auto' but disappears when it is set to 'yes'. Details here Code:
I need to copy input (checkbox) values from a form inside my iframe to the form in my parent frame using javascript and I'm not sure how to modify my current code to accomplish this! I'm using cold fusion to display the values from a database inside the iframe. Once all the values are loaded into the iframe, I need to be able to select as many as necessary and then submit the form from the parent frame which then runs a report that utilizes those values, but I can't do that because my code is written so that the values load in the iframe form and the action to run the report that requires those values is executed from the form in my parent frame. Here are the code snipits:
Main "Parent" Frame Code
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <cfparam name="WordFlag" default="0"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

I'm thinking that loading the values into some sort of hidden comma delimited string structure in the parent frame would do the trick, if I'm on the right track, how would I go about doing that?

I have a list of images on the left side of the screen. On the right side I have an iframe for the picture and some text to be displayed. I can create individual pages for this, however I would rather create dynamic pages for this. I would love to be able to have a link on the left side that will send an image filename along with some text to the iframe, so I don't have to create so many smaller files. Has anyone done this?
I want to pass a parameter from my URL to the URL in an iframe source. So when the main page loads the iframe populates based on the parameter in the main URL. Example: [URL]
1. Is it possible to open a new window and pass in some HTML code? For example: Code:
window.open('<HTML><HEAD></HEAD<BODY>Hello World</BODY></HTML>', 'test_window', 'width=400,height=200'); 2. Is it possible to pass in HTML code (using javascript) to an iframe window on the same page? I just want to update the text in the iframe. For example: Code:
Some HTML code... <iframe name="STATUS" src="" </iframe>
Notice how it sets all the other attributes fine, however the name attribute is now called "submitName". This issue only happens in IE. This there any alternatives to setting my iframe name dynamically with javascript.
When I use the HTML tidy tool in Firefox I see the following warning which I want to get rid of . I cleared all the errors and warnings it showed except for this one. I am not able to get rid of this, can someone help me find a solution.
Warning: <iframe> proprietary attribute "onload"
I have the code defined like this where it throws the warning. I have tries different DOCTYPEs ( strict and Transitional) but still the warning persists.
i have found a possible bug in 1.4 but it's only in Internet Explorer 7 & 8.The following code does not work and completely ruins every peice of jquery on the page (that means everything inside $(document).ready and anyting else...
I cant see any syntax errors - i pulled the example from the 1.4 site. There is no trailing commas in the object notation and i really cant see any reason it would work in firefox and not IEx and more to the point not only not work in IEx but break any other jquery in the entire page....
I'm working with a large (and unweildy) ASP.NET application, and there is a lot of jQuery code that uses selectors like this:
[name=_aspnetControl$_withASubControl] And unfortunately, some selectors that also look like this:
[name^=_someAspNetControl$_radioButtonList].
In other words, the effort to remove the $ from the attribute selectors would be monumental. If it is possible to escape the $ symbols, I can do that easily enough, but unfortunately the situation right now means that I can't upgrade to jQuery 1.5.
I'm learning jQuery with XML. I'm familiar with other query languages such as XPath. I'm having a little bit of difficulty wrapping my brain around how jQuery works but I think I can make the leap if I see a solution to a problem I know how to solve with other methods Given the following XML, please share a jQuery solution to finding the value of attribute B in elements named bar where attribute A has the value 30:
I'll trying to tell the difference between the following three cases:
<img alt="text string" /> <img alt="" /> <img />
I can do this in Firefox with the following code, where elem is the HTMLElement representing each image, but IE doesn't seem to differentiate between empty string and undefined.
var alt = elem.getAttribute('alt'); alt = (alt) ? alt : ((alt===null) ? 'really_null' : "");
The desired output from running this code on the 3 tags above is:
text string
really_null
It seems like this should be really easy...but I'm having a really difficult time trying to figure out what's going on...
I have been trying to grasp the whole 'Pass By Value/Reference' thing for a few hours now. From what i can make out:
Passing by value will make a copy of the value, pass it as a function argument and the function will store the changes, the original value is not affected. So for example:
JavaScript Code: var cost = 145;var postage = .3;var a = function() {return cost + postage;} //Using an Anonymous function for this
If you was then to pass the value of 'a' to a function argument it would copy and not change the original value.
If you pass by reference it will change the original value. When you pass a reference to a value through a series of different functions and the value is constantly being changed the change happens on the original value and can be seen outside the function.
The problem is i cannot think of how or why this would be used. I havn't got to develop many large applications so im trying to think of a few situations when passing by reference would be used.
I'd like to resize an iframe into which different (same domain) pages of differing heights are loaded. I can do a first-time resize no problem. It's the subsequent reloads that need to pass back their height to the parent page There seem to be lots of solutions for that around, but few I can see for resizing each time the iframe reloads. One is described here on another board [URL] but unfortunately the test page is no longer around (or indeed the site), so the full code is no longer available there. This one works, almost, for me: [URL] it does resize for me, but not quite sufficiently high each time - about 90% of what is required: [URL] Is there a way to add on sufficient extra margin that scrollbars no longer appear?
Is there a way to resize an iframe dynamically so that you never get the scroll bar and essentially hide that there is an iframe? Better integration really.Basically I want to iframe a forum into my site so that the design down the sides and top which my friend does using iweb are not messed with.We have a central area which can be longer or shorter depending on the forum.
I have a page A and inside it I have an iframe B. B points to another php file that shows a form (so basically in the iframe we see a form). When I submit the form, I call to another page C that verifies the fields of the form and if they are ok I redirect to page X, if not I redirect to page Y. The problem is that I see page X and Y inside the iframe, and I want to see them in the parent page.
