Mar 5, 2010
i have a dropdown menu wrapped in a div attached to this div is the onmouseout event which hides the div this is working the problem however is when moving from 1 link to the next in the dropdown the onmouseout event of the wrapper div is firing and hiding the div prematurely [URl]
relevant code:
<div id="roster_drop" class="drop_menu" style="left: 128px;" onmouseout="this.style.display = 'none';">
<a href="roster.php">Superstars</a>
<a href="champions.php">Champions</a>
<a href="titlehistory.php">Title History</a>
</div>
how do i make the event only trigger when your mouse leaves the div itself and not crossing onto a link

i am working on a custom drop down list that has hidden #options DIV which is shown when the user clicks on a button. the problem i am having is that the click event does not seem to be attached to the LI elements since they are hidden when the page first loads. if i show the #options DIV when the page loads everything is working as expected.i've tried to attach the click event after i show the hidden UL but that didn't work either.what can i do to make sure the LI click event fires? i tried to put A tag inside of LI and attach click to that but to no avail.
<style type="text/css">

I want to change what an OnMouseOut even does. It is contained in a div:
<div id="div1" onMouseOut = "alert('this');">sample text</div>
once the page loads, I call onLoad="setNav('div1')";
In the head of the document is the following javascript function:
function setNav(thisDiv) {
document.getElementById(thisDiv).onMouseOut = "alert('that');";
};
I can determine that I am properly targeting the div, but I cannot change the functionality of what the onMouseOut event does for the targeted div.

I currently have this (Using jQuery):
My problem is that when I hover over info1 and one of its sub elements (p or a), it activates the onmouseout effect. Only though when I cross that invisable box line that surrounds them.
So the effect is this constant mouseover/mouseout effect when I hover over the sub elements (Once I hover over the sub elements, img1 shows, but then I mouseover that so info1 starts to show).

i have a menu generated by a list with nested lists. i want the parent link to stay highlighted when the mouse hovers over the sub menus. because those sub menus are also generated by jquery (qtip), CSS alone won't do it (triedul.topnav li:hover a {background-color: #F00;}).is there a way to do this using jquery?

I have a TD element, with a SPAN element inside. I use td-s onmouseover and onmouseout events for a small animation. My problem is, that, when I move the cursor over the SPAN element, the onmouseout event for TD element is fired. I want to prevent this. With other words, I want onmouseout fired, just when the cursor is moved outside the td area. See the code..

Demonstration page: [url]
Adjust the CSS margins of the BODY element with the first slider. The yellow P (paragraph) element resizes to fit its smaller containing block, as I would expect.
Then, adjust the CSS border or padding of the BODY element with the second and third sliders. The P element does not resize, though its origin changes. Instead, it overflows its containing block.
Finally, adjust the margins again. The P element snaps back into its containing block.
As you can see from the source, this is jQuery 1.6.4 and jQueryUI 1.8 pulled from googleapis.com.
Edit: Client is Google Chrome16.0.889.0 dev-m.

I have some simple code to add and remove a class when an li element is hovered.
$("#nav li").hover(
function(event) {
$(this).addClass("hovered");
[Code]....
The hovered class just adds a background image. When I quickly hover over the list, sometimes the background image gets stuck so it seems like the "hovered" class never gets removed.

I have the following code:
<script

Unfortunately, it's only working for the first hover element on the page..

I'm using code below to run a function when the user move the mousepointer from within a DIV and outside it:The idea is that that mousepointer motion shall hide the DIV.
Code:
document.getElementById(theID).onmouseout = hideDiv;
if (document.getElementById(theID).captureEvents) document.getElementById(theID).captureEvents(Event.MOUSEOUT);
It kind of works, but the problem is that if I move the mousepointer to fast out of the DIV then it will not trigger.The div in question has some elements within it, and originally it was allmost fully covered by those element... and then the onmouseout did not work that good....So I had to create some padding for the div to make it detect the onmouseout better... kind of work... but sometimes failes to trigger on the onmouseout.That padding also make the div not look that good ... so would like to get rid of all the padding as well, and make it work, if possible.I have tested this in the following browsers and get pretty much same behaviour in them all:IE8, Firefox (latest), Chrome (latest), Safari for win (latest beta)...

im having trouble using JQUERYs animate function. Basicly the div has a mouseover event that slides another div (that is inside the original div) upwards. The first div has a mouseout event that slides the second div downwards and out of view. The problem being that when you hover over the second div it fires the first divs mouseout event. Ive tried googling this and have tried adding some event bubbling but having serious trouble with it. here is the website... [URL] hover over the image and you should see the caption appear, roll over the caption and it goes crazy.

Is this possible with JQuery? I have the following code which I think Should do this, but it's not working :/These are two different functions which I've been testing, and the html element is supposed to create a dropdown list via some PHP which will have the option "Other" within it. Unfortunately, I have no idea exactly how to turn "Other" into a text box when the user clicks, and I've been spending a lot of time on this already.

I need to change the class of the 'a' tag within the li that has the nested ul e.g
<div id="menu-container">
<ul class="main-menu">
<li>Link 1<a class="menu"></a></li>
<li>Link 2<a class="menu"></a></li>
<li>Link 3<a class="menu"></a>
<ul class="sub-menu">
<li>Sub Link 1<a class="active-menu"></a></li>
<li>Sub Link 2<a class="menu"></a></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Link 1<a class="menu"></a></li></ul></div>
I need to change it to "active-menu" and the nested a to "menu". I cant change the HTML at all, I wish I could.

...stuff ..
<input id="test-input" type="text" />

but the problem is, iframe and document are on different domains, so I can't access parent.document
Is there some workaround for it? I have full access to both top and iframe document, so can add any javascript to both.

I have the following code in a popup window.
Code:
<td bgcolor="#000000" onClick="javascript:setRGB(0, 0, 0);" class="swatch"></td>
<td bgcolor="#000033" onClick="javascript:setRGB(0, 0, 51);" class="swatch"></td>
<td bgcolor="#000066" onClick="javascript:setRGB(0, 0, 102);" class="swatch"></td>
What I want to do is to define the setRGB function so that when I click on a color swatch (onClick) it updates 3 fields in a form in the window that opened the popup with the corresponding RGB values. So let's say that in the window that opened the popup i have a form 'formname' with three text fields named 'red', 'green' and 'blue'.

I need to select the last children of parent elements
For example
<ul>
<li></li> <-This will have the background #1a
<li></li> <-This will have the background #1a
<li><ul>
[Code]....
So I would need the last children. If there is no nested element then that is considered the last child. I have to write a jquery script to apply a background to the last children. A nested element can have a nested element and then that element's children will be considered the last ones so they will get the background but not the parents of those children. If the item has no children then that item will have a background.
So there are 3 different backgrounds. Each letter a, b c will represent a lighter tone compared to the previous color. C is lighter than B, B is lighter than A etc. So this will have to be a "smart" system in which the ul li will be updated and depending if it is the last one inhierarchyit will not have the arrow.

I have an instance where I do some work in a page contained in an iframe and then need to either outright move or just copy the resulting page elements into the parent page. All of the back end stuff works fine, but the Javascript just runs and doesn't produce anything. The script in question:
Code:
var AddressListDiv = parent.document.getElementById("AddressListDiv");
var ListPanel = document.getElementById("ListPanel");
for(var LPC = 0; LPC < ListPanel.childNodes.length; LPC++)
{
[Code]....
I think I'm running into a restriction in Javascript, but I'm not 100% sure.

I am doing a form for my site and would like to enable and disable a radio
button set depending on whether one of the choices on an outer radio button
set is checked. How can I refer to all the inputs of the inner radio button
set (they all share a common name) with javascript. I tried
document.getElementsByNames('thename') but it doesn't work. I know this is
because this method returns an array which you must then refer to by a
specific index number, unless there is another way. I would like to refer to
all of them at once and then set their disabled status to false.
