<a href="titlehistory.php">Title History</a>
</div>
how do i make the event only trigger when your mouse leaves the div itself and not crossing onto a link

I'm learning jQuery with XML. I'm familiar with other query languages such as XPath. I'm having a little bit of difficulty wrapping my brain around how jQuery works but I think I can make the leap if I see a solution to a problem I know how to solve with other methods Given the following XML, please share a jQuery solution to finding the value of attribute B in elements named bar where attribute A has the value 30:

I'm a member of a forum the for the Winter season has changed it's CSS a:link color attribute to a more winter themed colour. However I want to revert back to original as I don't particularly like the new colour.
My theory is to create a small JS file, that I can define Opera (my browser) to load when loading the site, which will change the colour of links back to the original colour. I have the colour code HTML I want to change it to.
I've only ever done a small amount of JS coding but from the research I've done it should go something like this,
document.style.alinkColor = "COLOR"
I got to that via discovering that
document.style.backgroundColor = "COLOR"
will change the background colour attribute, however it doesn't seem to work. I think my problem lies somewhere in the attribute name, I know the usually with JS CSS Attributes you would make the attribute starting with a lower case letter and the sub-attribute (e.g. the color bit) starting with an upper case.

1) When clicking on a list in an accordion, it should change the quicktime movie playing in a main window area. It works in firefox but not in safari. The variable imgTitle holds the expected output (e.g. '../images/Intro-1.mov'). It changes the src attribute of the embed tag. This change works in Firefox where the new movie plays on click. However, when clicking the list item in safari, nothing happens.
2) There is a problem in firefox as well in that the movie overlays everything else on page, even though it should be behind the text. Positioning would be tedious given that there's many nested elements and I would have to set relative positioning to the entire page.
$(".image_thumb ul li ul li").click(function(){
var imgTitle = $(this).find('a').attr("href");
var imgDesc = $(this).find('.block').html();[code].....

Is this possible with JQuery? I have the following code which I think Should do this, but it's not working :/These are two different functions which I've been testing, and the html element is supposed to create a dropdown list via some PHP which will have the option "Other" within it. Unfortunately, I have no idea exactly how to turn "Other" into a text box when the user clicks, and I've been spending a lot of time on this already.

I have a jquery menu from which i want to post certain information when a particular element is clicked to my php script which searches a db based on the variables input and presents the information back on the page.
So jquery drop down menu has 4 sections all with drop downs. I want to return results based on the section and then the drop down clicked
So clearly i can get this working fine using html and a form but i just want to use the information in the <li> elements instead..
Can i in jquery do this: upon clicking said element post the class attribute and txt as two things to my php scripts?

I have a few input button classes all with the same class. When a user clicks on the input button, then I disable the input button so the user does not click on it again. I want to make it so when the user goes back, all of the buttons of the same class are active again(including the one that the user just clicked on).

I am currently attempting to write a function that retrieves the name attribute from a list of items with a specific class name. To illustrate:
Code:
Show types of food:
<input type="radio" name="food" id="fruit" onclick="setVisibility('fruit')"/>
<label for="fruit">Fruit</label>
<input type="radio" name="food" id="vegetable" onclick="setVisibility('vegetable')"/>
<label for="vegetable">Vegetables</label>
<li class="art" name="fruit">pear</li>
<li class="art" name="vegetable">celery</li>
<li class="food" name="fruit">banana</li>
<li class="food" name="fruit">grapes</li>
<li class="food" name="fruit">orange</li>
<li class="art" name="fruit">grapes</li>
<li class="food" name="vegetable">lettuce</li>
<li class="food" name="fruit">apple</li>
<li class="food" name="vegetable">spinach</li>
<li class="food" name="vegetable">cabbage</li>
I would like create a function called setVisibility to iterate through all the list items where class=food and return the value of the name, so that I can compare that to the radio box, and set visibility accordingly.

The technique for getting the name of a span element should be just like getting the name of any other element, I would think... but it doesn't work in FF or Chrome. Here's some example code:

function test(el){
var boink = document.getElementById('boink');

Is there a way I can make this code work:
<script type="text/javascript">
function changeText(){
document.getElementById('boldStuff').innerHTML = 'Fred Flinstone';
}
</script>
<p>Welcome to the site <b id='boldStuff'>dude</b> </p>
<input type='button' onclick='changeText()' value='Change Text'/>
with this:
document.write('<param name=avatarID value=4>');
So when I click the form button it changes the value 4 to Fred Flinstone

I am trying to set the attribute for an image element.
If i run the following:
Code:
var imgMain = document.getElementById('<%=defaultImage.ClientID%>');
imgMain.setAttribute("data-zoomsrc", "tttt"); //not outputting
imgMain.src = url; //works
The url section works fine. If i check the source code, the attribute data-zoomsrc is never displayed. However, if i write it out in the javascript, i get the value i am after:
Code:
document.write(imgMain.getAttribute("data-zoomsrc"));
document.end
It's almost as though it's just never written to the browser.

Here's what I'm trying to do:
1) I get reference to a div that's on my page:
var theDiv = $("#" + divID);
2) Now I want to add a custom attribute tag to it, so for instance I want to add "winWidth" so that the div object now contains "winWidth=" for instance.
3) I want to set winWidth now since it's part of theDiv to a value
I'm not sure how to really do 1 + 2. I need to do this on the fly because some javascript logic later will add these attributes dynamically to the div... outside of what the original div had...I don't care what it had, I know I have it now in a JS variable and now I want to both add some new attributes to the div, and then set them on the fly. I don't need these attributes to be on my page, I just need them added to my div variable reference.

What I’m trying to accomplish is set an attribute called opacityin any element with a specified value that can be used to toggle whenever the user hovers over the element. The code below works perfectly but one other thing I would like to be able to do is retrieve the attribute opacity after the document loads and fade the element to that value instead of hard coding the ".66". This is probably fairly easy I've just never ran into a situation where I needed to do this.[code]...

I quite like the fact that you may add through JQuery an attribute like alt or title to an element. And I can see that you may also add mouseover using:
$('#aa').mouseover(function(){//does something in here});
However, I want to be able to pass some very specific values too and that's where I'm stuck for an answer. Suppose I want to attach the following:
mouseover="hm(this,'la1',5)"attribute to an <a> tag.
How do I do this by using exactly those values inside the "hm(this,'la1',5)" ?

I have a standard menu structured with an unordered list. Some of the items in the menu have sub items, but are not themselves links. Here's an example:
<ul id="mainMenu">
<li><a href="">home</a></li>
<li><a>services</a>
<ul>
[Code].....
How do I select a tag that does (or does not) have a particular attribute? In my case, I want to be able to select all <a> tags in #mainMenu that do not have the href attribute.
