New Window - Can't Read Property

Sep 30, 2005

I've code like this:

var x =window.open('http://localhost/canvas.html','myokno')
var w =x.width
Permission denied to get property Window.width
var w =x.innerWidth

Permission denied to get property Window.innerWidth
why i can get properties of new created window???
The second problem is much more important:
i want to get element which id is "canvas" and it is in new window so i do
like this:

var canvas = myokno.document.getElementById('canvas')
ReferenceError: myokno is not defined
var canvas = x.document.getElementById('canvas')
Permission denied to call method HTMLDocument.getElementById

so i start working on the problem and:
var can = x.document
can
[object HTMLDocument]
var can2 = can.getElementById('canvas')
Permission denied to call method HTMLDocument.getElementById

what i doing wrong?

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot Read Property '$divref' Of Undefined

Jun 28, 2010

I have a page which has some content that is generated via an AJAX request and JSON. The content is shown and hidden by clicking on each row using the (Animated Collapsible DIV v2.4 script ). It works fine if I have the page as one static file (which I did for testing) showing the same content the AJAX pulls. But when I display the page with AJAX generated content it comes through and the source code is essentially the same but my show/hide effects are not working. I am getting an error when I troubleshoot using Google Chrome Developer Tools that says: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '$divref' of undefined. I tried switching the order of the Javascript and HTML to see if that was the problem. But I think it has something to do with the way the page is loading in the AJAX based version. I looked into using the JQuery LiveQuery plugin but I could not figure out how to make it work with my code nor do I know if it is the fix I need anyways.

JQuery :: Uncaught TypeError - Cannot Read Property Guid Of Undefined

Mar 26, 2010

I have the following JQuery code:
$("#menu-247 > a, #menu-213 > a, #menu-214 > a, #menu-215 > a,
#menu-216 > a, #menu-218 > a, #menu-219 > a").addClass("mainLevel");
/*$(".mainLevel").each(function (i) {
$(this).before('<div id="' + $(this).parent().attr("id") + '-behind"> </div>');
$(this).prev().css({
width: $(this).css("width"),
height: $(this).css("height"),
position: "absolute",
top: "0",
left: $(this).parent().css("left"),
zIndex: "5",
display: "none",
backgroundColor: "blue"
});
$(this).css({
position: "relative",
zIndex: "10"
});
});*/
$(".mainLevel").hover(function() {
alert('test');
});

And I receive the error "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'guid' of undefined" in Google Chrome. I thought it had to do with the fact that the event handler was trying to be added before the DOM was modified. But then I tried simply this:
$("#menu-247 > a, #menu-213 > a, #menu-214 > a, #menu-215 > a, #menu-216 > a,
#menu-218 > a, #menu-219 > a").hover(function() {
alert('test');
});

And still received the error. I removed all the "> a" so I simply had a list of ids and the error was still there. Even when I only have one id listed, the error comes up! It also seems to be any element. But if I just try the alert part, everything works.

Mean Of "Cannot Read Property 'style' Of Null"?

Nov 23, 2009

I'm trying to get rid of some javascript errors related to fadein/fade out. If you go to my test site here [url]... you will see the green ticks and red warning boxes working fine when entering information, but I get 92 (!) errors when checking the error console. [code]...

I have added some style="opacity:1; background: white;" properties to my HTML thinking that was the problem, but it makes no difference. Still getting the error related to line 124.

Permission Denied To Set Property Window.onunload

Jul 20, 2005

This error occurs ONLY in Netscape 7.0. Not in 7.1. So, I think it's a
bug. Buuuut...

Has anyone had this problem or know of a fix?

When attempting to have an onunload function set with "window.onload=",
the error comes up
"permission denied to set property window.onunload"

I can't find a thing on this one. Setting it with the normal "<body
onunload" works fine. But isn't a great thing for me to do, since the
onload is part of a very large menu script.

Here's a test page to illustrate the problem. Netscape 7.0 has a problem
with this. 7.1 does not. IE is fine, too. Code:

Window Property - Current Viewing Height ?

I would also like to return the user's view to the beginning of said <div>.

Until now I have been using a page anchor, but that archetype is no longer a possibility for other reasons. In essence, I would still like to have the same functionality as calling an anchor via URL.

Is there not a dom property / that can be adjusted?

But if I open a browser with the URL set to one of my own pages then it works fine. So I have come to the conclusion it must be some sort of security thing websites use.

Dynamically Setting Display Property Reloads The Window

Jul 11, 2011

I am currently encountering a problem with setting "display" property from "none" to "block":

Browsers will refresh itself when the display property is changed; this causes the element to display then suddenly disappear after the page reload. Do you guys have an idea what I can do to avoid it?

I tried using jquery's show command, css command with setting display to block, and pure javascript method like document.getElementById("theId").style.display="block".

Window.open Object Doesn't Support Property Or Method

Nov 11, 2011

i have a main.asp page where users can select items from dropdowns and listboxes. i have a view report button where i have a onclick property which triggers a javascript function. the function combines all the screen inputs and based on that generates a report in a new window. i have used window.open for this.the problem is, when i close the child window, come back to the main window and click the button again (with all the input fields already selected), the same report should be generated again. instead, i am getting the error : "Object doesn't support the property or method".

Read A Pre Tag With Xml ?

I want to read a pre tag with xml. I am working client side. I have tried everything. The <title> tag gets lost with innerHTML(ok in FF only). I tried traversing the dom and putting in the tag names but the title tag is ignored. I am trying to syntax highlight this. Everything works if I do not use certain html tags. How do I get raw text from the pre? The text would come from one of two sources, a server or inputted into a textarea by the user. It is dynamically placed in the div tag and then processed.

Read From A Textfile?

Jul 23, 2005

I have a database with information of my users, lets say their date of
birth.

I want them to be able to go to my site, and login with a username and
password, after which they get to see what their date of birth is (according
to what's stored in the database).

I want to upload a textfile named "userinfo.txt" structured like:
<username>;<password>;<date of birth>, for example:
"johndoe";"johnpass";"1985-11-25"
"marydoe";"marypass";"1986-02-12"

What's the javascript to have a "username/password" box popup, and when a
valid name/pass was entered show the appropriate date of birth?

Read-only Loading Of An XML

Jul 23, 2005

I use Microsoft.XMLDOM load() method to load an XML file into memory
and display
some elements in the browser.

However it apparently locks the file, since I get this error message
whenever a Visual Basic application concurrently tries to add an
element to the same XML file:

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another
process.

I would like not to lock this file, but open it in read-only mode
instead. In fact the browser simply needs to read its content, it
doesn't need to modify it at all. As a consequence there is no reason
to lock it.

At the same time, I need to access it from the VB process.

How To Read Cookie Set With PHP

Feb 16, 2010

I'm trying to read a cookie that I've set with php with javascript. The cookie is for storing the username when logging in to a site. If the cookie has been set I want the focus in the inline popup to target the password field so that the user doesn't have to tab down from the username field of the login form.

The php script stores the cookie perfectly:
if (isset($_POST['remember'])){
$expire = time()+60*60*24*30;
setcookie("login_username", $username, $expire);
echo $_COOKIE['login_username'];
} else {
if (isset($_COOKIE['login_username']) || isset($_COOKIE['password'])){
$expire = time()-3600;
setcookie("login_username", "", $expire);
}}

The javascript:
if (targetfocus == 'login_username'){
alert(readCookie('login_username'));
if (readCookie('login_username') == 'username'){
targetfocus = 'password';
}}
$("#"+targetfocus).focus();
...
function readCookie(name) {
var cookieName = name + "=";
var cookieArray = document.cookie.split(';');
for (var i = 0; i < cookieArray.length; i++){
var cookie = cookieArray[i];
while (cookie.charAt(0)==' '){
cookie = cookie.substring(1,cookie.length);
}if (cookie.indexOf(cookieName) == 0){
return cookie.substring(cookieName.length,cookie.length);
}return null;
}}

But when trying to read the cookie in the javascript code I receive null when I put an alert to the code. Why won't the javascript find the cookie? Is it because I'm running the site localhost on my laptop? Does that have an effect on cookies?

How To Read Meta Tag Value With Js?
