Permission Denied To Set Property Window.onunload

Jul 20, 2005

This error occurs ONLY in Netscape 7.0. Not in 7.1. So, I think it's a
bug. Buuuut...

Has anyone had this problem or know of a fix?

When attempting to have an onunload function set with "window.onload=",
the error comes up
"permission denied to set property window.onunload"

I can't find a thing on this one. Setting it with the normal "<body
onunload" works fine. But isn't a great thing for me to do, since the
onload is part of a very large menu script.

Here's a test page to illustrate the problem. Netscape 7.0 has a problem
with this. 7.1 does not. IE is fine, too. Code:

Permission Denied To Get Property Window.moveTo......

Aug 11, 2006

When I use javascript to open a new browser on a page like "yahoo" or "hotmail" etc, and then later try to move that window I get the error..

Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to get property Window.moveTo

But if I open a browser with the URL set to one of my own pages then it works fine. So I have come to the conclusion it must be some sort of security thing websites use.

Permission Denied To Access Document Property In Firefox?

Aug 30, 2011

I have WordPress installed in a directory of my website, and I'm using an iframe on the homepage to embed the blog. I'm using a javascript code that I found online to automatically resize the iframe based on the content inside of it. This is the code:

<script type="text/javascript">
function resizeIframe()
{[code]...

This works perfectly in Google Chrome. However, in Firefox I get this error in the console:

Error: Permission denied to access property 'document'
Source File: http://mysite.com/index1.html
Line: 24

I don't have any experience with javascript, but this makes no sense to me, because it should work since the iframe document is on the same domain and server as the parent page. The parent is[url]...." and the iframe document is [url].....Why is Firefox complaining about this? It shouldn't violate the "same origin policy" that I have read about.

only happens with Internet Explorer, Mozilla/Firefox work wonderfully.

Cross Domain Permission Denied Problem

Oct 11, 2005

I'm trying to access window opener properties for some ad code. Sometimes the launching page is in a different domain, and i need my script to recognize this fact and move on to something else without producing the "permission denied" error for all users to see. i've already got if(opener){etc.} in there but that still returns as true, even though we theoretically can't access properties of the opener which is in another domain.

Can anybody think of any solutions that don't involve ugly active X objects? I guess what i'm basically looking for is some way of saying "if permission is denied on this object, don't try to access it's properties and set to a default value instead".

If I click on "login page" or "member page" first, and then click on "Template 1" or "Template 2", it wont work. IE gave me "permission denied" js error. IE Asking For Permission To Close Window

Sep 17, 2004

I have a simple little page that takes a form submission through a query string (GET) to add a record to a database and then uses JavaScript to close the window as it is no longer needed once the back-end processing has been done. (Don't ask why this is. It just is the only way a certain task can be done). The javascript is called by the onload event handler I created:

{self.close();}

No rocket science there. Unfortunately IE (have to use it. No other choice) pops us a confirmation dialog asking if the web page is allowed to close itself. I was under the impression a web page could close itself but as I type this I realize this might be a good thing since anyone could then close a browser window at will if they placed similar code somewhere in their page or, more probable, in someones elses page maliciously.

Window.moveTo "Access Is Denied" Error

Jul 23, 2005

My understanding of "Access is denied" with
respect to window.moveTo is that it results from a request which would
move a portion of the window off screen.

The window in question is 480 high by 1000 wide. The screen dimensions
are 1024x768. The move request is to 10,10, which would put the max
right coordinate of the window at 1010 and the max bottom coordinate at
490. Both coordinates are clearly within the accessable area of the
screen.

The code works fine on server A, but not on server B. Both servers are
identical environments (SuSE Linux, Apache, all the same versions).
Not only that, the code works fine using Firefox on either server.
Only IE throws the error, and only on server B.

The second problem is much more important:
i want to get element which id is "canvas" and it is in new window so i do

var canvas = myokno.document.getElementById('canvas')
ReferenceError: myokno is not defined
var canvas = x.document.getElementById('canvas')

so i start working on the problem and:
var can = x.document
can

var can2 = can.getElementById('canvas')
Permission denied to call method HTMLDocument.getElementById

Onunload And Redirect

Jul 23, 2005

I am trying to use the onunload event to know when the user closes a
popup by receiving a request on the web server.

I have a main page from where the user opens a popup. What I want is
when the user closes the popup, it sends a request to my web server
(GoAhead) using the onunload event, then closes the popup.

For the moment, this what i have: when the user closes the popup, I
use the onunload event to open a different popup (by this way, I get a
request on the web server and I know that the user closes the first
popup), then, this new popup closes itself with the onload event. It
is working but having this second popup opening and closing is not
very neat.

If I try to change the location of the first popup in the onunload
event: onunload="document.location='....'", it doesn't send a request
to the web server when the user closes the popup.

Is there a way to send a request to the webserver when the user closes
the popup without the need to have an extra popup opened and closed ?

The web server I am using is working on a pseudo "cgi" mode called
"goforms", it avoids to create a different process for each request.
With "goforms", each request is handled by a unique process which is
always running.

Detecting If OnUnload() Was Called Because Of A Refresh...

Sep 2, 2005

Is there a way to detect if the reason an onUnload()
handler was called originated from the user explicitly
refreshed the page(s)?

Ie. pressed "Ctrl-R", "F5" or klicked the refresh button
in the toolbar or the context menu?

I'm aware that I can not stop a refresh, but the reason
I want to know is that I have a hidden frame in an intranet
application. This hidden frame is present at all times after
the user have sucessfully logged in (to our db).

So the only time this frame is closed is when the user
navigates away from the intranet app. At which point I want
to log him/her out.

I do thid With an AJAX call in the unload-event of the hidden
frame.

*BUT*... This leads to logging out if the user presses "F5",
or in other ways refresh the window, since a refresh reloads
both frames.

So I thought that if I could detect that this was a refresh in
progress, I can avoid logging him/her out.
