Permission Denied To Set Property Window.onunload

This error occurs ONLY in Netscape 7.0. Not in 7.1. So, I think it's a
bug. Buuuut...

Has anyone had this problem or know of a fix?

When attempting to have an onunload function set with "window.onload=",
the error comes up
"permission denied to set property window.onunload"

I can't find a thing on this one. Setting it with the normal "<body
onunload" works fine. But isn't a great thing for me to do, since the
onload is part of a very large menu script.

Here's a test page to illustrate the problem. Netscape 7.0 has a problem
with this. 7.1 does not. IE is fine, too. Code:

Permission Denied To Get Property Window.moveTo......
When I use javascript to open a new browser on a page like "yahoo" or "hotmail" etc, and then later try to move that window I get the error..

Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to get property Window.moveTo

But if I open a browser with the URL set to one of my own pages then it works fine. So I have come to the conclusion it must be some sort of security thing websites use.

Permission Denied To Get Property Window.startLoad?
All of a sudden, this doesn't work for me:

<script type="text/javascript">

I get the following from firebug.

Permission denied to get property Window.startLoad [Break on this error] window.opener.startLoad();

I am not even sure why it says properly "Window.startLoad" since "startLoad" is a function??

Permission Denied To Get Property XMLDocument.readyState?
I keep getting this error everytime I make an AJAX (iFrame) request to upload a video to viddler.

Permission denied to get property XMLDocument.readyState ajaxupload35.js (line 455) [Break on this error] if (doc.readyState && doc.readyState != 'complete'){

Line 455 to 460 is this:

// fixing Opera 9.26
if (doc.readyState && doc.readyState != 'complete'){
// Opera fires load event multiple times
// Even when the DOM is not ready yet

Full script can be found here.

From another stackoverflow question, I read from Tor Haugen "Does you iframe reference another domain? If it does, you're probably hitting your browser's cross-site scripting defence".

Permission Denied To Access Document Property In Firefox?
I have WordPress installed in a directory of my website, and I'm using an iframe on the homepage to embed the blog. I'm using a javascript code that I found online to automatically resize the iframe based on the content inside of it. This is the code:

<script type="text/javascript">
function resizeIframe()

This works perfectly in Google Chrome. However, in Firefox I get this error in the console:

Error: Permission denied to access property 'document'
Source File:
Line: 24

I don't have any experience with javascript, but this makes no sense to me, because it should work since the iframe document is on the same domain and server as the parent page. The parent is[url]...." and the iframe document is [url].....Why is Firefox complaining about this? It shouldn't violate the "same origin policy" that I have read about.

Firefox Error: Permission Denied To Get Window.Document
I have a standard 3-frame layout; "fnav" on the left, "fheader" at the top and "fcontent" below the header. All files are located locally on the hard drive. This is the JS function that is throwing the error:

Clicking on a link in fnav (or initially loading the frameset) loads content into fcontent, then a JS file in fcontent loads the "header" frame... or it is supposed to, anyway. The Javascript runs fine initially, but whenever a link is clicked I get the following error: Permission Denied To Get Window.document

Web Development - "Permission Denied To Access Property 'href' From A Non-chrome Context" And OpenLayers
This is really two questions one leading into the other. Firstly what does 'Permission denied to access property 'href' from a non-chrome context' actually mean? Secondly I am using overlays in OpenLayers and wish to change the opacity of said layers, this is where this error is being thrown the code of which is here...

<input id='opacity' value="1.0" onChange="changeOpacity()">
Of which changeOpacity() is the following function...
function changeOpacity() {
var newOpacity = parseFloat(OpenLayers.Util.getElement('opacity').value);
newOpacity = Math.min(1.0, Math.max(0.1, newOpacity));
OpenLayers.Util.getElement('opacity').value = newOpacity;

JQuery :: Interaction With A Child Window Raise A "permission Denied" Error?
I have some code that I would swear was working a month ago. However, now the code throws a permission denied to get property Window.jQuery error. I can see this error in the Firefox error console.

The code in question belongs to a window that was opened via JavaScript. This code attempt to update the contents of a DIV in the opening page. In an attempt to update this DIV, I try to access it using the following script:

However, this line is what triggers the permission denied error. how to use jQuery to update the contents of a DIV in an opening window?

Permission Denied
Since the latest round of hot fixes several of my pages that use
frames have started throwing permission denied. They seem to occur
when I try to manipulate the content of one frame from another, or
from a popup window. Both frames are running on the same server
however they use different BASE HREF tags. Any ideas? Workarounds? It
only happens with Internet Explorer, Mozilla/Firefox work wonderfully.

Permission Denied From Iframe, Even When It Is The Same Domain
I have a registration process loaded dynamically to a page in an iframe. This process is on a different domain which I know is prohibited via the same origin policy.

However ! at the end of the process I direct the frame back to a page on the parent domain with a url variable and then fire a function to refresh the page.

I assumed that as the page is now on the same domain this would not be an issue and on firefox and chrome it works great, however on ie it still throws a permission denied error.

The function im running inside the iframe

if(gup("command") == "refresh"){

And in the parent frame I have

Cross Domain Permission Denied Problem
I'm trying to access window opener properties for some ad code. Sometimes the launching page is in a different domain, and i need my script to recognize this fact and move on to something else without producing the "permission denied" error for all users to see. i've already got if(opener){etc.} in there but that still returns as true, even though we theoretically can't access properties of the opener which is in another domain.

Can anybody think of any solutions that don't involve ugly active X objects? I guess what i'm basically looking for is some way of saying "if permission is denied on this object, don't try to access it's properties and set to a default value instead".

JQuery :: Permission Denied On A Local File?
function publish(text) {

I've inherited this chunk of HTML and javascript above (snippet). It is/was going to be used as local help. Currently it is online only and it works fine. However, when I copy the files locally, I get "Permission Denied" in Internet Explorer and in Chrome doesn't do anything when I "click here for more help". What it's supposed to do is load the help content from inline-help.html and display it in the helpdiv div. Now here is the kicker, if I take the same files and copy them to inetpub on my PC and load them as http://localhost/hello.html it functions perfectly.

Presumably this is a security thing where the "local" zone isn't allowing me to load files off of the user's HD? But I'm not really sure what's going on and would like to understand this problem further and potentially come up with a workaround.
