Aug 31, 2011I am so stuck on making a virtual keyboard using jquery. I found a great tutorial on nettuts however it requires you to click the letters on the virtual keyboard instead of using your actual keyboard and typing it. Does anybody know any tutorials that offer that or any suggestions? I know i have to use the keydown method but I really don't understand it. Here is an example of what it is suppose to be.

Sep 12, 2011I'm working on a site hosted through a blog-managing company. Sometimes their programming doesn't seem to let me do things that would normally be possible, so I have to find creative work-arounds.
This time, It doesn't seem I can use javascript to change an href destination that is generated by their system. I want the user to go to a different page, when they click on that link.
I can have a script find a specific href, but it can't change it for some reason. So I'm wondering if there's a way I can just have the script redirect the user if they click on that link? I know it seems like a long way round, but I don't see any other way to do this under the circumstances.
Here's what I thought would work, but didn't: document.getElementById('elementName').href == [url]
Internet Button On Keyboard Causing Trouble!
Nov 30, 2004I have an internet key on my keyboard, and I'm sure others do too. When I push it, it opens Internet Explorer to my homepage. If I am already in internet explorer, and the page is focused, and I push the internet button, then it changes the location of the page to my homepage.
I want to prevent it from doing this for my users whom visit my site. I have a popup, and while in that popup, it is likely they push that button, or start internet explorer. Is there anyway to detect this, and either block it, or blur the page before it takes effect in Javascript?
It DOES NOT happen if I push START>Internet Explorer since when I click Start, it blurs the webpage.

When this web page/form loads all the fieldsets at that time they are collapsed/closed but when user clicks on any legend the fieldset becomes expand/open.
Now I want to add another feature that when user finishes entering data in the controls of first fieldset and he/she wants to move to the very next fieldset. Then he/she (currently in the last control (that may be a textbox or a dropdown list) of the previous fieldset) can open/expand ***only*** the very next fieldset by just hitting/pressing tab from the keyboard.

Keyboard Focus Outline - Browser Back Button - Onmouseup And Blur
May 17, 2011This is a really basic question: what does blur mean, or what does it do when used in links as described below? I've tested it on Firefox 3.6 and Opera 11 and it behaves as I hope except for one thing. During testing if I use both keyboard and mouse to navigate within the same session, the browser history for the 'other' method is wiped out; it won't go backwards beyond the most recently used method. Is this not a surprise when you know what blur really means? I want the following (assuming Javascript is enabled):
a) Keyboard users to see a focus outline on navigation links.
b) Keyboard users to see the outline still there if they use the browser Back button, and continue tabbing from that link onwards.
c) Mouse users to NOT see an outline if they use the browser Back button.

Form Button To Work With Enter Key
Oct 28, 2010I have a form setup so that when you enter something in a text field and click a button it checks to see if the value entered in the text field is the "correct" letter and if its right it changes the CSS property of a div container to be shown which then has a link to a the next question. So I don't really have a submit button because my form isn't setup to work with one.only problem is when you enter a letter and click enter it acts as a submit and the submit does nothing, which is what it's suppose to do.So what I'm asking is how can I get that button to respond to an enter instead of the default submit taking over the enter key?

Stopping Form Submiting With Enter Button
Jun 9, 2006I am having trouble with a form submiting when the enter button is pressed in a text field causing it to submit.
Basically there is a text field and a button and when I click on the button it calls a function that does a a few things that need to happen before submiting. I submit the form in the function.
How can I prevent hitting enter on the text field submit the form. If I could do this then I could call a function onkeyup to check for the enter button being pressed and call the other function to submit the form.

Jun 9, 2010I have a form with a bunch of selects and a single text input.Form data is sent via $.post whenever the inputs are changed, so a submit button isn't needed. The form does contain one regular button (using the button tag, not the input tag). The button shows a jQuery UI dialog when clicked.
If you press the enter key in the text field, the browser submits the form but it also acts like you clicked the button (the dialog appears). That makes no sense to me. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?I've already tried adding a few things to the form's submit handler, but they don't make a difference.
