JQuery :: Picture Fade Script To Fade Background Image?

Feb 14, 2011

This is a really awesome script that I'm sure all of you can put to use if you haven't yet heard of it. However, I'm trying to get it to fade a background image on my css styled navigation for my a:hover. Here is the script with a little simple tutorial on how to set it up: [URL] My only other knowledge is in PHP, so after about 2 hours of fail in this client-side language

This is the link to my site so far: [URL] You can see the script working as it is on my little yellow MW logo on the right side of the navigation. So in my scenario, I am looking to fade button.png to button-hover.png (both repeating on the x axis).

JQuery :: Advanced Image Transition - Image Fade To Another Oneprogressively While The Mouse Is Over

Oct 25, 2011

The objective is to have an image fade to another one progressivly while the mouse is over, when its not it fades back to the original, whether or not it faded to the target completely or not. That is, if it takes 1 second to fade completely to the other image, and you take your mouse off it at 0.5 seconds, it will begin to fade back to the original. I have a problem where I want to give this ability to multiple images (thumbnails) on a page, without having reams and reams of code and instead just have one function accomadate any number of images.

Basic Image Replacement

Apr 2, 2005

I've been looking at all the various image replacement techniques..and they all seem unnecessarily complicated. I came up with:

function replaceLogo() {
document.getElementById('header').innerHTML = '<img src="/images/logo-tci.gif" />'
}
It's just replacing the layer contents at a very basic level.

This works just fine, I'm just wondering how well supported it would be across different browsers. Anyone know of a table of browsers that support innerHTML or see potential cross-browser issues with this technique?

Slideshow Timing (basic) - Message Should Disappear After The Final Image Has Been Preloaded

Dec 19, 2010

I'm trying to build a slideshow page in Javascript. It's dynamically built and all of that is working, but the Javascript timing is giving me trouble. First, a PHP script builds an array of Image objects to preloads. I have a 'Loading pictures....' message appear in the foreground of the page. This message should disappear after the final image has been preloaded.

I'm using Javascript's onLoad() event of the last image to change the message's CSS div display property to hidden, but it always executes immediately, even though the browser is obviously still working. Is there a way just to tell Javascript "do not proceed with the rest of the code until this task has finished"?

JQuery :: Fade In Image Roll-over?

Apr 13, 2010

So I wrote a code to simply display an image when a link is rolled over:

[URL]

The problem (which you may have already noticed) is that when you rollover the two links fast, the images appear below each other. What I want to do is find a way to make the images appear on top of each other so it will look more like they're crossfading without changing the shape of the site.

JQuery :: Image Fade In On Rollover?

Apr 13, 2010

I wrote a couple of lines of code to simply fade in an image when a user rolls over a link:

[URL]

The only problem (which you probably already noticed) is that when you rollover the links quickly, the image appears below the other for a quick second until it completely fades away. I want each image to appear on top of each other when the user rolls over a link fairly fast, so it doesn't change the shape of the website like that. In other words it will look like they crossfade pretty much.

JQuery :: Random Image Fade Grid ?

Sep 21, 2009

I'm trying to use jQuery to produce something similar to this flash example [url]although I'd like the effect to be somewhat more controlled.

In a nutshell, what I'm trying to achieve is a 3 x 4 grid of (12) images which appears to load in a random order and then 1 by 1 (again in random order) fade out to be replaced by another image. I'd like the effect to be quite subtle, smooth and calming with the timing between image fades to be fairly even.

All images would be pulled from a folder on my webserver. I don't want the same image to be visible more than once at any time, although I don't mind repeating images as long as they're not already in the grid - hopefully that makes sense?

Ideally I'd like only one image to be changing at any given time with a pause before the next image starts to fade into new image.

The way I've been trying to tackle this so far is to use 12 different instances of a jquery image fade laid out in a CSS grid.

There are a few problems with my approach so far;

Doesn't appear random

Timing - multiple squares change at same time. (I only want one image to change at a time)

Same image often repeated at same time within grid

Its not long before a pattern emerges and you can tell which image will change next.

I'm sure this must be possibly, but my math or scripting skills aren't quite there yet.

JQuery :: Change Image Src With Fade Effect?

$(".thumbs a").click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$imgURL = $(this).attr("href");
$(".boat_listing .mainGallery").fadeIn(400, function() {

This works and replaces the image without a fade effect. What do I need to change to get the fadeIn effect to work?

JQuery :: Fade In Image On Page Load

Aug 12, 2010

I have a query. What is the best way to fade in an image on a page load so that the image is visible if javascript is not supported and does not jump around all over the place if it is supported. What I have found is that I can make it work using either document ready or on window onload however the images all load first and the page goes all crazy for a few seconds before the script actually does what it is supposed to. What I do not want to do is hard code the css display as none for the image as a property as either an element style or in the css file. The reason being that if the script does not run... the image will never load.

OPTION 1
$(
document
).ready (
function (){
$('#logo'
).hide().
fadeIn(
3000
);});

OPTION 2
window.onload =
function(){
$('#logo').
hide().fadeIn(
3000 );};

Is sounds not so difficult, but for me become a hard task.
