JQuery :: Loading Bar/image And Then Fade In Website?
Jul 13, 2011
Basically, i've got a very large website as the client wanted a fancy horizontally scrolling one. As such the images/javascript effects take a little while to load.Basically i'd want an animated gif to act as a loading image and then once the website has completed loading the whole page fades in (this includes all images, text, javascript functions etc etcI can do it when loading an image but am stuck with how to do it for say a whole website.

This is a really awesome script that I'm sure all of you can put to use if you haven't yet heard of it. However, I'm trying to get it to fade a background image on my css styled navigation for my a:hover. Here is the script with a little simple tutorial on how to set it up: [URL] My only other knowledge is in PHP, so after about 2 hours of fail in this client-side language
This is the link to my site so far: [URL] You can see the script working as it is on my little yellow MW logo on the right side of the navigation. So in my scenario, I am looking to fade button.png to button-hover.png (both repeating on the x axis).

I have a site where the header, footer, menu and Google map remain present on most pages,but the copy in the main paragraph changes depending on which menu option is selected.The above is achieved using PHP includes and query strings.I'm using jQuery to 'fade in' the main body text when a page loads, and 'fade out' the text when a menu link is clicked on. It just looks nice, because all the stuff that is always present stays in place (I guess the browser caches it?) and just the main body text fades out and the new fades in.The thing is, the 'fade out' that is triggered by the 'click' event (on the menu link) tends to be interrupted by the browser moving on to the new page. I just want to the browser to stay for half a second so that the nice fade finishes properly. Ironically, when my connection is interrupted or the new page loads slowly, it looks at its best because the fade has time to finish

The objective is to have an image fade to another one progressivly while the mouse is over, when its not it fades back to the original, whether or not it faded to the target completely or not. That is, if it takes 1 second to fade completely to the other image, and you take your mouse off it at 0.5 seconds, it will begin to fade back to the original. I have a problem where I want to give this ability to multiple images (thumbnails) on a page, without having reams and reams of code and instead just have one function accomadate any number of images.

I have this loading.gif image that is 750px, when it should be 32px. The reason it's huge now is because my original solution was displaying two images: one 750px version of the loading.gif image and one 32px version (in the center of the 750px) of the same image. Now I'm at least down to one image, even if it's the wrong version.Click any of the thumbnail images here, and then again on the thumbnail at the top of that popup product gallery to see what I mean: need that huge loading.gif to be 32px like it should be, and then expand to 750px once the image is loaded. I've tried a bunch of solutions, but nothing has solved the problem.This is the code I have at the moment, although I'm working on the issue now so it may change.
$('#inline .thumbGrid img').click(function(){
var strLargeImg = document.getElementById('OBOEsac');
$('.galleryPopup').attr('src','/site/scripts/colorbox/images/loading.gif');
[code]....

This might be a combo Javascript / CSS question I'm building a website, and I'm wanting to have small, approx 100px x 100px pop up display that has a "page loading" spinning gif. I also want the page to fade out while this image is displayed. For instance, someone submits a form that takes 3-4 seconds to load. Once they hit submit, the screen darkens, the new window comes into focus, center of screen, and it has some kind of rotating gif, basically a trigger 'on submit'..

I'm working at a college in Michigan and we have an issue with the files not loading correctly for our website. The issue appears to be a javascript problem. When I try to access a page, it will load, but the javascript functions for instance will show up on the page as if it is just html text. So I right-clicked the page, clicked "view source" and when the source code for the file opens up it shows the javascript portion in the head section as:
<disabled-script type="disabled-text/javascript">
function somefunction(){}
</disabled-script>
However, the code I have in the file of course is written as:
<script type="text/javascript">
function somefunction() {}
</script>
I do not have javascript disabled on my browser or anything, so that is not the issue. For some reason it appears it is getting disabled though on page load.

I want to let the background fade to the new background directy, and not a white background first.

I'm making a landing page and wanted to fade a css background image (actually 2 of that part of my divs)
<body>
<div id="outer_wrapper">
<div id="inner_wrapper">
<div class="content_info"></div>
</div>
</div>
I couldn't find an exact example or of a way to do this. I've been struggling on this for hours. All I'm trying to do is fade in those divs after a certain time has passed (like 5secs after the page loads)

So I wrote a code to simply display an image when a link is rolled over:
[URL]
The problem (which you may have already noticed) is that when you rollover the two links fast, the images appear below each other. What I want to do is find a way to make the images appear on top of each other so it will look more like they're crossfading without changing the shape of the site.

I wrote a couple of lines of code to simply fade in an image when a user rolls over a link:
[URL]
The only problem (which you probably already noticed) is that when you rollover the links quickly, the image appears below the other for a quick second until it completely fades away. I want each image to appear on top of each other when the user rolls over a link fairly fast, so it doesn't change the shape of the website like that. In other words it will look like they crossfade pretty much.

I'm trying to use jQuery to produce something similar to this flash example [url]although I'd like the effect to be somewhat more controlled.
In a nutshell, what I'm trying to achieve is a 3 x 4 grid of (12) images which appears to load in a random order and then 1 by 1 (again in random order) fade out to be replaced by another image. I'd like the effect to be quite subtle, smooth and calming with the timing between image fades to be fairly even.
All images would be pulled from a folder on my webserver. I don't want the same image to be visible more than once at any time, although I don't mind repeating images as long as they're not already in the grid - hopefully that makes sense?
Ideally I'd like only one image to be changing at any given time with a pause before the next image starts to fade into new image.
The way I've been trying to tackle this so far is to use 12 different instances of a jquery image fade laid out in a CSS grid.
There are a few problems with my approach so far;
Doesn't appear random
Timing - multiple squares change at same time. (I only want one image to change at a time)
Same image often repeated at same time within grid
Its not long before a pattern emerges and you can tell which image will change next.
I'm sure this must be possibly, but my math or scripting skills aren't quite there yet.

I'm trying to create an effect where you click on a thumbnail image, and the link to the thumbnail will replace the main image, but fade it in. This is the code I'm currently using:
$(".thumbs a").click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$imgURL = $(this).attr("href");
$(".boat_listing .mainGallery").fadeIn(400, function() {
[Code].....
This works and replaces the image without a fade effect. What do I need to change to get the fadeIn effect to work?

I'm working on a simple mouseover function to swap div/image fade IN and OUT and I'm getting this white flicker in between. It seems like the fadeIn waits for the fadeOut to start, hence the flicker. I've searched and found solutions, but can't implement them correctly as I am more of a beginner with JS and jQuery.

I have a query. What is the best way to fade in an image on a page load so that the image is visible if javascript is not supported and does not jump around all over the place if it is supported. What I have found is that I can make it work using either document ready or on window onload however the images all load first and the page goes all crazy for a few seconds before the script actually does what it is supposed to. What I do not want to do is hard code the css display as none for the image as a property as either an element style or in the css file. The reason being that if the script does not run... the image will never load.
OPTION 1
$(
document
).ready (
function (){
$('#logo'
).hide().
fadeIn(
3000
);});
OPTION 2
window.onload =
function(){
$('#logo').
hide().fadeIn(
3000 );};
