JQuery :: Live() Event Doesn't Refresh The Class Of The Event Which Was Changed Dynamically

Jul 4, 2009

I got this problem with live() event.I have used it as follows.

$(".addressDiv span").live("mouseover", function(){
//clickable function here......
------------------------
});

I have used the live() event to trigger the function on mouseover in the dynamically added elements. But the problem i got is that once the live event is called it takes the class of the element and stores. And when the class of that particular element is changed dynamically the live() event does not detect the new classed added dynamically, instead it takes the former class. Live() event does not update the class.

JQuery :: Live Event Doesn't Work After Append()

Jun 28, 2009

I found the bug ticket with similar problem: [URL] but it was closed as invalid. The problem still exists for me. I have the following live event: $("a:not([onclick])").live('click', ajaxLinkHandler); It's not applying to content loaded via $.ajax(...).responseXML which I used to append in the following way:

// withing ajaxLinkHandler
var content = $(loadedDocument).find("[component='"+ id +"']");
$(this.contentContainer).empty().append(content);

JQuery :: .click() Trigger Doesn't Do Anything?

May 14, 2010

I'm creating a clickable <DIV> that calls the "resizeVideo" function.

jQuery("<DIV>").attr("id", "video1FullSize").click(resizeVideo);

This works great, and clicking the button repeatedly calls resizeVideo. resizeVideo looks at the ID of the item that called it (video1FullSize) to determine which video should be resized (video1).Now, I want to add some logic to also call this event when the window is resized. Before getting too involved in the issues surrounding how often the resize event is called on a window, I'm trying to simply "click" #video1FullSize to simulate the event.

jQuery("#video1FullSize").click();
jQuery("#video1FullSize").trigger("click");

JQuery :: Trigger Click Event On Select?

Jul 15, 2010

I have been trying to develop a simple method of styling the button on select dropdowns. Basically just positioning a span of the button on a select box that is styled as required.

That is trivial...

What I have so far failed to achieve is to get the select box to show its options when clicking this span - just want to have the select box drop down the options as it normally would.

tried .trigger('click') and .trigger('mousedown') but to no avail...

Here is what I have:

$(document).ready(function(){
$('select').after('<span class="cta arrow-down"></span>');
$('input[type="submit"]').after('<span class="cta arrow-right"></span>');
$('span.cta').each(function(){

JQuery :: Using Trigger Event To Automatically Register Click?

Aug 11, 2011

I have a problem with the trigger event. I'm using a function that opens a curtain by clicking an image. I wish to use the trigger event to automatically register a click on that image so the curtain opens automatically. I've been messing with it and have had it work successfully in Chrome but not FF.
Here is the initial code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$curtainopen = false;
$(".rope").click(function(){
$(this).blur();
if ($curtainopen == false){
$(this).stop().animate({top: '0px' }, {
queue:false, duration:350, easing:'easeOutBounce'});
$(".leftcurtain").stop().animate({width:'60px'}, 2000 );
$(".rightcurtain").stop().animate({width:'60px'},2000 );
$curtainopen = true;
}else{
$(this).stop().animate({top: '-40px' }, {
queue:false, duration:350, easing:'easeOutBounce'});
$(".leftcurtain").stop().animate({width:'50%'}, 2000 );
$(".rightcurtain").stop().animate({width:'51%'}, 2000 );
$curtainopen = false;
} return false;
});});

Onchange Event Doesn't Trigger When For A Drop-down List?

Jan 21, 2009

I have made a drop-down list on my html form using <select> tag. I am using a onchange event for this select tag. My problem is that the onchange event triggers only when I use the mouse to change the value to drop-down list. When I use tab key to focus on the list and then change the value using up-down keys, the onchange event does not get triggered.

JQuery :: Events/live And Default - Method To Bind A Handler To A Click-event For All Links With Class "userDiv"

I use the live - method to bind a handler to a click-event for all links with class "userDiv"

When I DON'T use this and use instead the "normal" click handler

I can still use the middle Mouse-Button in Firefox to open the link in a new tab without any jquery-stuff

But when I use the live-method (and it would be nice to use it) the middle Mouse-Button behaves like the left one.

JQuery :: .click() Event Doesn't Work In Load()-ed Document

<div id="container">
<div id="toggle">TOGGLE</div>
<div id="showArticles">

[code]....

so if i click on the toggle div.. nothing happens so i tried to put a <p id="toggle"> in the navigation bar which is static (not being load()-ed in via jQuery) and it worked so it seems to me, that jQuery can't get the click event out of the load()-ed page

JQuery :: Submit Function Not Always Trigger Live Or Bound Handler

Sep 25, 2010

I have this boiled down to the following code: [URL]. I have two text inputs in a form, and a keydown handler to catch the arrow keys. When the focus is lost on an input, it is supposed to call the submit handler on the form. When I use the tab key, it works as expected, and calls my submit handler. However, when I use the arrow keys, it submits the form and goes to the action url, not running the alert in my custom submit handler. It's as if it either loses the bound submit handler or it calls a new default one or something.

JQuery :: Selectable Plugin Prevents Click Event?

Mar 2, 2009

I've recently started working with jQuery. Using v1.3.1 and UI v1.6RC6. I created an accordion with another accordion nested within it. I've set both to selectable. Things seemed to be working fine until I noticed that IE and FF were behaving differently. IE allowed me to open the accordion tab that contained the nested accordion, and then allowed me to open up the nested accordion. In FF, I could not open the nested accordion. I managed to get it working in FF by setting the cancel property to li element (which contained the nested accordion). Questions:

1) I traced through the code and didn't see where jQuery unbound the click event that should have been caught by the accordion headers. The only thing that I can see is that the selectable items catch the mousedown event, and when caught create a helper div element at the same position that the mousedown occurred and at z-index 100. I've read elsewhere that a browser registers a click only if the mousedown and mouseup occurred on the same element. Does adding this element fool the browser into thinking there wasn't a click?

2) Following #1. I've read that event bubbling follows the DOM hierarchy - from child to parent, However, is it correct to assume that the target element initially determined by the element with the highest z-index (assuming all different)? Once triggered then event would bubble up ignoring z-index?

3) If #1 and #2 are fairly accurate, does anyone have any idea why IE would seem to still register a click event? Maybe it ignores the fact that another element with a higher z-indez was added and simply compares mousedown/up coordinates?

JQuery :: When New Element Is Prepended - Click Event Doesn't Work On It And Actions

Feb 1, 2011

I have a js(using jQuery lib) file where all events and following actions(functions) are written. For one of such events there is a function that prepends one more similar element from which prepending was called:

$("#id1").click(function(){
$(...).before("<div id='id1'></div>");
});

so that when I will click to just prepended element one more element should be prepended and so on.The problem is that when new element is prepended, click event doesn't work on it. jQuery doesn't recognize it, like doesn't see it.

Why Doesn't My Button Click Event Fire?

Nov 16, 2006

I'm new to JavaScript and I wrote this code to play with. Oddly, if I
enter text in a box and then press the button, I only get the onChange
event for the text box and not the button's onclick event. But if I
press the button without entering text first, the button click event
does work. What's up?

<html>
<body>
<h3>Events on Buttons and Text Boxes</h3>
<input id="myTextBox1" type="text" onChange="doChange1()" /<br />
<input id="myTextBox2" type="text" onChange="doChange2()" /<br />
<input id="myButton" type="button" onclick="doClick()" value="Click me"
/>
<script type="text/javascript">
function doChange1(e)
{
var val = document.getElementById("myTextBox1").value;
alert("You typed: " + val);
}
function doChange2(e)
{
var val = document.getElementById("myTextBox2").value;
alert("You typed: " + val);
}
function doClick(e)
{
var _num = prompt("Enter a number", "100");
alert("You typed: " + _num); // number converted to string

JQuery :: Event.stopPropagation() Is Preventing A Live Event On A Child Element

Jul 6, 2009

As far as I understood, stopPropagation() is supposed to stop events bubbling 'up' though the element tree (through parent elements). Eg. If I use stopPropagation() on a click event on an anchor element in a list, the event would not be triggered on the list. In my code I have a popup div, that needs to have stopPropagation(), as a click on the document (everywhere other than the popup) will hide it. When I add an element to the popup that has a live click event, the live click event is never called, even though it is a child element of the popup. Shouldn't the live click get called first? If I remove the stopPropagation all is well.. some code:

$('#a_test_link').live("click", function(e){
e.preventDefault();
alert('done!');
});

[Code].....

I have seen methods where the {display:none} CSS styles are applied then changed via JS but can't figure this out. If anyone can either recommend a decent plugin with provisions for JS disabled browsers

JQuery :: Can't Use .live To Re-initialise A Plugin When Dom Is Updated / Why Is So?

May 24, 2011

Here is a live view of the problem I have:As you can see I am building a page which has an image cycle/carousel. On each of the images I would like to also have a zoomable loupe - I am using the jQzoom plugin to achieve this. Hover over the first image and you will see the zoom appear.

However, whilst all works fine on the first image, as soon as I click the next arrow (just visible at present top left of image as CSS tweak needed) to load the second image and hover over for the zoom, the second zoomed image fails to load. Anyone know why?

I am presuming it's because the cycle plugin hides the images so the jqZoom plugin can't 'grab' them.

I've been reading up on .live() function - can I use this to solve the problem? If so, could you provide some pointers...?

$('.work').live(fadeTo('fast',.35));
Above does not seem correct, but I have searched for more info/documentation on using live() with fadeTo but have found nothing.
