I'm trying to make use of jQuery's datepicker. The hidden field is used to make the datepicker appear and stores the date data that will be sent to the server. The SPAN tag will show the "pretty" date format for the user.
The altField option doesn't seem to work, as the SPAN tag is not an INPUT tag. So, I saw that I could add a custom function using the onSelect event, so I attempted to write what you see below. I can't seem to find any clear documentation on how to handle the "inst" variable or how to pull the date from it so it can be formatted.
If I use the "dateText" variable, that only seems to contain the date as a formatted string, and not as a Date() object that I can format.
I have an inline datepicker on my page...I need two things:
1.) I've implemented the onSelect method, but what I really want to do is do a non-modal popup for the user to see what calendar events from the database that are on the date selected. I've worked out all the database and json parts, but now I need to make the popup near the calendar. I'm surprised that there isn't any mouse coordinates passed to the onSelect function. Anyone ever attempted something like this?
What I'm looking for is something similar to this: [url]
2.) Also from the link above, you see how they have a star on the dates that have events associated with that date? How can we modify the date so that there is some way to distinguish days that have events associated with them versus ones that don't.
We're using the Datepicker plugin, and it works great. We don't have any text input field tied to it, instead we have associated our own js-function with the onSelect attribute. But now the client wants to be able to click on the week number, or the month and then do something based on that. Preferably some onSelect function, just like when a user selects a specific day. Is this possible?
A very simplistic example of what I would want to be able to do, all with one single datepicker instance [code]...
I'm using my custom component that has a combo box (jsf's h:selectOneMenu, which has a onselect event)in it and it already has a onchange event, so I want the onchange event to trigger another onselect event with jQuery and it only works in Firefox.
I tried it without the component and it looks like this:
I have a button and when I click on the button I want to reload my DatePicker accordingly and launch the beforeShowDay event of the datePicker from my click event. How can I do that? How to set the DatePicker date to the ListDate[0] date?
I have a jquery datepicker that is working fine. I'm using a calendar icon only to start the datepicker and the result (the chosen date)is shown as text - not as an input field. To get this result to show, the user has to click an 'update' functionbuttonfirst, which in my case has nothing to do with the datepicker itself. I know I can use altField to show the result immediately, but that has drawbacks. SoI would like to improve the way it works as follows: when the user picks a date, I want the datepicker to close (which it already does) and the chosen date to show immediately, without the user having to click the 'update' button first. How do I do that? I don't like to use altField, as the user can muck around with the result if they want to -it is an input field after all.
I would like to access the create call back function. So far no luck. It appears the function is not getting executed. Any ideas where I may be going wrong? code...
I wanted to show a datepicker on a custom click event. i can't use datepicker button or image due to lack of space and certain other restrictions.
I have created a custom button with a custom look and feel. i want the click event on this button to trigger datepicker display.
I tried to use:
But this is merely associating the textfield datepick with datepicker, its not showing it.. rather we have to click on textfield after the button click to show the datepicker.
The table, and the input id element, are dynamically created from database records and I use jQuery live to initialize the datepicker for each field, like so:
The idea is that when I click in the input field, the datepicker pops up and allows the user to input a date. While the date shows in the input field in the table, the value attribute of the input field is empty. I can't use the getDate() method on the datepicker, since I can't programmatically connect the datepicker element in any particular row with the input element in that row. I tried the onClose method shown below, but that doesn't work either. Has anyone done this successfully?
When dialog pops up and when I want to select date from datepicker but clicking on input datepicker is under dialog. What option make it to be on top ?
i m using jquery datepicker .it's works fine in all other browser except IE the only problem with IE is that the when i m using datepicker it wont fire my text change events IE.works fine in all other browse . if i remove plugin then IE fires text change .so the only problem with datepicker + IE my page is .aspx and i m using .net
I am trying to activate a javascript behavior when the user selects a checkbox, and another behavior when the user un-select the checkbox.
I know the "onSelect" event exists, although after some testing, it does not seem to work when applied to a checkbox. Then it seems the onUnSelect event does not exist.
Does the following indeed imply that this event is NOT called when an <input type="checkbox" is toggled?
This would thus imply the usage of the onClick handler instead (assuming an action needs to be invoked on check/ uncheck).
W3C Recomendation: 18 Scripts
onselect = script [CT] The onselect event occurs when a user selects some text in a text field. This attribute may be used with the INPUT and TEXTAREA elements.
I *know* the onClick can be used, I am just wondering about the use og onSelect.
I have been trying to figure this out for a while, and I cant manage to get it working. I have a table for instance the one below: <tr> <td><input type='text' id='test_value[]' .... /></td> <td><input type='text' id='test_value2[]' .... /></td> <td><input type='text' id='date[]' onclick ="testfunc(this);" .... /></td> </tr>
Within my function I can grab the index of the onclick no problem, but when I select the date from the date picker, it always select the first column. testfunc(val) val.parentNode.parentNode.rowIndex I am using clone to create multiple instances of a row, but how can I use non-unique id (date[]) which all my X rows have the same name, to unique enter the datepicker value.
I'm using the jQuery UI datepicker and it's absolutely brilliant. But is there a way to attach it to my own button?
[Code]...
And it generates a button with calendar.gif next to the input, which is almost fine. But I'd like to set up my own <img tag to go next to the input to trigger the datepicker. I want my own button so I can set my own style options on it (cursor and vertical align).
I am using jQuery for the first time, I think I have everything setup correctly and I have two datepickers on my page that appear to be functioning correctly and displaying the appropriate dates, but when I attempt to get the values (text) of the textboxestheyare always null even thought the correct dates show in the controls onthe page. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to include my code?
hope someone can help me out here I am trying to get the kevin luck datepicker (if you google, it's at the top off the list) too work I have made simple php test page the js sourcefiles are in the same folder as the page
I am using the calendar for a florist who offer delivery next day until 4pm so for example:
Say it's tuesday at 3pm, flowers can be delivered fine the next day (wednesday). However at 4.00pm on tuesday the flowers cannot be delivered the next day as it's too late so thursday would be the next delivery time.
I have a problem with jQ UI datepicker in IE6, it's positioned just fine, generate the image fine and shows the calendar perfect. But can't pick the date, nothing happens on click, the date isn't showed in input field nor highlighted on the calendar.
The code I'm using is: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#depart").datepicker({buttonImage: 'images/calendar.gif', buttonImageOnly: true, constrainInput: true, dateFormat: 'dd/mm/y', duration: 'fast', firstDay: 1, maxDate: '+5Y', minDate: '-0D', showButtonPanel: false, showOn: 'both'});
I am currently working on a data input website and have a form which is excel style in layout with 10 rows to input the same fields 10 times. I can get the datepicker in each field but when selected it only populates the first field. I know I must put some sort of value or something in the datepicker class but not sure how it works. Any help on this would be great I have attached the code below:
