View 3 RepliesI have a very strange issue which happens only on the Mac/Firefox 2 (and 3 I believe) : [URL] The top left logo (ball) is a simple flash 'spin' animation, that is activated using javascript via the navigation (onmouseover effect). This works fine on Windows - Firefox, IE and Mac - Safari. However on Mac/Firefox, the logo ball on page load simply DOES NOT APPEAR. However, when you simply SCROLL down or if you move your mouse over the navigation (which calls the flash), then the logo appears. Basically, it's really odd because the logo ball is there, but Mac/Firefox does not show it until you do something to the page, like scroll.

Taken right off a jQuery API page, inserting my own id names .The "#principles" is the id of a span of text just above a paragraph with an id of "p=principles".
This is a makeshift sort function for a table. I want to replace a div contents with a javascript function call. It works fine if I define the individual case, but the general case doesn't work. I have created a multiple upload function using Flash and JavaScript. I have checked it in all webbrowsers (including Safari) on my computer (windows) and it works fine! Bravo for me! However, I have asked a friend to check my upload function on her Mac, but for some reason it fails. I have no Mac to test ... but does anybody know why the application fails in Safari running on on Mac OS? I understand this is a difficult question without knowing the exact error, but why does it work in Safari on Windows, but not in Safari on a Mac. Is Mac using other standards/conventions for JavaScript or something like that?

But often, if I want to stop a hyperlink from working normally, I can
simply return false from whatever action I've attached to that
hyperlink. Suppose I have this link:

Because I return false, the default behavior doesn't occur. Would there
ever be a benefit to doing this instead:

Perhaps preventDefault is only for those occassions when the code can
not or should not return?

I'm using jquerytools overlay on a site and i cannot get the overlay (which pulls in content from a url) to center on the page. I simply cannot see why and my brain hurts. I've been trying different things for about a week now to no avail.The url of the site is (and the page in question) http://bruce.ourcollective.eu and the overlays are in the bottom right hand corner of the screen: Credits Contact and Copyright symbol.

I've got a form textarea on my site, which after being submitted is stripped by my php file.
Then my javascript kicks in and does some analysis of the entered text. However everytime the user entered a hard return within the textarea my javascript gives me an error 'tekenreeks niet afgesloten' which means something like 'string is not closed'.
Therefore I decided to replace all occurences of chr(10) and chr(13) with ok2 (just some random characters), I did this with php which worked fine, and I didn't get the javascript error.
However I need to reshow the entered text (original) to the user, so I need to restore the old values. I tried result.waarde.replace('ok2', 'chr(13)'); but it doesn't work, as it still displays ok2.
I'm no expert in javascript, but how can I replace those characters by the hard returns?
Oh yeah I'll show some more coding, perhaps the error can be found there code...
I've done some small adjustments to my clients site, but it won't show properly in IE (the shadowbox js at least.). I thought js was accepted in all newer browsers.why it doesn't work?I use mootools, and shadowbox/corners and rightclick blocker.Is it generally a 'bad thing' to use js in webpages I want everyone to view in the same way? I tried the same effects with CSS but it's not supported in the same way corss-browser, unfortunately. The 'no selection' CSS class I have on the site is also not accepted in IE.

I want to use the following code on my web page but, it doesn't work they way I want it to. Firts, I want the pop up window to close after a certain amount of time but, instead of the pop up closing, it closes the previous page (the main page).
Second, I want to add a close button to the pop up window but, it appears on the main page also.
