Using DOM in IE, how can I loop through FORMs and access FORM elements
in a specific form? For example, www.hotmail.com has about 13 forms.
I believe the one displayed is dependent on the URL. If I want to
access the submit button of the visible form, which is usually the last
one, how is that done?
Currently, I look for type=submit using DOM but it doesn't find
anything and only loops through the first FORM elements.

I am using MYSQL to store articles. I wanted to present the articles in order by id, then let the user choose one of them and send the id of the article to another php page for processing, using ajax. To do so i have placed a simple form in the articles. like so:
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM articles ORDER BY id DESC")
or die(mysql_error());
while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){
{code}....

I have a dynamic page of which I don't know how many forms will be on
it, neither which and how many elements will be in each form.
I use the following java script to disable all elements from all
forms:
var numberForms = document.forms.length;
var formIndex;
for (formIndex=0; formIndex<numberForms; formIndex++)
{
for(x=0;x<document.forms[formIndex].length;x++)
{ document.forms[formIndex].elements[x].disabled=true }
}
Now I want this to stay the same, except when an element is a
<textarea>. So basically: script must have the same functionallity
(disable all form elements), but not if the element is a textarea
(then it would remain enabled).
Is there a way to read out this <textarea> value in script ?

Normally I would just use document.getElementById to get anything I need but here is my problem:
I have a zip code control that I load using AJAX. it has city, state, country, county and zip code. This gets loaded within a business application and at one point you can have both a bill to and ship to address forms on the screen at the same time, loading my zip control with the same fields, same ids and same name. This forced me to now pass in the form name that contains the control.
I need to get to divs and spans within this form. Primarily as you type in a city or zip code, I am doing a hot search with a popup div that shows you results you can quickly choose from. The only time this becomes an issue is the situation I mentioned before when the zip code control is on the screen twice. I am not certain how to access the innerHTML of a span or div by way of the form name. Is this possible and if so what is the proper syntax?
Here is a very basic example at its simplest form of my problem.
<form name="frm_billto" id="frm_billto">
<span id="myspan">Hello</span>
</form>
<form name="frm_shipto" id="frm_shipto">
<span id="myspan">World</span>
</form>
In the above example because the control was loaded twice, I now have 2 spans with the same ID. I want the innerHTML of the each span based on the form they are in.
We wanted one control that we could use throughout the system that we could update in one place and the entire application be updated. Unfortunately we did not anticipate having it load more than once on the page.

I am creating a form to enable advertisers to create listings on an accommodation directory site.One of the form fields is a drop down with the following optionshotelguestHouseselfCateringinnholidayParkcampingThe top part of my form is the same for all these accommodation types. However I need to include a section specific to the accommodation type. This section will include groups of radio buttons and checkboxes allowing the advertiser to choose which facilities/amenities are available.For exampleA hotel may have 24 room service campsite may have a shop on siteI was planning to have a separate div for each of the accommodation specific sections and toggling the display based on the choice of the accommodation type from a drop down list.I have just had a horrible thought that it may be possible if javascript was not enabled that either none of the sections would be displayed or even worse all of them at once.

I have a form element that looks like this:
<input type="text" onchange=doSomething(this)>
and a function:
function doSomething(theField){
}
I know that within the function I can access properties of the field (e.g. theField.name and theField.value). But how do I access theField's index number in the form's elements[] array -- from the "this" reference that was passed to the function? I.E. if this field is elements[3], how can I get at that 3?

Ok so I have these elements on my page:
<input type="text" size="5" name="val[]" value="'.$NotaMaxima.'">
I want to loop through each one and take their number add it to another number set in a variable elsewhere and then alert that number.The amount of these elements on the page changes constantly, so I can't count on that. It has to loop through each one to find the values.I tried this:
var els,i,asig;
els=document.getElementsByTagName('val');
for(i in els) {[code]..........

I have a dynamicly generated form (well the elements are at least) that looks something like this:
while( not end of returned records):
<input name="plan_id[]" type="checkbox" id="" value="<?=
$row_plans->planid ?>">
<input name="num_of_pockets[<?= $row_plans->planid ?>]"
type="text" id="num_of_pockets[]" value="<?=
$row_plans->num_of_pockets ?>" size="5" >
endwhile;
Basically it loops thru the table and creates a row of fields in the form that use the array identifiers '[]' so that I can loop thru them with PHP when the page is submitted.
The key for each array element is the id of the row from the database. So checkbox[] (with value "1") and cost[1] are on the same line in the form. The next line may not necessarily have cost[2] in it, it may be cost[3] or [4], depending the id from the database.
Is there some way I can loop thru these form elements in javascript?

I have dynamically created divs. Their ids all start with 'info':
<div id="info1a"></div>
<div id="info1b"></div>
<div id="info2a"></div>
<div id="info123456"></div>
I need a function to loop through all those ids starting with 'info' to put the display property to 'none'.
Code:
document.getElementById(startWithInfo).style.display='none';
Is there any way I can do that withoput having to specify the full id for every div that starts with 'info'?

I have written the follow code. It is meant to (when finished) output a table showing each member of the array PEOPLE. There Income ,there Tax bracket and there finally there total tax paid.The calulations in the if-else statements are correct.I have to create a loop that will go through the if else statements equal to the amount of the people in the array (This is no problem I have done this earlier)
My problem is when I try to add each element (PEOPLE) to the table or there indivual tax outcomes.Can I create a loop and increment in the elements each iteration to put on the table?(for there names) As I am not meant to store each iteration,it is to write to the table each time.This is the code I'm working on with out the loop.

I know that it may be better to use the .each() function for this but I can't figure out how to iterate over elements that or not children or siblings of $(this). I have this code, and it works fine:
$('#button1').hover(function(){ $('#pres1').css('opacity',1.0).siblings().css('opacity', 0.0); });
$('#button2').hover(function(){
[Code].....
But that doesn't seem to work for some reason. I can't figure out why (still early days in JavaScript for me).

I have a ASP.NET gridview which is rendered as a HTML table. There are 2 columns in the grid. First column is a checkbox and second column is a input textbox in which the user will enter a amount. I want to be able to loop through the rows of the table using jquery to find out the rows that have a checked checkbox and then sum the value in the corresponding textbox in which the user will enter a amount. In other words how do I loop through the table and find out the elements on the same row on the table.
