Jul 18, 2010I'm learning javascript, and was wondering if it was Possible to have buttons/links that you click, the whole page fades out, and then fade's in, with different stuff. here are my ideas for just changing the stuff
Text: 1. having a javascript src file to start, and then when the button is clicked, that is formatted to white, the text layer is moved down, and a new javascript file is loaded?
Google Maps Adding A Second Google Map To A Page
Apr 7, 2011I'm not sure where I have translated this incorrectly. I have one google map embedded on my page which works fine. But I wanted to add a second one. I thought the easiest way to do this would be to have a second page which is called later on with all the details on it for the second map. However although I think (this I presume is where I went wrong) I have replicated the instructions correctly the place holder for the second map just remains blank.

What is the best way to fade in an image on a page load so that the image is visible if javascript is not supported and does not jump around all over the place if it is supported. What I have found is that I can make it work using either document ready or on window onload however the images all load first and the page goes all crazy for a few seconds before the script actually does what it is supposed to. What I do not want to do is hard code the css display as none for the image as a property as either an element style or in the css file. The reason being that if the script does not run... the image will never load.

When the user looks at the page there is just the images and no information, but when they hover over the image I would like some text and a bar underneath to show up over the top so the user can read some information.my images sit in "a" tags. There is also a div tag in there which has it's z-index and position (absolute) set up so that it sits over the top of the image element in the "a" tag. stripped down e.g.

I need the div tag withinin the "a" tag to be set to 0 opacity. When the user hovers over the image the div tag slowly fades in to 100% opacity. Once the user moves the mouse away from the image the div tag slowly disappears again.I need each one to work independently so that it only changes the one currently being hovered over.

Feb 15, 2010I'm having problems with my text appearing aliased and turning blue when it fades in and out. I've tried using the Newsticker plugin and the Easyticker plugin, and I'm getting the same result in IE7 and Firefox 3.6. I'm using jQuery 1.2.6-min Specifying a background color doesn't fix it. The examples on the plugin websites look fine, but when I try and implement the effect myself, my orange text becomes aliased and fades to a light blue color before dipping to white. Same thing happens on the fade in. attached is a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

Mar 9, 2011I have a site where the header, footer, menu and Google map remain present on most pages,but the copy in the main paragraph changes depending on which menu option is selected.The above is achieved using PHP includes and query strings.I'm using jQuery to 'fade in' the main body text when a page loads, and 'fade out' the text when a menu link is clicked on. It just looks nice, because all the stuff that is always present stays in place (I guess the browser caches it?) and just the main body text fades out and the new fades in.The thing is, the 'fade out' that is triggered by the 'click' event (on the menu link) tends to be interrupted by the browser moving on to the new page. I just want to the browser to stay for half a second so that the nice fade finishes properly.
