Place A Javascript Menu Inside A Cell Of A Table.
Jul 23, 2005I´m trying to place a javascript navigation menu inside a cell of
a table in my page, the problem is that the constructor of the menu
object has parameters for menu positioning and size and when the
window is rezised the menu stands at the same position and with the
same size.
My question is: is there a way to modify those parameters
dinamically to match window size, and how is that made, or is there
another way to include that menu using a table for page layout.

When the span is empty I want to hide it, and I've used this jquery to do this.
However, the ui-widget-header class appears to be stopping it from hiding - if I remove this class it hides fine.

I want to do something similiar on my forums, and siplay some small menu for each thread and post. Now what I need is way to do it in table cell.

Hiding A Div If A Variable Is Empty ?
Sep 30, 2009I'm using a Javascript gallery (runs on Prototype library) that populates a caption field if the user has entered a caption for an image.
I need a little bit of code to hide the caption's div entirely if the user hasn't entered a caption for a particular image (var 'caption' is empty).
It's the bottom-right white box below the image, you'll have to click over to the second page of the gallery (NEXT) to see an example of an empty one that I want to hide:

I'm sure this isn't that hard, but I've spent more time trying to get that caption box to hide than setting up the gallery.

Feb 4, 2010I have a contact info form with about 16 fields. I need to hide a subset of fields for address when the end user either (1) tabs out of the subset group, (2) clicks anywhere outside the subset field group.
I do not want to hide the fields when the end-user is tabbing within the subset of address fields, yet the focusout handler is triggered when it shouldn't be.

Usually triggered by a mouse click but something I am trouble with is how to get the table to a state with no rows or columns just like it has no contents. do believe I can use this codedocument.getElementById('results').tBodies[0];but I am kind of clueless where to find a complete DOM reference or a manual and don't know the attributes or properties I must use to empty (if it is even possible) a previously created table.

I have a 2-column table with titles in the left column and want the right column to be populated by a user. If the user doesn't populate the right cells or row, I'd like that row -including the constant/visible text that is in the left col- to be hidden and that row to collapse or move up... possible?

Oct 27, 2009I have googled until my fingers bled and can't get a working answer to what I expected to be a fairly simple, common problem (but I guess not): I need to get the text value from row 5, column 3 of a table.
The user isn't clicking on the cell or the row or the table or anything like that. The table is dynamically built from the server side and I can't assign an id to either the row(s) or the cell(s), but I do have a table id and a table body id. How do you retrieve text given a specific row and column index?

Everything works fine and dandy, however, now that I've come up to the last element, I need to extract text from a table on a website.Basically what I want to do is find the balance, in this case '$17.28' from 'results_table', and have that stored in a variable. I've looked around on google with no real luck.

Jan 22, 2010I have a need to use jquery to insert a row into a table (individual cells within row include images, input box, radio buttons; each with their own attributes). So far i've only been able to append rows to existing rows, or clone an existing row. Is it possible to insert a new row? The table html is already present. I have searched high and low for examples of this to no avail. Here is what the empty table looks like:

Hiding Table Rows
Mar 11, 2006I'm getting an error in displayDirectors() on the line shown. What I
want to do is hide the rows in the table where rs_Board("DirStatus") =
"Retired" with hideDirectors() and show all records with
showDirectors(). What I did was create a column with a checkbox which
is not visible to the user and check this box when
rs_Board("DirStatus") = "Retired" and leave it unchecked when it
doesn't. There's probably a better way of doing this. I also want the
text in <span id="DirectorsCaption"> to change with each function but
I'm pretty sure this will work when the other error is debugged. Code:

How To Highlight Table Cell On MouseDown?

only text). They work fine, but I would like to give the user some
visual feedback to indicate that a cell has been clicked. I'd like
this feedback to be the usual highlight on mouseDown, un-highlight
on mouseUp, but I can't figure out how to do it.
