what i want to do is mimic the arrow up and down keys when i click on a button. is that possible using javascript?

Sep 1, 2007Is there any cross-browser method of determining whether a click event was triggered by a mouse left click or the keyboard's 'enter' key? I was expecting event.button, or event.which to be able to do this, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Checking event.clientX == 0 && event.clientY == 0 works in FF, but not in IE.

Apr 8, 2010Ive scoured the internet for scripts that make a <div> follow the mouse, and have found one that seems to work well. However, I want the <div> to stop moving when the CTRL or the SHIFT key is pressed, I dont care which. Hopefully, I can have a div that follows the mouse at an offset that contains some click-able items, so a menu is always by your mouse. Ive tried now more than a few times to put together a piece of code that can achieve this, but none have worked. Can somebody write a script that can achieve this, or point me in the right direction?Current JS for mouse follow:

I thought that I've to do something like this:

Jul 17, 2010Is it possible to trigger mouse events with shapes drawn in an HTML5 canvas? I want to create a page with drawn elements that you can mouseover and pop up a dialogue box. I also want the shapes to react with some type of feedback. I'm hoping I can do this with javascript instead of Flash but haven't found a way to do it that's simple enough to make it worth it.

Sep 11, 2011I want to bind a click event to a selector which when clicked will open up a given part within an accordion. In the example below I want a link with an id of show-part1 to open up the first section of an accordion. My accordion has four sections. Consequently there are four 'accordion_trigger_index' classes with an index value from 0 to 3.
The code below triggers but it just kicks me to the top of the page and then back again, as if the $('.accordion_trigger_index').click(function(){}); is firing albeit not interpreting the index value.
The accordion works fine when clicked on directly. The error must concerning forced a click event while passing the index of which accordion_trigger_index class I want it to trigger (open).

May 14, 2010I'm creating a clickable <DIV> that calls the "resizeVideo" function.

This works great, and clicking the button repeatedly calls resizeVideo. resizeVideo looks at the ID of the item that called it (video1FullSize) to determine which video should be resized (video1).Now, I want to add some logic to also call this event when the window is resized. Before getting too involved in the issues surrounding how often the resize event is called on a window, I'm trying to simply "click" #video1FullSize to simulate the event.
