Dynamically Created Radio Buttons
Jul 23, 2005
I create a table containing radiobuttons in client script depending on
what choices the user makes.
It works fine the radio buttons appear *but* they are *not clickable*.
Why? Is there a solution? I'm using IE 6.0 Code:

I create buttons from an array of objects that such as:
buttons = [{ text: "button 1", action: 1}, {text: "button 2", action: 2}];
I then loop thru the array to assign the text and bind the click event after having created the buttons with IDs of "button_<index>".
for( var index in buttons ) {
$("#button_"+index).html ( buttons[index].text )
.click( function() { clickButton( buttons[index].action ) } );
}
The text appears correctly in the button, but every button defined only fires the list bound click, in this example the action equal to'2'whether I push "Button 1" or "Button 2".My actual case has four buttons, all firing the event for the fourth button.I've tried not chaining the .click(), going thru the loop twice once for the .html and once for the .click, neither of which made a difference. If I hard code each button .click, it works fine.

Below I have dynamical generated radio buttons, the names($approve variable is the name) per radio button pairs are different(dynamically created names using looping). When I create two buttons, one is for if you click it, all the radio button with the label approve will be selected all, and the other button is for the disapprove label button that will select the radio button with the label disapprove.
Code:
<script>
function selectAll()
{

I have a little checkbox that when checked is suppose to "check" a number of radio buttons.
Problem is I get a js error ("Object doesn't support this property or method") when I click the checkbox that calls my check all function.
HTML Code:
<tr bgcolor="#eeeeee" class="form_header">
<td align="center" valign="middle">Database</td>
<td align="center" valign="middle">Primary <input type="checkbox" name="checkPrimaryAll" onClick="checkPrimaryAll();" style="background-color: #EEEEEE;"></td> <--- This is the line in error
<td align="center" valign="middle">Backup <input type="checkbox" name="checkBackupAll" onClick="checkBackupAll();" style="background-color: #EEEEEE;"></td>
<td align="center" valign="middle">Remove <input type="checkbox" name="checkall" onClick="checkAll();" style="background-color: #EEEEEE;"></td>
<td align="center" valign="middle">Current DBA(s)</td>
</tr>
...
<script type="text/javascript">
function enableDisable(objectNme, myId)
{
var remCheck = document.getElementById(myId);
if(remCheck.checked == true)
{
eval("document.forms[0]." + objectNme + "[0].disabled = true;");
eval("document.forms[0]." + objectNme + "[1].disabled = true;");
}
else if(remCheck.checked == false)
{
eval("document.forms[0]." + objectNme + "[0].disabled = false;");
eval("document.forms[0]." + objectNme + "[1].disabled = false;");
}
else
{
alert("Error");
}
}
function checkAll()
{
var lng = document.AssociateDBAForm.remove_dba.length;
var select_all = document.AssociateDBAForm.checkall.checked;
var myForm = document.AssociateDBAForm;
var value;
for(var i = 0; i < lng; i++)
{
if(select_all == true)
{
myForm.remove_dba[i].checked = true;
myForm.checkall.title = "Unselect all rows";
value = myForm.remove_dba[i].value;
value = "ADD_" + value;
eval("myForm." + value + "[0].disabled = true;");
eval("myForm." + value + "[1].disabled = true;");
}
else if(select_all == false)
{
myForm.remove_dba[i].checked = false;
myForm.checkall.title = "Select all rows";
value = myForm.remove_dba[i].value;
value = "ADD_" + value;
eval("myForm." + value + "[0].disabled = false;");
eval("myForm." + value + "[1].disabled = false;");
}
}
}
function checkPrimaryAll() <--- This is the function it calls
{
var myForm = document.AssociateDBAForm;
alert("myForm " + myForm);
var lng = myForm.elements.length;
alert("lng " + lng);
var select_all = myForm.checkPrimaryAll.checked;
alert("select_all " + select_all);
for(var i = 0; i < lng; i++)
{
if(select_all == true)
{
myForm.checkPrimaryAll.checked = true;
myForm.checkPrimaryAll.title = "Unselect all rows";
thisElement = myForm.elements[i];
if(thisElement.name.substring(0, 4).equals("ADD_"))
{
thisElement[0].checked = false;
}
}
else if(select_all == false)
{
myForm.checkPrimaryAll.checked = false;
myForm.checkPrimaryAll.title = "Select all rows";
thisElement = myForm.elements[i];
if(thisElement.name.substring(0, 4).equals("ADD_"))
{
thisElement[0].checked = true;
}
}
}
}
</script>
As you can see I tried putting in alerts to try to debug, but it never hits them, even if it's the first line in the function.

I'm trying to create a questionnaire style series of radio buttons which are hidden and then a different set of radio buttons displayed depending on the previous answer. eg
Q1 Is it a man? (if select yes then display)
Q2 Is he called John? (if no then display)
Q3 Is he called Gary? and so on...
I've been testing using the code below but wondered if anyone had any ideas on how this could be done easily?

I'm trying to get a radio button validation for different sets of radio buttons that simply contains Yes & No buttons.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
Question 1: if Yes, then (Alert 1) if No, then (Alert 2) (if Yes, then Question 2 appears) *Up to here I'm happy- can't figure out the rest*
Question 2: if Yes, then (Alert 1) if No, then (Alert 2) (if Yes, then Question 3 appears)
I need the Alerts to be swapped from this point*
Question 3: if Yes, then (Alert 2) if No, then (Alert 1) (if NO, then Question 4 appears)
Identical for Question 5, and for Last Question 6 Alerts swapped back again.)
Here's the script that I managed to piece together:

I have a set of radio buttons each with an onclick event that has a numeric value. When the button is clicked an input box called "Total" is updated with the new value. The problem I'm having is that if a radio button is checked and one clicks on it again then the onclick event is triggered.
Is there any way to prevent the onclick event from triggering if the radio button is already checked?

I have 3 radio buttons with the same name ("myradio"). The value of each is a different URL (eg. value="http:[url]...)I have a link underneath these (<a href="#">Send</a>). I would like the selected radio button's value to be inserted into the href of the link, and if the user selects a different radio button that this changes.

I want my radio buttons to become submit buttons as well. So when a user clicks on a radio button it submits the action and refreshes the page accordingly. As of now using only using onclick="this.form.submit()" the page only refreshes with no change. Here is a copy of the entire form. It is a custom shipping options form (I did not create it).
<!-- Custom shipping form -->
<form action="" method="post" name="update_shipping">
<table width="300">
<tr>
<td><label>
<input <?php if (!(strcmp($_SESSION['shippingmethod'],"1"))) {echo "checked="checked"";} ?>

If I do this:
el = document.createElement("iframe");
el.src = "test.htm";
el.name = "frm"; // or el.setAttribute("name","frm");
document.body.appendChild(el);
the iframe gets created but the 'name' attribute is not added under IE
6. I tried setting the 'name' after appending the iframe but still no joy.
How can I add a 'name' attribute to an iframe so that IE 6 sees it?

I add a new row to a table using something like this:
[Code]...
So if I add 1 rows, I get 2 text boxes with the ID of 1-medication as I already have a row in place (static) This works fine. However when I try to get the value of 1-medication, I thought I'd get something like value1,value2 but instead I just get value1 If I change the function above to putput a text box with ID of 2-medication, I can get the value of that by itself just fine. why if I have more than 1 item with the same ID, I can't concatenate each value?

There seems to be some strange behaviour when trying to get the
scrollHeight and scrollTop of an iframe in IE6.
I have tried several ways of getting these values when the iframe is
written into the html. The following return the correct values in IE6,
where the iframe's id is 'f':
f.document.body.scrollHeight
f.document.body.scrollTop
window.frames['f'].document.body.scrollHeight
window.frames['f'].document.body.scrollTop
document.frames('f').document.body.scrollHeight
document.frames('f').document.body.scrollTop
The following give a strange value for scrollHeight (definitely not
the length of the contents of the iframe) and scrollTop is always 0:
document.getElementById('f').document.body.scrollH eight
document.getElementById('f').document.body.scrollT op
document.all.f.document.body.scrollHeight
document.all.f.document.body.scrollTop
When I dynamically create the iframe, using myFrame =
document.createElement('IFRAME'), I get the same strange values as
above when I do this:
myFrame.document.body.scrollHeight
myFrame.document.body.scrollTop
However this works as correctly in Opera 7. I find this all very
confusing. Can anybody shed light onto how I might get the correct
values in IE6 when using the createElement() method?

I want to give the user the abillity to add extra fields as needed.
I've got it working in IE (surprsingly this works in IE but not in
Firefox), however, basically I have an input field for a paragraph. If
the user decides they want two paragraps then they can click an image
and a new textarea field is show that allows them to add another
paragraph. The fields are named as an array for example name="para[0]"
the next one would then be name="para[1]". Firefox creates the field
and shows it to the user however when you submit the form the new field
does not come through. My array of paragraphs consists only of the
original number I started with. Any added by the javascript are lost.
Again IE this works fine, Firefox it works till you submit the form.
Any ideas?
