The code I am working on uses the idea of detecting mime type support, to see if the add-on is there. Then if the mime type is not supported, it assumes, the add-on is not installed. (No other add-ons have this mime type.)However, there is a problem, if someone disables the add-on, the there is no mime type handler in navigator.mimeTypes['the/MimeType'].Is there some way to detect if an add-on is installed, and also if the add-on is enabled?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know the best way to detect and track a visitors screen resolution. I know the javascript to detect the users resolution but I am a bit confused on the best way to track and save this. Should I save it to a database or is it easier to save it to a text file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a popunder script that will work for both IE8 and FF3 (as they dominate now). Of course, any other browser is welcome Note: I've also tested the flash but I've excluded it from the start, since the flash player is enabled by default to block them. Also, DHTML is excluded, because the page that will contain the popunder will load itself in a small frame and the popunder's content will display, this way, only in that small frame window (as far as I've tried). I'm really tired of searching and testing; if you know of any working popunder code

I've started testing on Win XP SP2 and it now has something called local machine lockdown activated by default. It means that active content,
such as JavaScript, is prevented from running.
I thought that the solution was simply - to enable the testing of files locally - to just add what M$ calls the "mark of the web". So I added
this line to the tops of my HTML pages:
<!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet -->
However, the local links in the files, such as to external JavaScript files, do not work because (I believe) the HTML files are now treated as an internet zone and not a local zone file.
Without deactivating the lockdown is there a way to get a bunch of inter-linked files to work locally, or is it just my lack of understanding of what's going on that's at fault?
suppose that a web page has a mark "M". For example,when a user open the web page If the mark "M" is printed in the position of height 300px from the top of the browser and width 500px from the left of the browser, I like to get the height value 300px and width value 500px. Let's call them X position and Y position.Can I get the X position and Y position of the mark "M" in javascript just after the mark "M" is printed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCan Javascript be used to detect a certain url and then "not" write some html according to that url and also detect something on the page and "then" display some html?.
Example: I'm working on a volusion site that uses asp. There's basically only one page that's changed dynamically. I would like to display some html when and only if the cart has any items in it. But also not to show up on the check-out pages.
The page dynamically displays "Your cart has 1 item in it..." when the visitors puts something in their cart.
So could javascript detect when this is displayed then write some html and then also detect if the url is showing the cart and then not show the html?

I have a page which can be found in google which is nice. But people can find a lot of sub-pages as well which is nice from a PR point of view. Nevertheless I don't want people to jump in the middle. I want them all to start on index.hmtl and nowhere else. So is it possible to have all visitors who click on a search result for example in google to be redirected to index.html ? Maybe referrer based redirect?
