Countdown Script Working In FF0 Rendering NaN For Values In IE7 - Chrome

Feb 20, 2009

I'm attempting to incorporate a countdown script I located here. The only editing of the script that I have performed has to do with the output html written to the page. This seems to be working fine in FF3 but not in any of the other major browsers. The clock is returning NaN for all of the dynamically writting #'s.

I have an example here. I have tried via reduction to get the clock working and have had some success here with this trouble shooting technique. However, Chrome and Safari still spit out NaN for all the clock digits. The test template has the JS embeded in it's head rather than linking to the script and an now hard coding the end date rather than passing a php variable to make the clock dynamic. But beyond this I'm not sure where these conflicts are coming from.

IE8 / Firefox Not Rendering An Iframe Like Chrome And Safari Does - Fix It?

Mar 14, 2011

The following link when viewed with Chrome (Windows XP) the contents of the iframe take up the remainder of the window and looks fine. When viewed with IE8 (Windows XP) or Firefox (Windows XP) the contents of the iframe shows up in a much smaller scroll box window that is only using a small percentage of the available window.

Safari (Mac OSX) also renders the iframe the same way as Chrome.

Firefox (Max OSX) has the same rendering problem as Firefox (XP).

What coding changes do I need to make so that IE8 and Firefox act like Chrome and Safari and use the rest of the window for the iframe contents.

DHTML Events Not Working In IE But Working In Firefox And Chrome?

May 10, 2010

I am working on a Javascript application and i am facing a strange behavior of the application in IE. I am creating a table at runtime using DHTML and registering event for the table row click. When i deploy this application on web server and browse the application, the events fires in firefox and chrome but in IE the events are not fired. If i browse the application from the server with localhost, the application triggers the events and fails when i use machine name.

Advanced Countdown Timer - When User Refreshes Page - Countdown Starts From 5 Minutes Again

Aug 7, 2010

I found the below script that works fine for the actual countdown, but when the user refreshes the page, the countdown starts from 5 minutes again.

What I am trying to do, is handle users that put something in their shopping cart and then get side tracked or what ever reason and that same product then being purchased by another person when I only have 1 left.

So using PHP I am going to subtract the qty of that product by 1 and then I want the website to either put it back, if the users checkout times out, or if a normal process it is taken out permanently.

So long story short I think I need some sort of 'memory' for the javascript, so the user can't just keep refreshing and it starting from 5 minutes each time. Also it needs to be carried through to other pages.

Countdown Script - Countdown Jumps Back Up To Accommodate Tomorrow's Deadline?

Nov 15, 2010

I'm really struggling to write a bit of JS that displays the amount of time left to when your order will be shipped.For Example: If it's

1:05pm on Sunday, it would say: "Place your order within the next 1 day 2 hours 55 minutes and your order will ship Monday"

Another example: If it's 2:00pm on Saturday, it would say: "Place your order within the next 2 hours and your order will ship today"

I need to be able to change the cut off point from 4pm if needed...It must also ignore bank holiday (Ideally, it would have a section in the code where I could put all 'excluded' dates, e.g. 12/25/2009, 01/01/2010, etc. - This way I could keep it up to date).The code must take into account that we only deliver Monday to Friday (Therefore on a Friday after 4pm, it would not say delivery tomorrow, but Monday).Once the deadline hits (4pm), the countdown jumps back up to accommodate tomorrow's deadline, etc.Amazon does a very similar thing,

JQuery :: Countdown Plugin: Restart Countdown Timer Every 24 Hours?

May 27, 2011

Im putting together a pair of countdown timers that need to restart every 24 hours. One restarts at noon and the other at midnight. Im using Keith Woods plugin @ [URL]

So far I have been able to implement his serverTime function to sync to the servers clock and instantiated 2 countdown timers. so far so good.

What I need to do now is 2 things:

1. I need to define today + X hours to countdown to instead of setting a exact date like in this example:

var noonCountDown = new Date();
noonCountDown = new Date(noonCountDown.getFullYear() + 0, 5 - 1, 28, -12);// 2011, May, 28, 12pm

2. Once today is defined dynamically I believe that may just solve the problem and reset the timer. But I may not be thinking clearly here. So I guess Im just wondering if this is how you would go about making the countdown restart upon completion.

Here is my code that Ive got so far:

$(function () {
function serverTime() {
var time = null;
$.ajax({url: 'http://www.localhost.com/projects/countdown/servertime.php',

JQuery :: .submit() Passing No Values In Chrome When Method Is Post

Feb 5, 2010

I have tried to search for the answer to this, but came up empty. I am writing a form checker (and submit) in jQuery, and am testing with Chrome. Once I do my validation, if all is ok, I simply submit the form using...

$("form#courseForm").submit();
and here is my form tag.
<form name="courseForm" id="courseForm" action="courseDetail.asp" method="post">

In IE it works fine with either POST or GET methods in the form tag, but in Chrome it will only work with GET.When I try to use POST, the form does submit, but I don't get any data sent to the page at all. The only thing I am doing different than usual, is the form does not have a submit button. I am using a "button" tag and using jQuery to capture the click event. <button type='button' name='courseSubmit' class='blueButton'>Save Changes</button> why the POST isn't sending the data in Chrome? Simple workaround is to change it to a GET and it will always work, but I see that as a bandaid fix, and not really a solution to the problem.

Passing Server Time - Countdown Timer That Currently Uses The Client's System Time To Calculate The Countdown

Feb 4, 2011

I'm using a javascript-based countdown timer that currently uses the client's system time to calculate the countdown. I assume that this line of code is where this is performed:

Code:

I'm trying to make the script use server time instead as some people may have wrong dates/times set or live in different time zones etc.

So what I did was use a bit of php:

PHP Code:

This gives a result but now the countdown is 30 days off. I am testing on my local xampp server (which also uses system time) so there should be no discrepancy. I also tried adding

Code:

But no difference.

I can post the whole script if required but it is reasonably long.

JQuery :: Load() Not Working With Chrome 12

Jul 19, 2011

I just discovered Jquery just yesterday... I was looking for another way to display a website menu (simple HTML with javascript code) instead of an iframe. I found an amazing solution using Jquery on a Yahoo! answer page.

I have no idea what's wrong because the "external HTML file" simply do not appear in Chrome 12... Nothing!

I'm sure this is not a HTML coding error issue because my code complies HTML 5 (I used the W3C Markup Validation Service ) AND everything(display and behavior)works extremely fine on Explorer 9, Safari 5 and Firefox 4.

My "main HTML file" only contains a fixed background image... and will be the template for all page of my site for specific content.

My"external HTML file" (the site's menu) only contains a 3 rows table (for positionning) and an unordonned link list with onmouseover and onmouseout javascript calls.

The javascript code is stored in an external .js file.

The css code is stored in an external .css file.

I use thecurrent minified version ofJquery.

All these files are in the same local folder.

Here is the code I use to call the "external HTML file" (I removed the unnecessary things from the Yahoo solution) :

By the way, is the ending ); useful ?

I do not understand the "current - 1 version" showed on yourcompatibility pagefor Chrome.

Does it mean current "minus" one version ?

I could perform a javascript browser detection and if the browser is Chrome... Show an Iframe.

JS Fading Gallery Not Working In Chrome?

Oct 11, 2011

I have written the below script to swap images in a main viewer for a gallery on a website (I apologise if the script is not very elegant I have only just started learning JS).The idea is there are 2 divs one positioned on top of the other, when the user clicks on one of the thumbnail images the div on the bottom changes to the new image, then the top div fades to transparent to reveal the new image, then once the top div is completely transparent it's image is swapped for the new image and it is made opaque again.Anyway elegant or not the script works fine in Firefox, Safari, Camino and (shockingly) IE, but it doesn't work at all in Chrome.

var fadeTime = 800;
var newImage;
