Alternative For InsertRow And InsertCell, Which Is Not Working In Firefox

Jan 17, 2007

I have a problem with FireFox. I have written a function to Add rows without submiting the form. This function works fine in IE, but not in FireFox.
The function is :

function createRows(deviceId,deviceType,modelName,ipAddress,macAddress,imageURL)
{
oTable=document.getElementById("tab:tabForm: oTable");

var oRow1=oTable.insertRow(oTable.rows.length);
var aRows=oTable.rows;
var aCells=oRow1.cells;
var oCell1_1=aRows(oRow1.rowIndex).insertCell(aCells.length);
var oCell1_2=aRows(oRow1.rowIndex).insertCell(aCells.length);
var oCell1_3=aRows(oRow1.rowIndex).insertCell(aCells.length);
var oCell1_4=aRows(oRow1.rowIndex).insertCell(aCells.length);
var oCell1_5=aRows(oRow1.rowIndex).insertCell(aCells.length);
var oCell1_6=aRows(oRow1.rowIndex).insertCell(aCells.length);

oCell1_1.innerHTML="<input>";
oCell1_2.innerHTML="";
oCell1_3.innerHTML="<font>"+modelName+"</font>";
oCell1_4.innerHTML="<font>"+ipAddress+"</font>";
oCell1_5.innerHTML="<font>"+macAddress+"</font>";
oCell1_6.innerHTML="<input>";
}

Can anyone please tell me what's the feature that is not supported in Firefox that makes this function not work in the same.

Alternative To Html Element Onload?

Apr 27, 2011

I have a text box that gets its name, id, and value from a SQL query.

[Code]...

My problem is that when the page loads with the values from the SQL query, I want all of the text boxes to run their upperCase function to change their respective background colors and I cannot figure out how to do this when the correct responses and initial text box values are set from the SQL query.

I thought I was genius when I put the onload event in there (which obviously doesnt work with an input element).

JQuery :: Alternative To Each Function In Middle Of Chain With One Element

Dec 3, 2011

An example:
tabContent.css('width', '0')
.css('opacity', '0')
.filter(':eq(0)')
.css('opacity', '1')
.parent()
.find('.one-tab')
.addClass('active')
.css('cursor', 'default');

Now I want to apply the parent of tabContent a width, only if a condition is true. I do this, and works, but I don't consider this is a proper way:
tabContent.css('width', '0')
.css('opacity', '0')
.filter(':eq(0)')
.css('opacity', '1')
.parent()
.each(function() {
if (/*condition is true*/) {
$(this).width(aWidth + 'px');
}
$(this).find('.one-tab')
.addClass('active')
.css('cursor', 'default');
});
Is there a better way instead of using each() which is actually made for loops? In this case there is only one element.

Image Map Not Working In Firefox Without Name Attribute

Nov 26, 2010

I am working on an Image Map project, the project must be written under xhtml 1.1 and must validate. The problem is Firefox and Safari will not support the image map without the name attribute, internet explorer does. If I add a name attribute to the image map, the code will not validate under xhtml 1.1. Is there any way to have this work without the name attribute in FF and Safari? The inline styles will be remove later and I would also like to replace the variables with an array but for now the focus is on getting this to work in FF without the name attribute. I can just change the doctype to transitional but we have to use xhtml1.1.

Here is the code:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
var koalaMouth = "This is my left ear!";
var koalaLeftEye = "This is my left eye!";
var koalaNose = "That is my nose!";
var koalaMouth = "That is my mouth!";
var koalaRightEye = "And that is my right eye!";
function writetext(message){
document.getElementById('displayText').innerHTML=''+message+'';
}function defaultText(){ .....

Set The Attribute For An Image Element?

Sep 23, 2010

I am trying to set the attribute for an image element.

If i run the following:

Code:

var imgMain = document.getElementById('<%=defaultImage.ClientID%>');
imgMain.setAttribute("data-zoomsrc", "tttt"); //not outputting
imgMain.src = url; //works

The url section works fine. If i check the source code, the attribute data-zoomsrc is never displayed. However, if i write it out in the javascript, i get the value i am after:

Code:
document.write(imgMain.getAttribute("data-zoomsrc"));
document.end

It's almost as though it's just never written to the browser.

Jquery :: Changing Embed Src Attribute Works In Firefox, Not Safari?

Nov 20, 2010

1) When clicking on a list in an accordion, it should change the quicktime movie playing in a main window area. It works in firefox but not in safari. The variable imgTitle holds the expected output (e.g. '../images/Intro-1.mov'). It changes the src attribute of the embed tag. This change works in Firefox where the new movie plays on click. However, when clicking the list item in safari, nothing happens.

2) There is a problem in firefox as well in that the movie overlays everything else on page, even though it should be behind the text. Positioning would be tedious given that there's many nested elements and I would have to set relative positioning to the entire page.

$(".image_thumb ul li ul li").click(function(){
var imgTitle = $(this).find('a').attr("href");
var imgDesc = $(this).find('.block').html();[code].....

JQuery :: Get An Attribute From A Selected Element?

Jun 3, 2011

What I’m trying to accomplish is set an attribute called opacityin any element with a specified value that can be used to toggle whenever the user hovers over the element. The code below works perfectly but one other thing I would like to be able to do is retrieve the attribute opacity after the document loads and fade the element to that value instead of hard coding the ".66". This is probably fairly easy I've just never ran into a situation where I needed to do this.[code]...

JQuery :: How To Add Attribute Like Mouseover To Element

Feb 16, 2011

I quite like the fact that you may add through JQuery an attribute like alt or title to an element. And I can see that you may also add mouseover using:
$('#aa').mouseover(function(){//does something in here});
However, I want to be able to pass some very specific values too and that's where I'm stuck for an answer. Suppose I want to attach the following:
mouseover="hm(this,'la1',5)"attribute to an <a> tag.
How do I do this by using exactly those values inside the "hm(this,'la1',5)" ?

JQuery :: Change An Attribute Of An Element?

Jun 24, 2010

I am trying to change an attribute of an element but can't figure out what the selector is to select it.

the page code is like this

<div class="slideshow" id="slideshow"><span class="image-wrapper current" style="opacity: 1;"><a title="" href="#2" rel="history" class="advance-link"> <img alt="" src="images/samples/1.jpg"></a></span></div>

I want to add a top css attribute to the img tag.

I tried many things such as

$('.advance-link:first')
$('.advance-link:firstChild')

but none seem to be working. The img gets generated by another script so I can't add an id or class to it. I figured an expert at selectors would be able to explain how to select it.

JQuery :: Getting Value Attribute Of Input Element ?

I have a table with several columns containing input elements populated from a database, e.g.,

On every row, I need to perform a calculation using the value of several input fields. So I tried to access the value of the first input field like so (which had worked in another function):

But for some reason it's returning a 0, and the line below also doesn't work:

But this returns the correct class, so I know it's finding the element:

And if I assign the input element an id, say "count," this works:

Obviously I don't want to fuss with individual id's to get the values. How to understand why the first two examples don't work, and how to fix them?

Wrap Attribute Of The <textarea> Element

Apr 7, 2011

I just have a question regarding the wrap attribute of the <textarea> element. I am using Programmer's Notepad. I am doing an example using the split() method in JavaScript. On the <textarea> element, it has specified that I use the 'wrap' attribute, yet when I enter this code, my attribute highlights red (which usually means that you have made a spelling mistake with the element/attribute). Now, obviously I know I haven't spelt wrap wrong and it certainly tells me in this book that you can use this attribute, so is this attribute deprecated?

If there's not something already out there, I'll probably have a hack at some existing favelets I have on my site, but no harm in asking if one's out there already, eh?

JQuery :: JQM ScrollView With Device Orientation Change

Sep 6, 2011

I'm making an HTML5 web app which can use on both android and iOS devices. Here I want to use a scrollview with y direction paging and "data-scroll = yp" work for me. But here I'm experiencing an issue with device orientation change.So inportrait mode when we seeing 2nd page, scrollview offset is -768 and it is ok. But here if we rotate the device to landscape mode, then to see the complete page scrollview offset should be -1024. But still it is remaining in -768. So we have to give some touch movement to jump it to correct position.Actually this is a huge bug for scrollview and I tried a lot to fixed this. I bind a method with orientation change in scrollview widget and that method can not access other properties in the widget.
