Validation Code For Form To File Web Form

Sep 3, 2009

I have created my second Form to File Web Form but basically I took my First Web Form coding (with the Java Script) and manipulated it so that it suited my needs for my 2nd Form (both are very close to being the same).For some reason, I can't get my Java Script validation to take effect. I was wondering if some one could try to pin point why it isn't functioning properly? Again it could be the most obvious thing, but please bear with me as I learn.Just for a little more clarity, I am going to list the things that I have changed to possibly make it easier to pin point:[code]

Ajax :: Client Side Form Validation - Form Won't Submit

Feb 13, 2011

I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc. My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's). The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes.

I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return.

JQuery :: New Take On Form Validation, Code Review And Feedback?

Jun 2, 2009

I feel a bit guilty for posting this here as it may be considered as spam, so if you do think that please ignore/delete. For the last couple of days I've been working on a form validation plugin and I've taken a completely different approach (I think, that is) from what already exists. The result is a plugin with less than 300 lines of code that does absolutely no form validation at all. WTF you may very well ask, and I explain: the core of the plugin basically assigns/save 'rules' and callbacks on an object. One way to save/create a rule is when extending the plugin, i.e. adding validation rules, onerror/onsucces callbacks and the like. Another is

JQuery :: Form Validation Combined With Ajax

Apr 12, 2011

I'm trying to make a username form validation combined with ajax but I'm stuck at 1 point. I need to use a var that is outside of my $.get() function so that I can add the function to the validate plugin.

This is what I have:

As you can see, I'm trying to change the value of "var result" to true, but since that is outside of my $.get() it doesn't seem to happen. I tried to put the return command inside the $.get function, but then my validator always keep saying it's a false check.

Is there anyway I can call that var inside my $.get function?

Ajax :: Form Field Validation Using PHP, And MySQL?

Nov 25, 2011

Ajax and jQuery is something I'm new to, but PHP, Javascript, and MySQL I'm pretty well seasoned with.For starters, I want to create a simple form where there are these fields:Name (text field)E-mail (text feld)Zip Code (text field)Cell Phone Number (text field)Phone Carrier (dropdown menu)Thing is, I want to check the database to see if an e-mail address has already been entered. I'd like for that to happen after they enter the email address and tab or click out of the e-mail text field. For instance, after they enter an e-mail address and tab to the Zip Code field, the script queries the database to see if that e-mail exists already. If it does, it notifies the user and greys out the submit button. If not, they're allowed to finish filling the form out and submit. It'll be a huge time saver if this Ajax script is in place.

Jquery :: Ajax Validation - How To Blank Out Field In Form

Feb 28, 2011

I have a scenario where I have the following jquery
Code:
$("#frompdc<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>").change(function(){
var id = $('#id<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>').attr('value');
var frompdc = $('#frompdc<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>').attr('value');
var topdc = $('#topdc<?php echo $JavaCnt;?>').attr('value');
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "AJ_Update.php",
data: "firm=y&id="+ id + "&frompdc=" + frompdc&topdc=" + topdc
});

And some php to insert this data
Code:
mysql_query("UPDATE TBLTRANSFERS SET FROMPDC = ".$_POST['frompdc'].", MOD_TS = '". $timenow ."' WHERE ID = ".$_POST['id']);

I'm trying to throw some validation in here which I can do in php (a language that I'm much more proficient in) but can't figure out how to get the two together. I want to be able to do a select against another table I have for both the frompdc and the topdc.
Code:
$tofpdcresult = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM tbltransferspdcexclusions where FROMPDC = '".$frompdc."' AND TOPDC = '".$topdc."'");
$tofpdcnum_rows = mysql_num_rows($tofpdcresult);
And if it exists I want to give a popup message to the user as well as blank out the field.

I'm struggling with two things:
How do I get ajax to run two queries and return the results to a popup window?
How do I blank out the field in the form?

JQuery :: Ajax Form Submit - Multiple Post/get Requests Caused When Validation Fails?

May 6, 2010

I have a problem where if a form submission (set up to submit via AJAX) fails validation, the next time the form is submitted, it doubles the number of post requests - which is definitely not what I want to happen. I'm using the jQuery ValidationEngine plugin to submit forms and bind validation messages to my fields. This is my code below. I think my problem is that I need to unbind from the validationEngine plugin when the form fails, but I can't figure out how to do this.

JQuery :: Validation Plugin - Submit Form Without Validation?

Jul 19, 2009

I'm using the Validation plugin for JQuery and was wondering if there was a function to submit the form without causing it to validate the form. I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?

JQuery :: Menu Works On Sample Html Page, But Not In Asp.net Project?

May 3, 2010

OK, so jquery code works fine on a sample test html page. However, when I try to execute the exact same code in my asp.net project, it does not work. I have included the scripts and the paths are correct so it has nothing to do with that.

$(function(){ $('ul.jd_menu').jdMenu({ onShow: loadMenu //onHideCheck: onHideCheckMenu, //onHide: onHideMenu, //onClick: onClickMenu, //onAnimate: onAnimate }); $('ul.jd_menu_vertical').jdMenu({onShow: loadMenu, onHide: unloadMenu, offset: -1, onAnimate: onAnimate}); });

That is the section of code it gives me an error on, it says " Object doesn't support this property or method"

Also, even before I run the project, I have a warning in my error list box that says: Error updating JScript Intellisense (C:~~~blah blah jquery-1.4.2.min.js

JQuery :: Architecture Choice / Whole-nine-yards-open-source Sample Application

Mar 25, 2011

I have been away from development for a while and I'm looking for a way to get back into it. I have two questions:

1) Is the choice of javascript framework independent of the choices of all the other application parts like the object-relational mapping layer, the app server, etc? Right now, I'm looking at JQuery, and ExtJS.

2) Does anyone know where I can get a complete sample application made of open source parts and using all the best practices that I can just copy to get started?

And I mean complete... as if a real life functioning enterprise the likes of Google just zipped up their whole open-source production and development hard drives and made it all available for people to download, unzip, and run... mysql database, bug tracking system, build system, version control, connection pooling services, web server, app server, javascript libraries, internationalization resources, configured IDE, etc. etc. All of everything configured and wrapped up in a single zip file ready to go with just a few changes to IP addresses and passwords. From that we could just change things to build our own first app.I've tried getting started with a bunch of different open source application stacks and I always get stuck. And every time it happens I wonder why I can't just copy someone's entire web development folder. It's open-source and it's just ones and zeroes. Why can't we just copy it and skip the setup process and the time of figuring out best practices on our own?
