View 2 RepliesI'd like to change some properties of ASP Form Elements via Javascript and I am having a very difficult time doing so. The element is defined as:

I'm using Chrome and it's JSShell extension I remove the <emb> and some <iframe> tags from a lot of different sites because their annoying ads.
The I use code for most sites looks like this:
It doesn't do anything. If I don't use $(document).ready() it removes all the ads. Is there a way to do that before loading the document or am I doing something wrong.
Why doesn't this work - no errors, just no value when text is in textbox
var fn=document.forms[0].elements[7].value;
In my document I have a table row with an unknown number and type of elements. I want to make a set of name-value pairs contained in this table row, while I do not know the names of the elements in advance.
Is there something like "give me all children of this table row"? Can I get all children in the document with a wildcard 'Subname*', like give me all elements starting with 'Subname'?
It's for an Intranet so the browsers could only be IE 6.
I'm looking for an alternate way to document.all to list all HTML-elements on a webpage.
I'm trying to get all IDs on a page that starts with specific letters,
ie: <div class='classname' id='MEIT_Start'.....
I wan't to build an array of items starting with 'MEIT_'
I have tried to use getElementByID but no succes...
How to find various elements in the document with jQuery?
Example.
I want to find two tags - <span> and <p>.
I'm trying to use jQuery.find, but he search of one in one.End does not return what elements were found, and how many were. And how do you know which elements have been found?
I have a javascript application i have built[URL].. Now this working in everything excluding IE but i don't under stand why it dose not work in IE
it is a JSON Class that loads appends the content. and has an Iframe System to provide a powerful solution to work with AJAX to show file lists
Any way if you go to that site it errors in Ie but work in every thing else any one got any idear why that is
Is it possible to manipulate with elements in a variable, instead of in the document? I have a situation where I'm getting some HTML code in an Ajax response, but I want to make changes to it before I put it in the document. So I would need to iterate through some elements and change their attributes while the HTML code is still in the variable and then write it to the document.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know if document.getElementById works while accessing form elements. I tried doing this just for testing purposes
This code doesnt work
function validateForm()
{
var val = document.getElementById("id_login").getAttribute("value");
alert(val);
return false;
[Code]...
Why doesnt document.getElementByid work with form objects.it works with all non form HTML objects..
I have some fixed or absolute positioned DOM elements in the whole document for some purpose, How can I traverse the whole document to get the above mentioned elements, any jquery method to be there please let me know,
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use the following code to add a "click" behaviour to an element:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#element_id").click (function(){
...... do something ....
[Code]....
Part of the node I clone is the element from the first piece of code I quoted. The addRowJob function also changed the ID of every element in the node I cloned. This way all IDs remain unique. Lets say the element in question has the ID "#element_id". Now I clone the node (which includes the element) and the cloned element gets its ID changed to "#element_id_new".
Of course I now want this newly append element ("#element_id_new") to have a click event attached to, but even if extend my $(document).ready(function() to:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#element_id").click (function(){
...... do something ....
});
[Code].....
I simply doesn't work for the appended element.
My guess is that the $(document).ready(function(){ only fires when the document is finished loading. At this stage there is no element with the ID "#element_id_new" and therefore the click event can't be attached to the element. Makes senses...
But how do I get this click event attached to the newly appended element with the ID "#element_id_new"?
I'm still struggling with creating a properly formatted form. This problem it two-fold. The first part isn't strictly a javascript problem, but I've included it here because it relates to the second part, which is:
1. Given the form below, how should I structure the input names to get an array like that at bottom?
2. The scripts are used to provide running totals and subtotals. They're fun - try them! But how should I modify these scripts so that they can continue to work with the amended naming policy?
[Code]...
I have created two onClick events that i need to combine into one with jQuery. I am not sure how to do this.I have an unordered list:
<ul id="coverTabs">
<li class="currentTab"><a href="#">Individual</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Couple</a></li>
[code].....
Let's say I have a webpage. The user does something that writes some new HTML code in to the document, code that wasn't there on the initial page load. This new code causes new HTML elements to appear on the page.
Is there any way I can access the new HTML elements thought JQuery?
Standard use of $('#newelement').click(whatever) doesn't appear to work on HTML code generated by an AJAX request. It's like the JQuery "can't see it".
I want to get all the "a" elements with the href attribute in this form: [URL] where any can be a string containing just letters and/or numbers. I'm new to regex and XPath so i can't get it right. I digured it out the regex but i'm not sure if it's 100% correct:
[Code]..
I have the following:
<tr onMouseOver="alert('Over a row')">
and I want to modify the event to be:
<tr onMouseOver="alert('Over THIS row')">
in other words reaching into the event, and changing some part of it.
I have tried walking through the attributes of the <truntil I reach
the onclick, then changing its value, but that throws an error.
By default the style of #pricea in my stylesheet is visibility="hidden";
<script type="text/javascript">
function arrow(boxName){
document.getElementById(boxName).style.visibility = "visible";
}

I have a div 'readroot' that I clone. I change the change the id and
name of the childnodes of 'readroot' to the original name plus a
number(counter).
The problem is I have i have a div 'serials' inside 'readroot' and the
childnodes of 'readroot' are not modified with the current function i have.
What is the best way to modify the childnodes of the div serials?
I guess i could put another for loop inside the for loop of the
moreFields function but i am thinking a recursive function could do it. Code:
I have a page with 2 drop-down menus. The task is, when you select
1 menu, your selection then changes the options available in the
other. This data happens to be drawn from a mysql database, so I
wouldn't think that it could be done purely in Javascript, but rather
a combination of PHP generating some JS code. Thing is, I don't even
see how to change a menu's available options with JavaScript, only
names and values of individual fields.
The basic concept is a music playlist that I'm trying to write as a
table inside a div.
I have Song and Playlist 'classes'. The Song class has a Write()
method, as does the Playlist.
The Song.Write() boils down to this:
var tr = document.createElement("TR");
var td = document.createElement("TD");
tr.id = this.ID;
tr.appendChild(td);
td.innerText = this.Artist + ' - ' + this.Title;
td.onclick = function() {top.playSong(this.parentElement.id);}
return tr;
The Playlist.Write() call is essentially this:
// this.songs is an Array of Song objects
for (var x = 0; x < this.songs.length; x++) {
playlistTable.appendChild(this.songs[x].Write());
}
When I attempt to call playlistTable.appendChild() after creating the
table via document.createElement("Table"), everything works fine,
except I have no way to add the table to my document, since the div I
want it in won't believe that appendChild() is a valid method. If I
put the table in the div as a <TABLE>, and then try to append to that,
the *table* doesn't accept appendChild() as valid. Specifically, I get
an 'Invalid argument' error when calling either.
I have been working on an autocomplete script that I have modified to be used with JSP's/Servlets. The script is working very nicely, except for one minor issue. When the user selects from the suggestions in the drop down list, for some unexplained reason, an extra space is added to the word in the text field. Also, I would like to modify this script further, such that if a user enters more than one word in the text field, the autocomplete script is activated for each word, instead of ONLY the first word.
I have added the entire code for the JavaScript file that is responsible for the autocomplete feature below.
The link from where you can download the autocomplete files is here:
[URL]
a demo of the script can be found here:

FYI, I am using the version that uses XML.
Below is the JavaScript code for the autocomplete file I am using:
if(typeof(bsn)=="undefined")_b=bsn={};if(typeof(_b.Autosuggest)=="undefined")_b.Autosuggest={};else alert("Autosuggest is already set!");_b.AutoSuggest=function(b,c){if(!document.getElementById)return 0;this.fld=_b.DOM.gE(b);if(!this.fld)return

How can I modify a page before it is rendered? I tried using greasemonkey to remove a script, but it runs it anyway. Is there some way I can get rid of a script on a page before it runs.
What I originally tried to do was removeChild, but that of course is done after the page is rendered. Then I tried wrapping the script in <noscript> tags, and it still was executed.
<script type="text/javascript">
function confirmation()
{
alert(
"Please Confirm Before Proceeding !" +
"
" +
"Display Name: " + document.forms["paypal"]["os0"].value +

First though JS is not my strong suit and the above code is something I found at the W3School site or whatever it is. What I would like to do if possible is add a Cancel button to the alert box that when clicked cancels the form submission it's attached to and keeps the user on the current page to modify the data they entered in to the form should they want to change it. As it stands, all there is is an Ok button and if you click the red x in the corner it acts as if you clicked ok so if a user wanted to change their form data they'd have to close the browser to start again. Aside from liking to add a cancel button I would also like to if possible change the alerts Ok button to read something different. Not sure yet, thinking either Submit or Proceed.
I’m trying to modify a DHTML editor that parses a style-sheet
via PHP and instead of modifying the tags via execCommand(), find a
way of writing inline styles by way of adding <span style=> tags
around the selected text.
Easier said than done. My first though was to do a search and replace
on the innerHTML, but falls down if there is more than one match (it
will only modify the first occurrence). I suspect that even if I could
find the text around the selected area, this could still fall down for
same reason.
So, I’ve got the selected text via the createTextRange() method.
How do I modify this text and write it back out to the textarea.
I have a form which houses basic inputs, as well as a few multiple select forms.
I need to parse all the 'values' which are in this multiple select form (it
gets manipulated dynamically client side). I wanted to create a function
that loops through all the form elements, and if the type 'select-multiple'
is detected, gather the VALUES of each <option> inside it.
The bit I'm stuck on is then how to reconstruct this into a form submission.
Preferably I wanted the data from the 'select-multiple' element to be
submitted as comma delimited, eg 14,12,512,63,62 which would later be parsed
by PHP.
I was considering reconstructing a query string and submitting that as GET,
but I'd prefer to POST it along with the other data (such as INPUTS etc)
which do not need to be changed.
Can I somehow attach some 'hidden' type data onto the end of the form
submission at this point?
