XML Parsing From Request To Website For Weather Info
Aug 11, 2010
I am currently working on a project that parses xml from a request to a website for weather information. I have had success parsing other elements so I know that my code is working. I'm just stuck with a particular element. The xml response is as follows:
Code:
<adc_database>
<forecast>
<day number="1">
<daytime>
<hightemperature>93</hightemperature>
<lowtemperature>60</lowtemperature>
</daytime>
</day>
<day number="2">
<daytime>
<hightemperature>90</hightemperature>
<lowtemperature>58</lowtemperature>
</daytime>
</forecast>
</adc_database>
This is only a short version of the xml response. I am trying to fetch information in the "daytime" tags for each day, as there are multiple days. I am however, not having good success. I am using javascript to parse code is as follows:
Code:
function findChild (element, nodeName)
{
var child;
for (child = element.firstChild; child != null; child = child.nextSibling)
{
if (child.nodeName == nodeName)
return child;
}
return null;
} .....
I have not specified any declarations and other code in here as its working and probably not necessary to waste space. I just need to fix my looping to populate the array with the correct information. Only needing to populate it with the elements under the daytime tag which is located under each day. This in turn is all located under the Forecast tag.

I have written an Ajax application which can send http HEAD requests
and receive the header response from server.
Now I want to show the different values in formatted manner. However,
there seems be no character or expression which I can use to split the
HEAD response for string processing.
Here is a sample of server response:
Mime-Version: 1.0 Date: Thu, 08 Feb 2007 03:51:13 GMT Server: Apache/
2.0.1a Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 69
Connection: close
If you have any information regarding this please do let me know.

I worked with now in jQuery. Property however at present the following problem: [i]I provide a AJAX Request. the side is loaded, the parameters all conveyed and back receives I a complete HTML side. Now I would like to have only certain elements however from this side, like DIV, SPAN etc. How can I make with the AJAX Request return in such a way best, which I can select these elements thereby? Simply it would be unfortunately not functioned over the function $ (element), it even if I indicate the HTML Request as secondly parameter.[/i] Excused, for my bad English. ;-) Translatertool. There is unfortunately too many words, in order to describe my problem. ^^

I have a php page which returns a table representing a query sent to a MySQL database. So far it has worked in every case except now that I'm trying to use it to call a stored procedure, in which case the readystate is staying at 1 and never completing.
I have logged the results of the php file both in an error log and looked at the response from the request using firebug, both of which show a correct result.
Why isn't this returning properly?
Here are the relevant javascript functions:
Code:
function customizeType()
{
$("custom-header").innerHTML = "";
$("custom-top").innerHTML = "";
[Code]....
After the page loads, the error log shows correct results for all queries.

i have an ajax script that requests data from a database. Some of the fields contain html. I would like to know the easiest way to parse an xml file that looks like such:
<response>
<poster>Poster name here</poster>
<title>Title goes here, may contain a link</title>
<text>html content here</text>
</response>
i can't seem to figure out an easy way of parsing all the contents between a tag, what is the easiest way? I'm trying to fix a script that doesnt work when the text area contains html and i can't get it to work.

I'm experimenting with Javascript and I am making a simple site that features a grid of images and when you mouseover (I'll probably change this to mousedown) a pop-up box appears to the right with some info.This works fine when not bound within a table, but as soon as the content is in a table it refuses to move to where the link is. At the bottom of the code is an example of it outside of a table which works fine. I just would really like it to work in a table because of the more rigid structure I get from that, the content is always evenly distributed across the page, no big empty spaces. I also am deliberately trying to make the grid work for all different resolutions which is why every width/height is a %, and am hoping it can work this way too.

I can't figure out how to parse the following string and to decompose
it into substring.
CuttingFlags--C500F2*#C503F3*#C509F10*#C506F2*F15##
Basically, each C should go in an array. and for each C I should have
an array of F.
CuttingFlags array contains C500, C503, C509 and C506
C500 contains F2, C506 contains F2 and F15.....
Can you help to parse the string first?

I wrote something like:
var table=Array();
$.post("script.php", {arg1: a}, function(xml) {
$(xml).find("tagname").each(function() {
table[table.length]=$(this);
});
});
The code works OK in Firefox and Google Chrome, but it fails in Konqueror (khtml) or IE 8.0: the resulting array is empty although the xml read by Ajax call is OK. I tried also with "$("tagname", xml).each()" - same result.

I'm trying to work with XML DOM for the first time as I need to grab a value from a SOAP request. I've been following this: [URL], which says modern browsers won't parse xml files from another server for security reasons. How would I got about doing this then? I've been using the price of crude oil as an example [URL] and want code portable enough to put on something like Tumblr, so I don't think I can actually save the file locally first.

I have a project coming up this summer that will include having to run a quiz like application from several machines disconnected from the internet.
I was hoping to be able to have all of the quiz data in an XML file and the actual quiz page as html/js. The machines will be using IE5/Mac.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to get a hold of a machine for testing until very close to the deadline, so I need to know what technologies will and wont work for the browser.
What kind of compatibility issues (if any) should I be weary of?
