XHTML Doesn't Recognize OnChange Event?

alright, im working on a page that has a drop-down menu in it...it uses the onChange event to trigger the different links (only one at the moment, but still)...and now XHTML doesnt validate it as a recognizable attribute...so is there some way to somehow target the drop-down menu's onChange event from a separate .js file? heres the basic code:

I have auto-suggest that brings down first and last name into a input box, it also brings into another input box the id of the selected item.
on that id i want to be able to auto fill a form from there.
right now i have it set up but and it auto-fills with lets say 55 but it does not execute the code to fill in the form.
however if i type something into that box it fills the form.
how is it possible to have the to see eachother.

I have made a drop-down list on my html form using <select> tag. I am using a onchange event for this select tag. My problem is that the onchange event triggers only when I use the mouse to change the value to drop-down list. When I use tab key to focus on the list and then change the value using up-down keys, the onchange event does not get triggered.

I am making this drop down menu with several options depending on your choice. It works fine in FF but when I tried in IE simply won't recognize a Value. The window keep popping out even though you choose an option, this way won't let me go to the next step.

I have a form, with a submit button. Inside this form i have one input text field, in addition to an add more button to add more of that input field using JQuery .html(val);. Now the issue appears when I submit the form, all inline added input fields are not recognized, they are not set and there is no data for them in the POST.

I've been working on a project for some time now, and just recently I installed Firefox.
Now, part of the site (which works perfectly in IE6/7) doesn't work in Firefox.
Here is part of the code:

(I didn't copy all of the code because it's basically the same all the way down)
The main problem is with the link (Firefox apparently doesn't recognize table rows as links). The second problem is with the onmouseover/onmouseout etc handlers (absolutely nothing happens).
just in case you need to know, the code is for a nav bar.

Cycle plugin displays horizontally my vertical photos (photos taken with my camera in portrait position).The same photos are displayed vertically (the right way) by other imaging applications (e.g. Photoshop and Finder or Preview in OSX).The same photos are displayed horizontally (the wrong way) by Safari and Firefox (IE not tested). Cycle seems to rely upon browser poor orientation recognizion.how to make Cycle Plugin aware of the right photo orientation?

Adsense ads are not working on a site with XHTML 1.0 Strict doctype which is served as text/html. Any ideas what could be the problem?
One more thing, the ads show up on my localhost properly.

I'm currently facing a weird issue with the onchange event. I have a web application where each blur event makes a call the webserver to store the value of the textfield. I only want to trigger that ajax call when something has changed, so i track the onchange event on each textfield to set a flag if something has changed.
The onchange event always fires to first time when i click outside of a textfield even if i didn't change anything in the field.
I narrowed it down to the following: A prefilled textfield always fires the onchange-event the first time you leave the textfield. An initially empty textfield does not fire the onchange event.

Wrote what I though would be a simple script to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius, feet to meters... and vice versa. It uses onchange="calculate(this)" in the input fields, so when the individual enters a number and hits tab or enter it automatically calls the calculate() function and does the needed conversion. I'm passing (this), 'this' being the input field, and calculate() pulls out the needed data for the conversion.
It works great in Firefox. But in IE or Opera, the calculate() function never even gets called. I've searched for an answer, but to now avail. I haven't written much JavaScript and am not entirely sure what's causing the problem. Kinda makes me think of Java, where if you want to use action listeners, you need to first instantiate a listener object. Is there somekinda event listener in JavaScript that Opera and IE want instantiated? Here is my code in it's entirety.

I am trying to include two functions in an onchange when the user selects a new value from a select list: It is a quite big form form - There are one select list, when changed - TWO other fields in the form needs to change accordingly: I put the information back using ajax and place it within a <span id="blah"></span>; I have checked the span ids, and they are correct! The first example works, which shows that the recalc function can be called. The second example works, which shows that onchange will trigger an alert box. BUT, the third example doesn't work. Why can't I trigger a call to the recalc function from the onchange event?
The above 3 code postings are the entire programs. Nothing has been left out or modified.

I have 2 dropdown lists which are connected to a mysql database. When I select an item from the first dropdown list the second dropdown list should show item which are linked to the item from the first list. But the thing is I can select an item from the first one, but the second isn't showing anything.
In the mysql database I have 2 tables: hesk_programma and hesk_projecten. In table hesk_programma there are a ProgrammaID and Programma column. In table hesk_projecten there are a ProgrammaID, a ProjectNumber and a Project column.
ProgrammaID from the two tables are connected to each other, so when I select an item from the first dropdown list with the ProgrammaID AK, the second dropdownlist should only display the items with the ProgammaID AK from the hesk_projecten.

Is there anyway to trigger an onChange event without actually clicking etc.
I want to trigger it from a method. It sounds silly but I'm taking some code over from another developer and if I could do this it would save me days of re-writing!!!

I have an upload form that is working fine with a submit button, but I really would like it to submit on its own without a submit button onChange when a user selects an image. I have it sending the form with onChange but it is not sending the uploaded file like when you hit the button! It is sending it as "example.jpg" instead of actually sending the file for upload.

I got this problem with live() event.I have used it as follows.

I have used the live() event to trigger the function on mouseover in the dynamically added elements. But the problem i got is that once the live event is called it takes the class of the element and stores. And when the class of that particular element is changed dynamically the live() event does not detect the new classed added dynamically, instead it takes the former class. Live() event does not update the class.

In JavaScripts checks for an onChange event against the value of the
textbox at the time of the last onChange event. Since an onChange
Event never fired after you changed the text first time , suppose we
put the same value in the text box then no event is fired.
If we put some other value then it became fired...
It wouldn't fire if we put the same value...
I don't want to use onBlur etc... Isthere any solution with onChange
Event...?

I Have a text box in a jsp that is pre populated. The text box should accept only numbers and it should be greater than a minimum value (this value depends on the user settings). If the user enters a value less than the minimum value, i should pop up an alert saying that the value
entered is incorrect and reset it back to previous correct value. How could i do it using onchange event of the text box.

Am I right in assuming that you can NOT set focus() back to a field in
its onChange event? Is there another way - I have validation that I
would like to set the focus back to the invalid field onChange?

I would like to use some event handling on a form, not something I have done before and looking for some assistance. Here is my code:

So what I need to happen, is based on the selection of the first selection box, some of the options of the other selection boxes should not be available.If Outside is selected, everything in LocA should be available, but only up to 4 in Loc1... and if Inside is selected, only up to E should be available in LocA and everything should be available in Loc1.

I want to make one application using javacript or may be it is in ajax. Let me explain my problem: I have one select box name person which have value 0,1,2,3,4,5 .
