What Is The Attached Code

Jul 1, 2009

Although I've written some javascript I'm afraid I just do not understand the attached code. It works fine, and I can sort of see what's happening but the syntax of the return statement (the start:....,stop:...) is something I cannot find explained on any websites.

Floating Layer Attached To The Cursor

Mar 29, 2009

I currently have a floating layer that appears when someone puts the cursor on an image (information about the image appears in a table format). The cursor moves down the page as you scroll, however, it would be better if the layer would be attached to the cursor. Better positioning. I have asked for help coding this and got a variety of answers, none of which have worked. I would not mind a tooltip, if the tooltip could be formatted to contain a table with text. The only tooltip code I found does not allow the tooltip to be formatted in any way.

My preference would be a layer as used in Dreamweaver that would appear next to the cursor when the cursor is placed on a photo.

Get A List Of Events Attached With An Object?

Mar 25, 2009

I am using following JavaScript code to add click event on anchor tags with attribute rel="gcode"

Now I need a script to highlight all anchor tags which have an click event attached with them.

Is it possible using JavaScript to get a list of events attached with an object? Also I will need to check the code used in every event. (It is something like an Quality Assurance or Debugging code.)

Code JavaScript:
function gLinks() {
if (!document.getElementsByTagName) return;
var anchors = document.getElementsByTagName("a");
for (var i=0; i<anchors.length; i++) {

If I have several links with onClick events pointing to the same function, how can I get a reference back to the link that was clicked? I'd like to change the link text after the onClick fires so the user knows something is happening, without having to create and assign id's to every link.

Function To Open A New Window With Variables Attached To Url?

Sep 23, 2003

I'm figuring this will need to be done in a function. I'm building a page builder with 2 fields, a textbox called 'title' and a textarea called 'text' (imaginative huh!).

I want to have a preview facility. I've built the preview page, all I want to do is have a javascript button that passes the value of those two text fields to this preview page in the querystring. Is there a way using variables to pass this through?

Footer Attached To Bottom Of Browser Window

Jun 8, 2009

I'm having an extremely hard time finding out how to do this. I'm looking to attach the footer of my site to the bottom of the browser window. The site uses an accordian/slider as it's UI, so the footer needs to "float" above all the content and attach to the bottom of the BROWSER window (not the end of the content), so that when the slider comes down and some of the content is below the bottom of the browser window, the footer remains at the bottom of the browser window, even when the page is scrolled. I'm tearing my hair out trying to find a solution to this issue. Here's the page with the footer as a simple div (it's not even fixed to the bottom with CSS right now because that does no good when the page is scrolled):[URL]

JQuery :: Use .html() In Without Clearing Events Attached To Selectors?

Feb 15, 2011

I have been trying to use jquery function .html() but I noticed that it clears all events that are attached to the selectors. Is there a way around this issue? I want to change the content and keep the events.

I am aware of live and delegate functions but I am making changes to an external page so I do not have control over attaching events or knowing what they are at the first place.

Deleting Objects (DOM Notes With Event Listeners Attached)

Jun 29, 2011

I am creating JS objects that have some properties that contain DOM nodes, and some of these DOM nodes have event listeners attached to them. When I delete such objects, do I first need to remove the event listeners attached to some of the DOM nodes? And do I need to use removeChild on the DOM nodes that are properties of the object? Or does JavaScript take care of all that?

With Html You Can Put The Html + Css Together Or Have The Css In An Attached File?

Aug 3, 2010

how to do it with javascript.

1. With html you can put the html + css together or have the css in an attached file, so it reads the file + the html code.example:
I have pure html then I have a file with the css that is just a file put into the css, but clicking on that file brings you to the CSS code.

2. Can I do this with javascript in a pure CSS file? I want to put a javascript file in CSS because you can't put javascript directly into the code.I'd have the css template then I'd have a css area where it would put in the dimensions of the block and where to place it around with css then I'd put the file of javascript in the code.

The problems I have that brought me to this problem are I can't touch the html code and the CSS is all I have access to. One more question - I'm wondering how I would host the file. Is there somewhere I can buy some hosting that would just be my javascript code to serve the code javascript code file.My main goal is to get my adsense code off my blog posts and into a block that is next to the post, but not technically in it. Just in case I do get banned since it can be inevitable at times.

JQuery :: Code A Page With Code - User To Be Able To Move Html Elements Around

Mar 23, 2011

I am trying to make a gui for clients to edit a php page that displays html and javascript.

I want the user to be able to move html elements around and even edit it like add effects like fade in and out etc.

Then after all the changes I want to overwrite the existing php file that does this for that user. how can you make such changes and then save it to a file?

It's an html / javascript editor but using a gui instead of allowing them to directly touch the code. It would be a security risk if I allow such a thing. So I need to program a interface that would make such changes and save them to file.

Like how can you delete and add new javascript code to the file?

Alert() Statement Lets Code Work, Remove It, Code Errors Out

Dec 17, 2007

I am a novice, almost to an intermediate-level JavaScript guy, so much of this is new to me. I appreciate your patience reading this.

I have a routine that creates some HTML on the fly (updateFilters() function) and after the HTML is created, I attempt to access some fields (elements) on the form itself.

I works fine if I place an alert() statement after the HTML is created, but when I remove, the code errors out.

I have tried the setTimeout() statement, but I cannot grab the element --- undefined or null is returned. It seems that the form is the only element I can get a handle on --- everything else is undefined or null...

Here is the code:

function editQuery() {
var f;
var x;
var myForm = document.forms[0];
// Get the row filters that were used in the last query..
for (f = 1; f < 16; f++) {
var filter = eval("myForm.FilterList_" + f);
if (filter.selectedIndex > 0) {
var methodElement = element("FilterMethod_" + f);
var methodIndex = methodElement.selectedIndex;
var savedFilterMethodValue = methodElement.options[methodIndex].text;
var choicesElement = element("FilterChoices_" + f);
var choicesIndex = choicesElement.selectedIndex;
if (isNaN(choicesIndex)) {
var savedFitlerValues = choicesElement.value;
}
else {
var savedFitlerValues = choicesElement.options[choicesIndex].text;
}
updateFilters(filter); // update the filters
// take the saved methods and values and then update the selections
// Alert here makes the code work..
// alert("Try this");
// Wait for HTML..
setTimeout("completeEdit()", 1000);
function completeEdit() {
// Since the object was updated, get the object again..
var methodElement = element("FilterMethod_" + f);
for (x = 0; x < methodElement.options.length; x++) {
if (methodElement.options[x].text == savedFilterMethodValue) {
methodElement.options[x].selected = true;
break;
}
else {
methodElement.options[x].selected = false;
}
}
// Since the object was updated, get the object again..
var choicesElement = element("FilterChoices_" + f);
for (x = 0; x < choicesElement.options.length; x++) {
if (choicesElement.options[x].text == savedFitlerValues) {
choicesElement.options[x].selected = true;
break;
}
else {
choicesElement.options[x].selected = false;
}
}
// Only display next row if f = 2..
// If only one row was used, no reason display the next row..
if (f == 2) {
displayNextFilter(f - 1); // display it
}
}
clearTimeout(timeOut);
}
}
}

Do I have to pass the object (the form, the elements) to the completeEdit() function in the setTimeout() statement?

JQuery :: Hide Code - Add Code To An External Js Sheet It Doesnt Seem To Work?

Jan 6, 2011

HTML Code:

HTML Code:

This works fine when I place this code under the html in the main source, but if I try to add this Jquery code to an external js sheet it doesnt seem to work?

Currently my js sheet is called in the header, when I move this link to the footer of my page the code works again, so Im guessing this has something to do with where the jquery code is placed in relation to the code Im trying to hide?

How I can keep my js in the header but still make the content disappear on click?
