Sep 30, 2010I'm working on a page that has an iframe that loads a page with a file input on it. What I need to do is validate that file input to make sure that it isn't empty.

Validating Forms Input
Jan 6, 2006I am looking for a little help validating a forms input. On the form are key
items which I do not wish to be zero length.
I have wrote the following function:

However their are still a few issues I would like to work out.
I all it with my forms sumbit event with the following:

However that will only check the length of the item txtRef, how can I check
more textbox values? Also how can I stop the form posting if the alert is raised?

I wish to add some cross value vaidations to ensure some extra data gets entered should the user choose one of 50 of these values. Now I know I can write a JS validation individully fo each of the 50 as follows:

Then repeat this alidation 50 times.
My question - is there a way to shorten the code to someting like this:
var fieldx = "1, 2, 3, 4, 5"; etc with all 50 values defined here, then something like:

Sep 14, 2011I have a page that displays in an iframe. How to get the index of the iframe in the parent window in which my page is getting displayed using javascript.

Dec 20, 2004I have a form with three Input File form objects in which the user can add image files. But I am worried about the problems these controls can lead, because to check the file size the server needs to receive the entire file, so serious problems may happen, for example:
1. Malicious user trying to collapse the website sending big files.
2. Users that have not seen the warning “Maximum size: 100 KB� for each image, and try to send three image files consisting in 1,5 MB each one. These users will have a bad experience waiting one hour or more to upload the images, and after that receive an alert saying “Oooops! Your image files are too big.� And also, web server will waste an important amount of resources. The same case with 100 users at the same time can be a nightmare!
I have been searching a way to check the file size on client side without having to force user to install anything, but I think that there isn’ t nothing to do with javascript. But I found an interesting PHP article that explains a way to do it with this server side language. The technique consists in:
“A hidden field (measured in bytes) that precede the file input field, and its value is the maximum filesize accepted. This is an advisory to the browser, PHP also checks it. This form element should always be used as it saves users the trouble of waiting for a big file being transferred only to find that it was too big and the transfer failed. Code:

Scrolling Inside An IFrame
Dec 15, 2010I have a page, in which I have an iFrame. I do not want to scroll the page to see the iFrame properly. My point is to scroll the iFrame in that page so it would change it's position (page inside iFrame).
What won't work: putting a window scrollTo into a iFrame page code (simply because this page is not mine, so i.e.: I have my own page and in iFrame I have stackoverflow.com, and I want it to scroll 100px to the right and 500px to the bottom). I just can't stand spending any more time on figuring it out... Is it even possible? As I read it is. No simple answer: how. Just to state one thing: I do have scrollbar x and y, but I want the iframe to scroll to the exact position to show something on that page inside an iframe. I have no access to the page that is in iframe!
