Reload Page With Different URL Variable?

Dec 20, 2010

I know I can make a link that reloads a page like this:

<a href="thispage.php">Refresh this page</a>
Or, using javascript:
<a href="javascript:location.reload(true)">Refresh this page</a>

I am starting from "thispage.php", and I want to reload it as "thispage.php?action=newversion"? (This page has a form that reloads the rest of the page with new data when refreshed with the action call).

Is there a javascript technique that would do this without calling the "thispage.php" part? The page includes a function that I need to be portable to any page that I place it on.

Obviously this is very wrong but I am trying to do this:

<a href="javascript:location.reload(true) . ?action=newversion">Refresh this page</a>

Document.location.reload(true) Vs Regular Refresh - Reload The Frame

Nov 17, 2010

Is there a difference between right clicking an iframe and reloading post reponse vs. using javascript to reload the frame? So far, the javascript route hasn't worked for me. [some context] I am writing a little bookmarklet to help me with the online registrations at my school. Here is the setup.

Load up a page on the domain. Remove all body elements. Insert an iframe. Set iframe to page for class roster search. (in iframe on school search page) Select class search options, POST the form data, and view results in frame. *This works perfectly, but I need to have it refresh results every minute or so. When I use frame.contentDocument.location.reload(true); the frame loses the post data or something and the page is broken. BUT when I just right click on the frame and select "reload frame" it works perfectly. What is the difference between rightclicking the frame and refreshing it like that vs. using javascript to reload the frame?

Making - Not Reload The Page After A Form Submit

Mar 13, 2009

Im working on my final project for my DOM and DHTML class and we have to make a calculator site. I have it working (for the most part). I was wondering If there was a way to make it so whenever the form finishes executing that the page wont reload, right now I have an alert pop up and say the result but I would like to have it put the result back into the form so the user can use it for other calculations. I didn't know if there was an easy way to do this, or what I would have to use, were allowed to use Prototype and Ajax, but I dont know how to use Ajax all that well...

Complex (?) Q: Run Asp Script / Reload Form List?

Oct 6, 2005

What I'm currently doing is returning a list of images in a directory via a form list. I'm an asp guy so vbscript is the way I'm doing this:

<select name="image" size="10" onChange="generateimage(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value)" align=left>
<%
Dim FSO
Dim Files
Dim File
Dim Count
Set FSO = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set Files = FSO.GetFolder(Server.MapPath("./moms_images/")).Files
Set FSO = Nothing
Count = 0
For Each File In Files
Select Case LCase(Right(File.Name, 3))
Case "jpg", "gif", "bmp", "png"

Response.Write "<option value='" & File.Name & "'>" & File.Name & "</option>"

End Select
Next
Set File = Nothing
Set Files = Nothing
%>
</select>

What I *hope* to be able to do is allow a file upload (also vbscript) from a pop-up window and, when the upload is complete, refresh the list (above) without reloading the page (AJAX fever, methinks)

The only thing that would make it even cooler would be to auto-select / display the newest upload otf (I use dhtml to display the images on-select ala dynamicdrives example).

I realize this is a fairly tall order, but would be greatful for any pointers or weblinks for this js-challenged soul to use to get started.

Accessing A Variable Through A Form Name

Jul 23, 2005

I have 2 arrays:

var A1 = new Array();
A1[ 0 ] ="Y2";

var B1 = new Array();
B1[ 0 ] ="Y1";
B1[ 1 ] ="sink";

I also have a drop down menu with the names of the arrays. Say:

document.form.option[1].text returns 'B1'

Can I transform the string 'B1' into the array B1, so that:

document.form.option[1].text[1] returns 'sink'

Currently I'm doing this with conditionals, e.g.

if(document.form.option[1].text =="B1){do stuff}

but this gets a bit messy.

Referencing Form In Variable?

Feb 10, 2009

i have a simple thing that causes me all sorts of headaches. I have many forms on the same page, and identical items in each form. The same object in each form call the same procedure. So, I'm passing in the form value, such as:

onchange="DoMyFunction('formName');"
and then in the procedure i do:
function DoMyFunction(formname){
document.[formname].object.value='1';
}

Now i have functions like this all over, problem is getting them to work. Once they work, they work fine. But when i add a new one, it can match an old function (except the object being referenced) and it won't work!

Does anyone know the proper way to reference a form in a function?

Variable As A Form Element Name?

var myvar = 1;

</head>
<body>
<input name="myvar" type="radio" value="radiobutton" />test

I tested the above and looked at the course. The name is shown as "myvar" and not "1", so I guess it didn't work.

First Timer - Form Variable

Feb 8, 2006

I'm writing some javascript functions to process variables from a form. Running into a few hitches, wonder if anyone can clarify what I think must be pretty easy questions but my searches don't find any answers....

My html page is using the form variable values to do some calculations and display images in a new window.

One of the form objects is a <select> looking like this:
<form name="imgform">
<select name="imgct">
<option value=totalimgs selected>all
<option>3
<option>4
<option>5
.
.
.
</select>

and I want the selected option "all" to be loaded with the value of a predeefined variable "totalimgs". When I later access it using

var imgct=document.imgform.imgct.value;

The above obviously returns a string value of "totalimgs", not the value of the variable itself.

Submit Form Variable To Lightbox

Aug 13, 2010

I need to send form variable to a lightbox. What this page suppose to do is user will insert his ID, click Papar ~Display in English, the page will refresh and his examination result will be output in the lightbox. More information on my test page here: [URL] paste 158756873427 into the form and click Papar. That lightbox popup is a remote file so I can paste mysql query in it. Also its not working actually.

I already set the query manually like this:
PHP Code:
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM exam_data WHERE no_KP='158756873427'");

What I need is the form from infopendidikan.php to send its variable to the lightbox remote page resultpopup.php. Also you can click on the query popup on the left menu to see the fixed query. resultpopup.php need to retrieve variable from infopendidikan.php.

Anyway this is infopendidikan.php code:
PHP Code:
<?php
//if the "submit"variable does not exist form has not been submitted display initial page
if (!$_POST['submit'])
{ ?> .....
If I can get the result in the lightbox without page refresh that will be more cool. The lightbox I'm using is facebox from [URL].
