I am new to JS and usually learn by studying code posted online and modify it to have it do what I need. Recently, I used a totaling plugin for an online ordering form which does the below:
item1 qty(user input text) * preset price = total price
item2 qty(user input text) * preset price = total price
item3 qty(user input text) * preset price = total price
I'm using the Maxmind Geoip database to pull information about the visitor:MaxMind - GeoIP JavaScript Web Service(namely the city and state).I want to use that information to prepopulate one of the fields on my form (say city)
I want to write a generic function since I'm basically doing the same thing over and over. What I'm trying to do is to pass the name of the form and the specific field name to complete the following line: "var testdata = document.form.input.value;".
I have combined a user's input with a Craigslist RSS Url in this form:Craigslist RSS URL (missing 1 number to define bedrooms) + User Input Number (this completes the URL)Here is the code:
When I echo that second span, I get the selected value from the first span. But I need to get that value into a hidden html form field, so I can pass it along with the $_POST array. How do I do this?
I have a bunch of forms in my page, and want to pass a reference to the current form to a javascript function - when, say, a user clicks on a particular element. Normally, within any type of input field, I'd just add something like this:
onclick="my_function(this.form)"
Then, in my_function( form ) I could refer to form. No worries.
But here's the interesting bit. I also want to run the same function when the user clicks on any <a> tag within a form, like:
I have a form and want to be able to submit it using 1 of 2 different javascript links. Now these links work using the onclick handler:
Code:
onclick="this.form.submit();"> However, i want the script that deals with the form submission to be able to know which link has submitted the form. So like if you used an <input="submit"> type button you would get a value, can this be done for an onclick link?
I've made a made a lovely form which is loaded into a dialog upon clicking a link. Works fine, but I want something which identifies they URL clicked on initially (e.g. /stats.php?id=bob ) to end up as a hidden form field. Should be easy but I can't get the syntax/logic right.
What I need to do is to pass a conditional variable to the target URL, when the form is submitted, depending on which graphic button is pressed.
So, the form already sends several variables when the form is submitted (at the onclick event). I've confirmed this by capturing the HTTP POST variables and displaying them when the page executes.
Now, depending on which graphic button is selected, I would like to pass another variable.
For example, when the Create button is pressed, I would like to pass create=true (or something signifying that 'create' is set) to the target URL......
Tried searching but didn't seem to find a solid solution to my problem I'm trying to pass a value to an input form field, from a function. Here is my code
PHP Code: <script> function createDiv(sceneNum, startTime, endTime, dialog, notes)
I was wondering if there was a way to dynamically read a field input and respond to it later in the form. My situation is this: I have a question that asks how many workers are employed at a business. Later in the form, the user is asked to add as many workers as they have (section with information on each worker) ..Is there a way I can have something echoed or document.write above the latter section saying "Please add (Number of workers listed above) sections for each worker employed"
I am working on a javascript for my blackberry. I am trying to capture the latitude and longitude of that phone. I am able to get the coordinates in an alert box but am having a little trouble writing it to a form input field.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "[URL]"> <html xmlns="[URL]" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head><title>GPS Testing</title> </head><body> <script type="text/javascript"> if(blackberry.location.GPSSupported){ document.write("Your device supports GPS locating"); blackberry.location.onLocationUpdate(window.alert("Latitude: " + blackberry.location.latitude + " Longitude: " + blackberry.location.longitude)); var lat = blackberry.location.latitude(); var lng = blackberry.location.longitude(); blackberry.location.refreshLocation(); document.write(lat); } </script></body></html>
I am only able to test with Blackberry. I was trying to create a couple of variables with the "var lat =" and var lng =". With this script I get the alert window and when I click ok it writes "Your device supports ...".
I have a script which uses a colorpicker in which the user can select a color, and in the preview section the color of one div is changed to this color value. This is done by a javascript function of the color picker. called setcolor. The code for this function is given below:
function setColor(color) { var inp = document.getElementById("pageSurround"); inp.style.backgroundColor = color; }
Now I want that the value 'color'(used above to set bg color for the element 'pageSurround') is passed to a form variable named 'in_backgroundColor'(the color picker is being invoked in a PHP Script) so that this value can be stored in the database. How should this be coded.
Code:I am having problems with the following. I am wanting to hide <tr> in my table (employees) and only show employees that are in the selected department (selected via dropdown box).I need to set a javascript array to a php array. I am looping and assigning the array and am wanting to pass a javascript variable as the index in php array. I have marked my problem lines in red. Thanx for any help.
<script type="text/javascript" > function display_elements() { var departments = new Array;
I have a web form with several fields. If I copy & paste from a RTF document into a field, the javascript validation and field length are bypassed and cause the form to fail.
i think this will help people a lot, cuz i couldn't find any simple answer by googling 3 hours...i need a very very simple jquery form field reset.here is the picture what i need:
HTML Code: <script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.4.min.js'></script> <script>
What I need to do, and it shouldn't be that difficult is this:page1.html - there is a yellow button and a red button - if the user clicks on the yellow button I want to set a cookie with the value "yel" then load the next page - if they click the red button set that cookie with the value "red"page2.html - 'onload' i want to read that cookie and load up the main image to match, something like this maybe?...
document.mainimage.src='img/main_' + variable + '.png'so that the path would be for example 'img/main_red.png'Any help please? Preferably javascript only and as simple as possible. If you think this would be easier sending that variable in the URL instead of as a cookie.
I think this is what I am trying to do, I am pretty new to javascript so I'm not sure... but here is my question... I got this function below.
function getProductInfo(id) { var sku = window.document.InvoiceForm.Item0Sku.value; alert(sku); }
when I use the 0 I get the right value back, however whenever I try to pass it the id variable with a value of '0' I can't seem to compose the concatenation correct in order to recieve the correct value.I either recieve errors or the whole window.document.InvoiceForm.Item0Sku.value string back in the alert, what am I doing wrong?
I have two events in a form that I am passing. One is to a javascript function, the other is to the same .asp page only with another action to show different data.
Onchange is calls the function updateclasses, which in turn reloads another drop-down list. It also reloads the .asp page, which refreshes the data. My problem is that it refreshes the second drop-down briefly, until the page reloads, but then resets the form. How do i pass this data to the .asp?
I thought in the .asp, I could just do something simple like the following, but wasn't sure of the correct syntax. is there a better way?
view = request.querystring("view") if view = "" then view = "SciLink" else %> <script language="JavaScript"> updateclasses(form1, 0, Student) </script> <% end if
I have a site that calls the function welcome() and displays a prompt. The same site also has an iframe that calls the next function, add_name(), but when the pages are loaded it says that "answer" is undefined.It says on the page, where the <p id="guest"></p> is, "Welcome undefined". How do I make it so that the value of answer, which is given onLoad of the 1st page with the prompt, is displayed as text in function add_name()?
[CODE] function welcome(){ var x = document.getElementById("body");
Basically, I have a form with some text fields, and I want to put a button next to each text field, so that when a user clicks on the button, it increments the value in the field by 1. I know how to do it if I know the id of the text field, but what if the id of the text field is a variable? How do I do it? Here's my code:
<script language=javascript> function process(v){ document.getElementById('order_item' + v + '_quantity').value++;
This works fine for my first field, but I need to have one for every text field, so how do I pass my counter variable (which determines the id of the appropriate text field) to the process function?
I am having trouble passing the correct id to change the innerHTML. I have a jsp that display people and their address information. There could be several people in the list, so it is in a loop. That part all works good. There is a drop down list with countries in them. Based on the country they select, I want to change some of the text. Here is what I have:
When I hardcoded the id= value, not matter which group I changed the country on, only the first one was changing, so I knew I needed unique ids for each group. There is more to the table, but this is the good part. When the onChange fires now, Nothing at all happens.
