Netscape 7.0x Not Updating Variable Values
Jul 20, 2005I am having a problem with Netscape 7.01 & 7.02 not updating a
variable value in javascript. I have stepped though my code with a
debugger, and the values and code all look correct. This problem is
not happening in Netscape 7.1, but I really need it work at 7.0x
because many users use these browsers, and it would be a annoyance to
force them to update their browsers.
Is there a way in javascript to force the browser to update the
dynamic variables? I'm pretty sure this is a browser bug, but would
like to find a way around it with my own code.
Updating MySQL DB From HTML Table Values?
Jul 13, 2011I'm dynamically outputting the contents of a MySQL table using Python, to a HTML table, which users view (obviously) through a web browser. It looks great, but the problem is that I'd like users to be able to update these values. For example, I have the current value of certain fields in text boxes. I'd like users to be able to change those values, then hit a submit button or similar (ideally on-the-fly) to update the dB. I imagine javascript will need to pass values to a Python script, but I don't know what the best way to go about this is.

Updating Two Iframes After A Form Post?
Sep 23, 2009Given 2 iframes named leftbox and rightbox .he asp file in the "leftbox" lists the "title" field from a SQL table. Each record is listed in an HTML table and each record includes an edit button.When the edit button is clicked, the sql record's text field is opened for editing in an asp file in the "rightbox".When I click "Update" in "rightbox", the updates are posted to the SQL table. I then want both the "leftbox" and "rightbox" to update to reflect the changes.In the asp file that posts the updates, the function

Updating Text Not In A Form Field?
Jan 25, 2011I am very green in Javascript but I am working on it, I was wondering if this is even possible:
I have a bit of information as just text on a page, what I would like to do is to have the text change according to which form button they select. The trick is that the text information is not in a form, its just in a table.
example:
Here would be blah blah blah

once I select that button, the information above it would change to something different.
Updating Form Based On User Input
Jul 23, 2005I have a form with a select field. Depending on what is selected in this field, I want to display or not display another select field. For example first field asks the user if they drive, if the user selects "NO" the form doesn't change. If they select "YES", another field appears with different makes to chose from. If they change back to "NO" the second field dissapears again.

Updating A Form Field Using Popup Window
Mar 18, 2003I am created a site where personal messages will be sent to other members. To do this I want to allow users to either type in the users seperating their name by ; (ie Joe Bloggs; Michael Jackson; Fred Flintstone). or alternativly have a popup box where all the names on the database are displayed in a list with a check box next to the names. I will be using PHP to interact with the database and know about this
My problem is getting details from the popup box and displaying them in the text field on the main browsers form? So if in the popup box the user checked Michael Jackson's name how would I get Michael Jackson to dispaly in the main browers field (input name ="to")?
Does anyone know how to do this?
JQuery :: Updating A Form Based On Checkbox Selection?
Apr 12, 2010I'm working on a search filter trying to get a form to update itself depending on what options have been checked from a selection of checkboxes. i.e. selecting one checkbox can bring up other checkboxes. It's just posting the form to update_filter.php and putting the updated form into searchNavigation div.

This works for the first checkbox that is checked, but after that nothing.
Is it something to do with the fact that the form is not the same form that it was before the checkbox was checked if that makes sense? or shouldn't that make any difference?
AJAX :: Updating FORM Action Based On Input
Aug 2, 2011Let me preface this by saying that I have ZERO experience with Ajax, and have simply copied this code from a blog elsewhere. What is shown below ties to a php file that I developed for a search function on our site. As the user enters their search term(s) in the text input field, the div below is populated with potential results through AJAX. I get all that.
However, I'd like to extend this a bit more. I'd like to enable to user to click the Enter key to follow the URL of the top search result automatically, without having to move their mouse and click on it.
Since I'm using PHP to generate the actual URL, I'm sure I can just send this back as a variable via AJAX, but with my lack of understanding, I thought I'd poke around here for some assistance. Can someone show me how to tweak the code below to accomplish what I'm looking for?

I'm less concerned about getting the Enter key to perform the submit than I am about passing the URL variable back to the form via AJAX. I've seen lots of examples of getting the Enter key to behave this way, I just didn't want to muddy up the original code above.

Mar 27, 2011I am undertaking an assignment where I have to create a webpage that reads values from a database, and generate the appropriate amount of sliders (scroll bars) according to the number of database entires. The webpage functions like this: On index.php load, it reads all the slider values from the database and automatically generates and sets each slider to that value On setting each individual slider to a new value by adjusting the slider, the code automatically updates the slider value in the database via AJAX.
So far I have gotten both functionalities to work successfully. There is just one problem with the 2nd functionality. I can only get one slider value to save to the database at a time. I know how to fix the problem, I just do not know to achieve it. I shall now illustrate via snippets of code:

Keeping Values In A Form...
Feb 5, 2004What I would like to achieve is that when a user goes back to the first page that his/her selection of the cities is still available. All items that have been selected are in the right hand box. This list is again empty when they return to this page via the "history.go(-1)" link.
The page is in dev status and in german, but it is very easy to understand, so it shouldn't be any problem for you guys. The javascript code can be seen in the source code on the first page. The left list is filled with a mySQL statement in the first place.
Of course I can to some PHP workaround by evaluating the submitted variables, but this would be much more work. I want to know if there is an easier approach? Code:

to be more precise; I have a div block - within that div is a header and paragraph. I want to present the user with a form to fill in both fields, then when they hit submit it will refresh the page and build out the div with their submitted content. (obviously what I intend to build is a bit more complex but this is the basis for it)
I want to limit to html, css, and javascript/jquery if possible.
My javascript skills arent mastery so I'll need to see it in action most likely to fully grasp how to.
