I'm trying to set up a new window that contains a button. Then, if the user clicks the button, the window would display new information accordingly. I have written a simple test that won't seem to work:

i've a simple script that basically replaces the textnode attached to the title tag. and i thought since i'm updating the title tag the window title will automatically change. unfortunately it does not :(. what is wrong ?

I'm trying to alter the contents of a drop-down (select) list on the
parent window from a child window in IE 6. After opening the child
window, I set its opener to reference the parent like this:
childwin = window.open(...)
if (childwin == null)
childwin.opener = self;
Then, to update the parent select list from the child window, I do
this:

This looks correct and works up to a point. I can empty the parent
select by setting the its options.length to zero. But, when I try to
add new options, IE gives me a "server threw an exception" message.
Is all this even possible in IE?
I am created a site where personal messages will be sent to other members. To do this I want to allow users to either type in the users seperating their name by ; (ie Joe Bloggs; Michael Jackson; Fred Flintstone). or alternativly have a popup box where all the names on the database are displayed in a list with a check box next to the names. I will be using PHP to interact with the database and know about this
My problem is getting details from the popup box and displaying them in the text field on the main browsers form? So if in the popup box the user checked Michael Jackson's name how would I get Michael Jackson to dispaly in the main browers field (input name ="to")?
Does anyone know how to do this?
After adding some lines of validation from Jorn's validate plugin, the addcar button on IE suddenly won't work, then safari is working, but not displaying updating properly after the animation, it will appear as if broken, but if you scroll up scroll down, then it would update. Chrome and firefox is okay.

I've created a single form with multiple buttons. I am now attempting to have a couple of these buttons open a new window when clicked. The new window opens fine but the original browser window keeps opening to an [object Window] page. I believe this is because it is not reading the "return false" correctly but I am not sure how to fix this.

This works fine on a page by itself, but it opens the "chat.htm" page, as well as one before it that runs the code. It would be much better to just run it from a hyperlink button from the main page and not load the first unnecessary page in the first place.

Is it possible for me to make visible a close button if the active
window is a popup window or a new window (other than the main window)?
What I mean is this:
If the present window is the main window, then the close button should
not be visible on the page. Otherwise, the close button should be made
visible and active (i.e. can be clicked to close the window).
We have a bit of a baffler as to why the Close X is not visible when using the Thickbox module.

Click on the Size Chart link next to the product's options. The popup comes up fine but unless the visitor is psychic they wouldn't know they have to mouseover the top right corner of the popup window to get the X for closing to display. The obvious problem is that the customers panic and close their entire browser after saying a few curse words.
We can't figure out why the X isn't displaying properly (basically not displaying at all).

We have an application where we page 1 has a submit button. As soon as this button is pressed, button would be disabled and new resulting page would be displayed. Now what is observed here is, when the user clicks the back button, page 1 is displayed back, but sometimes the submit button is still disabled.
I was asked to work on fixing this, and I also need to consider several test cases for testing this function. So what I did for this is, on <body> elements onload() event, I called a function which would enable the button, if disabled by anymeans. But on clicking back button, I found that onload() event of <body> element is not called. Why is this happening? Should there be any other event to be considered for handling this.
Another usecase, which I need to consider here is restricting invalid user agents. We have some logic internally to decide if the browser is a valid one or not. For testing this, I created my own user agent using UserAgent switcher plugin and invoked the app and it worked fine.
But, say I start with a valid user agent, click submit (at this point, button is disabled) and I navigate to some other screen and at this point, I change to invalid user agent and click back button, I should still get my submit button enabled back.
I've searched Google etc. for ages! and cannot see resource on how to close the SuperBox model window via a button and/or a link from within the model - for example - within an iframe model.[URL].. I know there is the "link" at the top of the model which will close the model "window", but I would like the choice to close it via a button and/or link within the iframe model...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some code which forces external urls to open in a new window, it works great but an Addthis I have added to the exclusion list still opens in a new window (which is a fallback if there is no .js etc) (as well as the popup appearing).Really not sure what to do about this, any suggestions will be welcome. Maybe change the new window method from simply adding the target="_blank"?
