Triple Drop Down List Not Passing Values Properly?
Aug 11, 2011
I tried implementing a cleaner approach to a web form I had created, but it doesn't seem to be passing the values to the server properly. This form on the left and right work perfectly, but they have two ridiculously long drop down lists, which would be the "ProgramOfInterest" fields [URL] On this form, I tried creating a triple drop down list setup to clean up the older, long lists in this example, but it doesn't pass the values properly. It also seems to not duplicate the new drop down triple drop lists properly as in the original form. You can change the values in the drop downs in the forms to see what I mean. Also just pick Bachelor's > B_Business > Business Administration in the triple drop downs for an example since I don't know how to preselect those values.
There is a drop down list on my Web page with various values to be selected by the user. Once the user has selected a value, he/she clicks on the submit button. When he/she does that I would like 2 things to happen: the selected value of the drop down list is passed to another html page which opens in a new brower window open.
I am presently using a script provided by [url]. This script works great, however I need three sequential drop down menus rather than the two provided in this script. I need Country > Province/State > Cities. Unfortunately I am not a programmer, but generally muddle along to a resolution. In this case I am stumped. Can anyone show me what needs to be added to that existing script to convert it into a three menu script instead of two? I've searched extensively but find nothing about this. I apologize in advance for my lack of scripting knowledge, but much of JavaScript leaves me thoroughly confused. With html I am fine, but at 69 years of age the 'newer' scripts are leaving me behind.
I need another few more sets of the triple drop down menu same as the below script... (Scenario: creating like a online shopping order form, where customers can have multiple orders.)
how to get the values from my drop down list and none of the methods that i have seen actually work with my code.I have read that it is possible only using javascript? but i have also seen people say that it doable with php? i have tried both methods and i still cannot get the values to be entered into my database(All of the other fields enter except the fields that i have to select using a drop down [code]
Problem: I have two dropdown list boxes with same data(all data driven). These are used for two separate entries. For every entry you cannot choose the same value twice. For example, I cannot choose for entry 1 the same value in both selection boxes (gqCategory1Entry1 and gqCategory2Entry1)
This part works.
The second entry is the problem: When I choose a value for Entry Two that is the same as in entry one it thinks that "Dubplicate Divisons have been selected").
I want to use dreamweaver with javascript to do a litter project in which I want to move value "Saleman" from drop-menu 1 and value "Billy" from drop-down 2 to a list box. The result should be as follows:
dropdown 1 Manager Salesman (to be selected) Cleaner
I am trying to create a drop down list which depend to the value selected from the previous drop down list. I can add it without problem, but If I change again the value of the first drop down list I would like to remove the previous drop down list generated from the first value. If I try to remove it when I create the element, it even does not create the element, the remove element function seems to work because when you click on the remove link it works.
Here's something that I tested without the PHP and it worked ok. Now that I've introduced the PHP to the document it doesn't work. The PHP variable is not passing to Javascript properly. By use of some cleverly placed alert boxes, I figured out that the only thing that is getting passed forward is something called : "object HTML ImageElement"
Specifically, I assign the element ID the unique ID number of the record in the SQL database. The problem isn't with the ID numbers themselves: They are alphanumeric and unique.I think it boils down to one of two lines of code. Either this isn't working (about line 12)
function expander(RecordID){
or perhaps it is when I am calling the function (about line 66):
The PHP works (I can get the images to appear, so the connection to SQL and such isn't a problem). I am sure most of the JavaScript is good, too, as I said I had it all working prior to dropping in the PHP.Since I am not going from JavaScript to PHP I don't think I need AJAX. I just need the PHP to pass to JavaScript.

I have a triple drop down menu and when I select an option for first drop down, based on that I get the values populated in the second drop down but these values in the second drop down do not clear even though I change the change the option of my first drop down. I am facing this problem with Chrome. In Firefox it works fine.Could some one tell me how to clear the previous selection contents. I have pasted my code in the pastebin[URL]...
i am trying to create a very simple drop menu using jquery, bt when i am attaching the event to li's which have further ul inside it, it showing very strange behavior in firefox and in IE, it not showing propely the sub menu, zindex problem.
I have a table that has parts with multiple characteristics. Part Number, Height, Width, Capacity, Price, Etc. I would like to have a drop downs for all of these values, when a user selects one of these values it will filter the results into a list. Ex. user selects a part that has a Height of 6 and width of 10 it will only list those parts. As I said earlier, I have a script that will give me all the parts, however I am not able to make the onchange list parts with multiple values.
I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.
I am implementing auto re-order drop down values in asp.net. My requirement is something: I have five drop down and each has populated using 1 to 5 values. when I changevalue from dropdown, other drop down values(numberordering)should change automatically.
I'm getting some XML back from an ajax call ... it's working as expected.My problem/question is that I don't know how to traverse the XML properly using Jquery.This is what I'm getting back:
My code currently uses $(this).find("photos").each(function() to get each of the photos, and that works fine.However, the list of photos can be quite large, and I really don't need them all -I'd like to just "grab" the one or two photos I know I need based on the id and size attributes. Is this possible without going thru the entire list?
I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County).I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database.This piece of code is working well . . . .
<?php
$link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database');[code]......
I've been working with a little script from URL... but it doesn't seem to loop through the entire list.It works properly if I leave an empty list item in the UL - but that is not ideal.If i leave the count at 0, it leaves the final list item blank.
Each instance of what I need edited also has an id on the page for referenceSo things like <p id='titleonebox' class='editable'>Title that can be edited</p> If I'm updating the DB I have it all figured out because I'm updating X where X is X.However on the index page itself I have 'headers' that I want editable for each div(The divs are populated via the DB and they edit fine)I've tried using save.php from jquery's jEditable documentation but it won't save the value when I refresh the page.
I am able to display the validation error messages at top of with wrapper: "li" like the following screen: But when I enter a valid email into E-mail field, the list item bullet not display (hide) properly in the error container, please see the screen below: Is this a bug or did I missed some settings in my source code? Attached here is the sample code that demo the problem (after extract the compress file, please open sample-code/demo/demo.html). Attachments sample-code.tar.gz Size : 32.36 KB Download : 345
I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:
