I have a few banners and forms that I wish to open in a new tab not the same window or a new window. I have tried the deprecated
target="_blank"
But even that opens a new window.
I have done some research on google and came up with CSS code:
form[target] {
target-name: new;
target-new: tab;
}
a[target] {
target-name: new;
target-new: tab;
}
This however does not work and opens in the same window. When using the CSS I remove the inline target.
Code: window.location but have it open in new browser window (like with target="_blank", not window.open)

<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
#jsalarmclock{
font-family: Tahoma;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 12px;

i want to submit form data from the popup window, close the popup, and load in the main window. problem is, it always opens a new 'tab'. i'm using google chrome, i didn't think to try this in
in the <head> of the 'main' window:
<script language='javascript' type='text/javascript'>
window.name='main';
</script>
[Code]....
Code:
<a href="#" onclick="window.location='http://YourSite.com'">click here</a>
I want to make it so that it opens a new normal browser window just like target=_blank does.
I have a domain name registration field that links to a reseller storefront and then searches for that domain name. I would like the storefront to open in a new window, instead of the parent window. I have tried to insert the target="blank tag but can not seem to get it to work. Is there another way to make that window open? You can see the page and field here: [URL] The field is on the left side, just below the center of the page.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using the following javascript on the target page to open it as top location from within an iframe, which is working ok.
<script type="text/javascript">
if(self!=top) {
top.location.href=location.href
}
</script>
However my problem occurs when the user uses the browsers back arrow to return to the previous page, the script executes again returning them once more to the page they have come from. Is anyone aware of a work around to this problem as it would seem there isn't one? perhaps even a better solution for opening the target page from the iframe as top location. This is really causing confusion for users, and I really need to get the issue fixed.
i have a little problem with the target attribute ine the form below...
Code:
<form id="formReport" action="<?php echo $reportlink;?>" method="post" target="_blank">
<input type="hidden" name="reportProject" value="1">
<input type="hidden" name="idProjectRevision" value="<?php echo $idProjetRevision; ?>">
<input type="hidden" name="generateButton" value="<?php echo $bouton_generate_report; ?>" >
</form>
this form is submitted using the following .js code in order to generate a pdf Code: document.getElementById("formReport").submit(); the problem is that i get a popup (blocked by firfox by the way) instead of a new window or a tab, how do i solve this?
I found an article [URL] that allows a user to search Google directions from a web page. It works very well, however is it possible to have the resulting page open in a popup window?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI dont know a lot about Javascript or AJAX. But, what I am wanting to do is to have two forms and what ever is entered in either will open a new window with that info.
[URL]
In form one I want what is entered to be placed where the 77777 is in the URL in a new window.
In form two I want what is entered to replace IRN=77777 with Username=88888 and where the 88888 is will be what is entered in the field.
Here is what I have currently on my page:
Code:
<table border="0">

<tr>
<td>Search IRN:<br /><input name="" style="width: 200px;" type="text"></td>

I am trying to create a form which when the submit button is selected will open a new window with 1 of 4 URLs based on the the combination of data in 2 select boxes.
For example:
if select box 1 = a and select box 2 = a then open new window with URL 1
if select box 1 = a and select box 2 = b then open new window with URL 2
if select box 1 = b and select box 2 = a then open new window with URL 3
if select box 1 = b and select box 2 = b then open new window with URL 4
I have a php page which uses the following javascript code to open another page (The users profile page) and alos carry over the userID (dUid)
var userProfileUrl = chatProfileUrl+dUid.replace(/_/gi,"");
document.getElementById('userdetails').innerHTML += "<span class='userinfo' onClick="window.open('"+userProfileUrl+"','"+dUid+"')"><img id='profile' style='cursor:pointer;vertical-align:middle;padding-top:4px;' src=images/zoom.png> View Profile</span></br>";
I wanted to add to the menu another image link so I copied the same coding, but I do not know where to place the URL target that I want opened. I know I want the userID (dUid) also to follow this link as well. If I want the coding below to act in the same manner as the coding above, but instead open a page called /gift.php, where do I set the Url?
document.getElementById('userdetails').innerHTML += "<span class='userinfo' onClick="window.open('"+userProfileUrl+"','"+dUid+"')"><img id='profile' style='cursor:pointer;vertical-align:middle;padding-top:4px;' src=images/gift.png> Send Gift</span></br>";
I want to open a new browser-window with javascript and fill some
input-fields in this window with predefined values. So the User does
not have to edit the input-fields manually but only has to submit the
form.
....
var childWindow = window.open("http://anyForm.html");
childWindow.document.getElementsByName('anyinputfi eld')[0].value='hello'
....
Unfortunately this does not work... Mozilla throws an error:
"Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to get property
Window.PropertyIterator"
Is there any workaround?
Is it possible to remote modify an already open window form from a
local HTML file? Example (simplified):
1. I have a local HTML file, where I have some kind of link. When this
link is pressed, then I need to add a "searchstring" into...
2. the second already opened window form (e.g. Google)
I need to do this to avoid any copy / pasting of these values.
All I have read about is that this is possible if I use Parent/Child
windows, but I would like to know if this is possible to do between two
independant pages?
I have this piece of code which is opening link in new window:
How to change this code so link would open in the same window?
Probably I should change this part: javascript:void window.open
I found this forum while running out of ideas and being extremely desperate to fixing a probably small javascript error in a script. the script is supposed to open a small form window that allows the user to input an email address and update it to proceed. the form item is initially unchecked, but as the user clicks it and enter his email address, it updates the value of the email address and the box becomes "checkable". the problem is that with both IE and firefox, the box doesn't close again, doesn't get checkable and basically doesn't work. in the firefox debugging console, I found the following error:

The part responsible in the javascript for this section is:

And the html code that is supposed to pop up the box is:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HTML and I am opening another link in a separate window using window.open() . The child window is something like 'http://yahoo.com' which is out side html. I need to refresh the parent window when the child window is closed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a pop up window is for the user to submit some information.
That window is refreched a few times with the user inputs (its a form
submit in itself... couple of times). I would like that window to close
after the user submits a rating and refreshed the original page that
opened the window.
I cant use opener.document.refresh because afterall the page isnt
considered the opener after the user posts the information on the pop
up window.
what I'd like to do is be able to click on a link in the popup window, and have the popup window close while reloading the parent window to the selected url.

can that be somehow tweaked to show hide layers in another window, to be specific parent window of the one triggering the show/hide?
Here is the issue I am having: In my project, I have a index.php page with a sidebar menu and a div id called œcontent.The user can select different menu items and perform searches from the database and make updates to their account. Im using ajax to load all of the menu items and all of the forms into the div id "content" on the index page. The Forms all load into the target div as they are suppose to with ajax.
However, on the mysettings page I have two forms and two different buttons, one called save and the other called update. When a user wants to edit their account information and makes changes to their account they clicks on either button and the form processes the information and updates or inserts data into the database correctly but the problem is that after that the form or page does not display the form back in the div id "content" like how it was loaded originally in the index.php page. The problem is that it reloads or refreshes the form page without the index.php page being involved. That is does not get reloaded or updated inside the index.php page content div again.
What I would like do is have all of my forms process whatever is submitted on the page and display the results back inside the same content div on the index.php page again. I know I am missing something because all of my forms are doing the same thing. I am hoping someone can help me out. I would be very grateful for example code that I can learn from since I am still relatively new to web development. I am posting some sample code below.
[Code]...
Through window.open or window.showmodaldialog, I want to open a word
or excel document in Print Preview mode. Bcos I don't want the user to
make any changes or save it but the user can ONLY VIEW OR take a print
out.
I'm using an <A> tag with an onclick event to open a window with JS (window.open)... In FIREFOX, if I click very quickly, multiple windows open. Not a problem in IE.
