Stretching DIV Height :: Any Code To Make Menu Bar Stretch Vertically?

I have a DIV menu bar that I want to stretch 100% in height. It worked perfectly fine until I added the XHTML doctype. So I tried absolute positioning which worked but then my other divs started overlapping them.So I want to know if there is any javascript code to make my menu bar stretch vertically. The name of the div I want to stretch is the class "sidemenu".

I'm using the following piece of code to create a link that, when clicked, uses jquery animation to slowly display a paragraph of text. The trouble is that the animation goes both vertically and horizontally, making it look a little too busy/cluttery. How can I tweak my code to make it only animate vertically?

you will notice that the menu opens above the click, and the top part is cut off. I would prefer the menu opens below the click, and someone can scroll to see all options.

The problem is that the height of the second level menu results in their being gaps in between each menu item so that as you move your mouse down the second menu items it quickly closes again. scripting novice fix this by telling me which variable I need to change either in the Java script or the CSS files.

Do you know how gmail's textarea stretches to accomodate text?
I want my inputs to behave like that.
I tried using css:

But that didn't work. Not even in Mozilla.
How do I do this?

I have an image stretched to fit as the page background in a DIV and the page content inside a seperate DIV. When you mouseover the links, the background changes to represent each link (as does the color of the link... but that is working fine). Trouble is, the images that are being pulled aren't fullsized as the main background is... it is being cut off by some code I can't figure out and isn't resizing.Here is the code...

I need to stretch my banner Image at the top of the page to the whole of the page. The development computer on which I was working for this site displayed it correctly. Today when I opened the code in another compter the top banner image didn't display itself for the whole of the page. It just contracted to the left side. I am wondering how do do it. Well I used background-image:100% but that didn't work(CSS3 compatibility issues). Any tips to stretch this top banner to the whole of the page in every computer.

have created ecommerce site in zen 1.3.9h using a template by bling themes called "digital shop". sadly we cannot get any support. I actually want to make a horizontal drop down menu with a sub menu.As far as I have researched, I think that it can be done by JavaScript. I have searched for some java scripts but they are very long and complex.
That made me wonder that for a funcitonality like a Drop down is so complex?
So here is my question : Is there any JavaScript that can be applied for drop down menu exclusively? Which just presents logic of drop down solely?

provide me with code to make a collapsible menu? What I'm looking for is a vertical menu, that will open up the sub-categories upon a mouseover. Clicking on the menu item will bring them to the specific page. Oh, and this might not matter, but I'd prefer if I was able to style the menu to fit with my site theme.

how to make my left hand column DIV (my site nav) match the same height of the main content DIV.
Im pretty clueless at JS but guess this is way to do it:
* Capture the height attribute of the main DIV from the DOM into a variable
* Copy this value into the height attribute of the left hand DIV and hey presto they match?

I'm doing some work on a theme and I'm using horizontal accordion scrollers.
You can see on my practice page that the three main sections (on the right) are all different sizes. The rightmost section has a big block of text but it is all cut off after 600px (which is what I have it set as).
Since this will be for a blog there will be different sized pages with every click but I can't seem to find a way to have the elements default the height based on the amount of content.
The accordion script uses MooTools and you can see everything I've done on my development page.

I'm trying to make this menu go up and down when the arrows are clicked. Right now, it shows all of them and I can't figure out how to make it so that it only shows the first 9 and will show the rest in the menu when it's clicked. I really don't know where to start. I found some scripts but they turned out really funky. Even if it's something super simple is cool, just where to begin??

I am working on outlet pages of an online store.There are 4 products displayed on each row.On that store, products are displayed with images,product name, model no., price and buttons.For some products, the name is longer, for some price is longer.I am using <td> for displaying each information.The problem is - the height of the name's <td> and price's <td> are different for different products.I want a JS code which can detect the biggest height (for each row separately) from both the above td's separately and assign the maximum height to the corresponding 3 td's of that row.This should be done for each row separately.note : I an right now using this code - But it takes the height of both td's for 1st product only and assign it to all the products.

I have a iframe element which currently has a small amount of javascript that handles the scrolltop and I am trying to add a variable to that which controls the height of the iframe based on the source height. I do not want to set the height of the iframe in CSS because if I use this same method for other iframes and the source height is not the same it will not work.The page with the iframe is here (click on the link on the top of the page to load the iframe):

Again, what I need is for the iframe to get the document height from the page that will load into the iframe and then have the iframe height be that exact size. As you can see once you click on the link it is much shorter than the page I am using to load into the iframe.I do not know javascript enough to figure it out and have spent a couple days looking all over the internet and have yet to find something I can incorporate into the javascript I already have.

I have an image that I set to have a width of 100%. I want its height to be no greater than the visible height of the browser web-page area. This could distort the image, but thats OK. To makes things difficult, the image is in a div, and I want the div to be higher than the visible area. So I can't just set the div to height of 100%, and then within that set the image to a height of 100%. I know there is a javascript way of getting the height of the entire screen (screen.height) but that includes the extra areas of the browser such as toolbars etc. I know there is a 'offsetHeight' attribute, but I think I would have to use that on the BODY tag, and the BODY of the page could be several screens in height. So is there a solution to this? If there isn't then can I detect the aspect ratio of the screen?

Is there Java Script to show only the Comment and Markup tool bar in a pdf document? I have the toolbars hidden on initial view, but I need to be able to make it so that one toolbar appears. I have figured out how to make all toolbars re-appear, but I don't want users to be able to do that (at least not easily).
