Adding Listbox Options To Multiple Textboxes?

May 6, 2011

I am resorting to you for help with a html form that uses javascript to validate data. the form is an invoice for a trip order where the user can select a trip location out of a listbox, a number of people traveling, and where they wish to stay(ex. hotel, tent, etc.) after the user selects one for each category and hits the "add to invoice" button, the fields in the invoice should get filled with the corresponding information. Now my question is how can I write code that will insert information in the next row down after the previous row has been filled? basically what logic and programming structure do I need in my function that will know when the first row in the invoice is filled. I'm struggling at the part where when the "add to invoice" button is clicked. some data is added to the invoice, and if the user wants to book another trip, the second trip should be appended in the second row of the invoice. what is happening in mine is that whenever I book another trip, the first one gets overwritten when in fact it should be left intact and the data should get appended in the next row down.

Check Textboxes With No Value And Listbox

Mar 24, 2011

I am trying to check some textboxes if they have no value, and a listbox. However, with my current code, it seems like the OR code is not working like it should be.
<script type="text/javascript">
function checkEmpty() {
if (document.editForm.varenummer.value!="" || document.editForm.serienummer.value!="") {
if (document.all("reakke").options[document.all("reakke").selectedIndex].value == "2") {
alert();
} else {
document.editForm.submit();
}} else {
alert("Indtast venligst alle informationer");
}}
</script>
As seen above, if Varenummer or Serienummer is not equals nothing, then check the listbox, but if they are nothing then do the else statement. However as I tested, the else statement only triggers if both Varenummer and Serienummer is nothing.

JQuery :: Showing Input Focus On Textboxes?

Jun 2, 2010

I have just started using jQuery and getting familiar with the syntax. I have a simple function I want to run that will add a "focus" class when a textbox receives focus, and remove it when it loses it. I have the following code:

$(document).ready(function () {
$("input[type='text'], input[type='password']").focus(function () {
$(this).addClass("inputFocus");
alert('Handler called');

[Code].....

The code appears to run normally, but I don't see any alerts pop up when I give focus to a textbox or leave it. I have examined what jQuery is doing, and it selects the dozen or so textboxes on my page correctly and iterates through them, but afterward I don't see any "onfocus" or "onblur" events as being attached in the IE Dev Tools.

These textboxes are all hidden on the page to start with, but are accessible through the DOM.

Using Split / Join And Loop To Capitalize User Input

Oct 22, 2011

I need to capitalize user input from a text field by passing the data to an array and using the split() method, then then join() method and of course toUpperCase. I need to accomplish this with a loop. I only have a crappy ebook and haven't ever been in a java classroom.

Here's what I have which is not at all sufficient. I learn best from examples, so here I am...
<HTML><HEAD>
</HEAD><BODY>
<FORM ACTION="#" NAME=strn>
Enter lower case text
<INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME="txt1" SIZE=20>
/

The following lines of code are just my attempts at guessing javascript logic/syntax
function arrays(){
for (var i=0; i<secondarray.length; ++i)}
firstarray=getElementByName.txt1
var secondarray =firstarray.split(separator[" ", 40]).toUpperCase();
/var secondarray.join([""])
<BR><BR>
<INPUT TYPE=BUTTON VALUE="Convert to Upper Case"
onclick="document.strn.txt2.value = document.strn.txt1.value.toUpperCase()"
<BR><BR>
<input type = "text" NAME=txt2 size=20/>
</FORM></BODY></HTML>
I know this much .array = string.split(separator[, limit]);.

Dynamically Adding Text From Textboxes To A Single Textbox?

Aug 25, 2011

I need to create address fields as follows:

Address Line Fields: text should be input into these fields manually Primary Address field: text should be dynamically populated into this field based on the text manually input from the Address Line fields.

The below are the manual input fields:

Address Line 1: Text1
Address Line 2: Text2
Address Line 3: Text3
Address Line 4: Text4
Address Line 5: Text5
Address Line 6: Text6
City: Text7
State/County/Region: Text8
Zip Code/Post Code: Text9

The below is the Primary Address field which should look like this when the text has been input into the manual fields:

Primary Address: Text1, Text2, Text3, Text4, Text5, Text6, Text7, Text8, Text9

In other words, as I type the text in the Address Line fields, the text is added to the Primary Address field or textbox separated by commas automatically/dynamically.

Is this at all possible with javascript and is there some code that can do it?

Read Text File - Parse - Split - Put In Array

Oct 22, 2009

I am very new to javascript and programming and I need a little direction. I have working a javascript that reads the value of radio buttons and writes them to a text file. My code is at [URL]. The text file has the following format:

Name|Email|Location|Comment|5|5|5|3|2|1|4|5|3|2|0
Name2|Email2|Location2|Comment2|1|3|0|3|2|0|2|5|1|2|3

What I need to do is have javascript read the text file (c: estfile.txt) and put each section of information (name, comments, numbers, etc.) into an array. Then, add the number from each columns up. For example, the first number from Name and the first number from Name1 is 5 +1 = 6. This sum is then added to another array that can be printed on the screen. I know this is a lot of information.
